To be fair, Itachi is a giant straw man for Konoha. He really isn't that bad ass. He was significantly cooler when he was just another crazy.

I'm pretty sure I already saw this mentioned but one of the biggest cliches that tick me off are when Naruto uses the Kage Bunshin technique as some kind of hax to skip ahead years in his training and the idea of it is totally novel to every single one of the experienced shinobi who see him do it.

Next up would have to be Sakura losing her shit and attacking Naruto when he doesn't bring Sasuke back.

Naruto making a new friend when hes a kid who immediately takes him out shopping and buys him the most fucking ridiculous outfits you can imagine because an orange jumpsuit is awful but a red and purple coat with nine tails hanging off of it is completely inconspicuous.

Naruto fixing Gaara as a kid and causing Temari's panties to spontaneously evaporate.

Thats all I can think of that hasn't already been mentioned.

 

Yes, but it's not unreasonable to assume he's substantially more powerful than Kakashi. They were supposed to be equal before Kabuto merged with whatever was left of Orochimaru. It's fair to assume he's likely about twice again as strong as Kakashi is, which would put him near, if not on, the top 10 list.

Even without that, he's still a substantial force. He hasn't demonstrated any real ability or skill beyond the Edo Tensei, but even if that was all he could do, he would be quite a pain in the ass. He can sustain dozens of simultaneous Edo Tensei, which gives him basically immortal soldiers enslaved to his will. Some of which are some of the most powerful individuals to have ever lived. As demonstrated by the last few chapters, he can be a significant force without ever personally approaching the battlefield.

 

Kabuto is crazy and that all... He implies he want to continue work of Orochimaru and be like him (immortal with Sasuke sharingan).
Agayek if you think that Kabuto (before fusing with Orochimaru) was as strong as Kakashi you are more crazy then even Kabuto. Kakashi is legendary ninja with experience. Kabuto was just boy with some medic skills and good for laboratory, he was just barging. Orochimaru would not keep close to him somebody so strong. Even looking for databook stats:
Kabuto 30 -> Kakashi 33 -> Orochimaru 35 -> Itachi 35.5. And in these every points matter - Irachi being only 0,5 point and 2,5 points stronger then Orochimaru and Kakashi own them both like they were nothing.

Of course present Kabuto is much stronger, but old one was never on real Kakashi level.

PS. Discussing if Itachi should or should not be in top10 is irrelevant, that list is fake, made up by some newb.

We have no idea what Orchimaru's parts are doing to him, Hinata stated that the limbs he implanted were slowly taking over his body. We don't know if he gained Orchimaru's memories or techniques or w/e but we can assume since according to the databook he is in the top 10

 

Besides which, one of the major themes of the story has been that each successive generation is more powerful than the last.

Also, Minato wtfpwned Madara into the dust. Repeatedly. No way would I ever consider Madara more powerful than him. If I had to make a top ten it would be:

Rikudo Sennin
Minato
Naruto (toss up between him and Minato who gets second, but I went with this because Minato was a genius as well as powerful)
Pein
Jiraiya (he would have beat Pein, had he known about his real body)
Madara
Sandaime
Itachi
Sasuke
Kabuto

 

However he has gained the rinnegan so Madara has become at least somewhat more powerful

The databook stats aren't intended as a power ranking.

The stats show strengths/weaknessess and character growth.

If you add up the stat totals and treat them as DBZ style powerlevels, you get this kind of thing.


Chouji = 13.5
Kiba & Naruto = 14.5
Ino = 15
Sakura = 15.5

First databook remember, covers up to the Sound/Sand invasion.

 

In that case bump him up to between Naruto and Pein. Rin'negan does not an omnipotent ninja make, as Pein found out to his detriment.

 

Actually it did if you look at it. I doubt anyone else could revive thousands of people, after killing them in a massive attack and making a small but still very large moon. You needto remember that he was fighting to capture not to kill, and after Deva got his power back he was fought singlehandedly with it. With all Six Paths he should have nbeaten Naruto soundly.

Yes. His goal from the start was world peace in his own way and he was willing to do anything for it. That plan includes catching the jinchuriki. Naruto isn't the only one in the manga who is willing to die for his beliefs you realise and Nagato strikes me as another.

 

So he dies and leaves the Kyuubi to Madara. Yes thats so likely

I honestly can't think of much atm so how about Sai moving into team 7 whenever Naruto is (for whatever reason) no longer part of that team/village causing uneven teams in the whole rookie 9 lineup.

 

I don't have a problem with that. It's still much better than having an OC replace Naruto.
