    - Inserting random Japanese into an English fic. This has been a sore point with people all over the anime fandom, but it irks me to see "baka fox!" or honorifics in a fanfiction. What's the point, you know? You don't speak Japanese, the characters you're writing don't speak Japanese... it just doesn't make any sense. It's not a big deal and not really a cliche, really, but I wanted to do a little mini-rant here anyway.

I dont mind the honor sufixes but I never really cared to read Baka or Hai.

I also Like any jutsus the authors invent in Japanese, since they sound stupid in English. Even if the Japanese is wrong :p

Not really a Cliche`, but yeah..

I hate it when people stick so close to the story line you basically get the same images as if you were reading manga. I admit I've had to use key point's to keep my story going along a desired root, Disgustingly so with the Piece before the Chuunin exam infact. :(

Ah, yes, Following the exact same scenes is bad. One way i have seen and liked was to flesh out the part we didn't see in the manga, and pass the part we actualy see in the manga in flash-like sentences.

To avoid that I just changed the setting. Change the setting, you change the annoying "follow the manga too damn closely"

But what if you do speak Japanese? Besides, the fanfic is based off of a Japanese series, so technically the characters would speak Japanese if the author so chooses. The only thing that irks me about the usage of Japanese is when it is used incorrectly. I usually have to point that out in a review to get it off of my mind...

Using a Jutsu for everything (I've seen a story with Jump no Jutsu).
Naru/Hina starting off as Hina being abused.

    Ah yes... the infamous Naru/Hina...

First off for me? The obviously dictionary.commed japanese used in 'original' jutsus (when they are). And the fucked up names. They think of names like 'sly' or 'brave' and they come up with adjectives for names. And they're not even right. 'sly' comes across as sneaky, which turns into cheat in the dictionary... so an OC would be named zurui.

Imagine being named 'Smart', or 'Bubbly', or 'Firey', or... you get the picture.

Me being japanese, and living in Tokyo at the moment, this really gets me going... on my quest to aid North Korea in it's nuclear developement so I can nuke an anime-otaku's convention somewhere in Colorado. Or Wyoming. I don't care. It seriously fucking irritates me...

Actually there's probably a lot more power in our favorite little ball of sunshine. It's just that emotionally damaged goods don't tend to be very suited for key military roles. Most likely she's just a bit more powerful than we've seen so far, but'll never reach any kind of true potential until....well...period.

On a sidenote, mixing up languages doesn't seem to be all that big of a deal to me.
    *shrugs*
It worked in Firefly (somewhat), and coming from a country where speaking 3 or more languages is the norm, mixing it up is sort of a given.

    Biggest cliche ever:

    Kyuubi teaching Naruto.
Can be coupled with the whole Kyuubi is a good guy cliches.
Kyuubi hates humans. End! There is no way he is going to help some slimy little worm just because he likes him! And please do me a favour and don't start with the Kyuubi gone crazy because of some random jutsu. He is a fucking demon there is no way in hell that he could be tricked by genjutsu!

If you do speak Japanese, then write a Japanese fanfiction. I don't like reading "Bakatare!" or "Haaaaaaaaai Kakashi-sensei! ^______^" in my fanfiction because it conjures unpleasant images of greasy, anime-obsessed nerds who go around spouting Japanese words because they were miraculously able to summon the mental capacity to match a word the character said with the subtitle in the anime they downloaded from the internet, inbetween their jerkoff sessions to tentacle rape demon futanari guro lolicon hentai.

The only time I would probably find it acceptable is if the author afforded some kind of explanation for a character sometimes slipping into Japanese. Like a character coming from an isolated village in the Fire Country that spoke a different language, or something. Slips back into Japanese could be used for better characterization.

And jutsu/character names in dictionary-dot-commed Japanese don't bother me - I don't speak Japanese. Engrish in anime openings don't bother me either (I WANT TO DIVE LOSTU MIND), but my eyebrow starts twitching a little when characters "from america" start speaking in terrible English (Beck). The typical-mtv-black-dude stereotype in anime is a little irksome, too... and I'm not even black, but anyway, my point is that I can kind of see where you're coming from, other-dude-from-Japan.

Well, hai isn't that hard, considering that it is used a lot and sometimes by itself. It doesn't really bother me because I know some Japanese because I am currently learning it, but the only time that it gets on my nerves is when it is used incorrectly. Also, even if they don't use Japanese, then the author STILL needs to obey the rule of Family name first, given name second. Its Uzumaki Naruto, not Naruto Uzumaki.

    Friendly kyuubi.

Itachi taking Naruto after the massacre.

Naruto with uber eye ability, ether as a bloodline or gift from kyuubi.

    Four man team.

Same team members, even though Naruto is no longer dead last.

Naruto being all kickass, knows what it means to be a shinobi and has killed before but for some reason when Haku's mask breaks he stops. What the fuck!?

I'm supposed to beleive that Naruto is not going to kill Haku for 'killing' Sasuke just because they had a 10 minute conversation about what makes him strong?

Also when Naruto gets that mad when Sasuke 'dies' when the author doesn't include a part where Sasuke sacrifces himself for Naruto.

Lets get this straight. Naruto hates this guy but he gets all worked up when he's killed, also take in the fact that they're both shinobi and are trained to deal with shit like this happening out on the field. I could understand it in the manga when he throws himself in the way of the attack as Naruto didn't have a very good childhood and having somone care enough to do something like that would probably get to him but still.

Well, judging by the canon reactions of the ninjas with the demon brothers, they aren't trained to deal with teammates dying and shit.

Yeah, it seems to me that there wasn't very much emotional training at all. Take the part where Haku was trying to get Naruto to kill him, for example.

If that had that emotional training at all you'd have Ino and Sakura screwed over, maybe Hinata as well 'cause of her quiet obsession over Naruto.

    Personally my most hated cliche's would be;

Sakura/Naruto before or after Sasuke defection, I simply hate Sakura... Ugly pink hair...

Hinata/Naruto where its practically a relationship where Naruto does all the talking and Hinata sits there saying 'Hai'.

Those are probably the only cliche's I have problems with, I'm still pissed over watching the anime of Naruto vs Sasuke. I mean for fuck's sake he blows a hole through a water tank with the Rasengan and then only scratches Sasuke's forehead protector... Gah!

Sasuke is not a messed up little prick.

Sakura is not obsessed with above mentioned prick.

Orochimaru actually gives a damn about his stupid minions.

The Uber-God character that trains Naruto for an unknown amount of time and turns the little idiot into an uber-ninja.

Nary/Hina, Naru/Saku, Naruto/Sasu-gay (yaoi in general, but especially that one...)

If you ever say that again about your GOdlike story, I will hurt you and lock you in a room with a computer with only Microsoft Office Word as installed. Heh, really, your fic's one of my favorites. Don't mind the slow updates but keep at it.
