Actually, Kakashi didn't take out anything. He's been pretty much getting slapped around throughout the battle. Chouji and his old man got the drop on Shuradou and managed to take him out. Three of Pain's six bodies were enough to send Sennin Jiraiya into full retreat mode until he pulled out that frog song genjutsu, and he still lost the battle. All six of them combined is enough to pretty much handle any single ninja in the Narutoverse without much difficulty.

Regardless, I've been all about making Akatsuki as strong as they're supposed to be. You won't be seeing a member get taken out by a douchebag like Shikamaru.

Asura Pain only got clobbered by Chouza because Kakashi's lightning clone stunned him temporarily. Kakashi hasn't even touched Pain otherwise and will be sent back to hospital after this fight as usual. Oh well, that's my interpretation anyway. I wonder if I'll be eating my words next chapter <_<

Thought this was pretty good for what's been written so far. Needs more than four chapters to tell for certain though. I'll be keeping my eye on it anyway.

 

I actually read something pretty interesting a few days back that this comment reminded me of. Jump Comics doesn't tend to publish manga unless the heroes are, and continue to be, "Jump-like." (Though I'm pretty sure this referred to Shonen Jump specifically and not the entire run of comics)

How they were explaining it was that the main character(s) have to be your weak>to>superpowerful type to keep the readers interested. Joe Everyman isn't entertaining enough, and the cunning bastard sends the wrong message to their target audience.

This is different than American or UK (I believe) ((Western? Maybe)) culture, where we like our Badass Normals and Brain over Brawn types. So a lot of the stuff they go crazy for over in Japan tends to wear a little thin for us after a while.

EDIT: Of course, this wasn't exactly an in-depth study, it was more of a quick overview. I'm sure there's more to it, but that's the general idea.

 

Seeing as Bakuman is in jump for some strange reason, I'm going to have to guess that it is an accurate description of what the job entails.

Disregarding all the other bullshit, I have a big problem with fanfiction characters falling in love at thirteen and fourteen and fifteen. Most particularly Naruto fanfiction, because history shows that young soldiers enjoy pussy. Lots of pussy. History also shows that twelve girls/women will not all settle with the same guy. Escpecially liberated ninja women who can kick ass.

 

... That has to be one of the most retarded things I have heard. I can't stand the Tru lurve at twelve bullshit either. But to make them go around and have more sex than frat guys and my second ex, Well that's just stupid and sounds like the plot to a stupid smut fic. If you haven't noticed Naruto ninja aren't exactly ninja. They have no concept pf stealth, Hell look at Kakashi's Assassination jutsu, It is so fucking loud people could hear it long before they see it.

Naruto ninja where never meant to be 'Actual' ninja. My money is that Kishimoto thought up some super powers and needed a way to give them to Sasuke, I mean the Naruto world. So he set it in a alternate dimension and called them ninja, it most likely would have been better to call them Samurai what with all the 'Codes' just about every ninja has.


If you want to read about 'True' Ninja go read Basalisk. Naruto just isn't a true ninja story.
