The only aspect of Nagato's character that I'm disappointed with is the fact that Kishimoto decided to gimp him simply to allow for an Uchiha poser to play the role of final villain.

Nagato is the best villain that this manga will ever see, bar none.

As great as this Naruto chapter might turn out to be, the following must be said:

NEW BERSERK, NEW BERSERK, NEW BERSERK.

    Right back to Naruto.

Well tis flashback time, so I wasn't expecting much more than a bit of whining, and that is essentially all the chapter is. When Kishi gave us a brief glimpse of the three sanin fighting Hanzo, I got really excited for about two boxes and then it went back to a pity party again. The "that was when his dream became my dream" made me die a little on the inside.

Did you just imply that Naruto somehow received Nagato's memories when he stabbed himself? Because I'm pretty sure that's not how it worked.

I'm saying the scene you mentioned would have been a decent place for a flashback into Nagato's past. I'm not sure on the mechanics of the chakra transmissions, but Nagato's traumatic experiences as a child are probably on his thoughts constantly, hence his weapon named 'Pain'. It wouldn't of been hard to work it that way instead of the way it is now.

I can't say that the flashback annoyed me that much. I've said this before, but the majority of Naruto characters that are worth a damn have a bucketload of angst to go with it. Despite his downfalls, Nagato's the best villain by default because he has actually succeeded in something, and doesn't completely fail in everything like Madara or Oro. Caesar from Asterix is more intimidating than them.

I came. Holy shit, Griffith actually did something this chapter instead of posing. Art was completely amazing, and I just loved the dialogue in this chapter. :)

    That episode was depressing.

    Meh...

Like last week, hardly surprising. War, death, lost parents, puppy etc etc.
I suppose you have to expect these things with shonen manga but it really does get on my nerves sometimes.
I think he could have added a bit more to Pein's life. When you watched Naruto back in the day you had (well I did) pretty high expectations for the shadowy figure with the ringed eyes who led Akatsuki. The chapter fits with the story, but it wasn't very inventive.

I expected a bit more on those eyes of his as well but i suppose i'm going to have to wait. Where'd they come from?
They're basically all that separated him from every other hungry, homeless, puppy loving orphan out there. They allowed him the power to complete his dreams when, for the average orphan, it would remain just that, a dream. I want to know why his father didn't have them.

Lets be honest, we all know Kishimoto, there's a very distinct possibility that he didn't inherit them but got the eyes due to 'pain and hatred'.

I suppose Sasuke in that case would have a sharin'negan after coming home and finding everyone dead, then realising your brother who you practically worshipped did it then having said brother torture you for 72 hours with some crazy technique.

Even 'Zabuza-sama's tool' had a pretty sad and original backstory.

Pein's character deserves a lot more, it disappointing.

Which circle of Hell was it that puppy killers went to again?

I'll bet Hanzou runs it by now.

Does that count as a troll?

Seriously though, when the puppy died I may or may not have felt the slightest twinge of sadness.

Well if you go by Dante there are a bunch of different options, Hanzou committed a fair few sins, puppy killing I think it's fair to say was the worst of them however. He could go the fifth circle for being wrathful, then again he could go to the outer ring of the 7th circle for violence against someone's property. How about the 8th circle, Belgia 4 is for false prophets and sorcerors (those trickzy jutsu), Belgia 5 is for corrupt politicians, Belgia 9 is for the sowers of discord but I'm not sure if Hanzo qualifies for that. Dammit the choice is hard. He'd have to kill off a giant sword wielding demon if he went to Belgia 9 though.

You know, I actually agree with Howdy here. In fact, it seems that every week after the new Naruto manga comes out there's a couple of people giving some insightful remarks and the rest of them are whining or crying over how sucky it was.

Besides, how many flashbacks did Gaara or Sasuke or angst!character #3 have? The flashbacks aren't over, that's for sure, so let's stop bitching about the damn dog and see where Kishi is going with this.

Edit: Although, I will be supremely pissed off if after this, Naruto doesn't have the balls to finish Pain off. Seriously, seriously pissed off. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't happen a little like your new story, Howdy, with Madara coming in and doing it for him. Pain can have a sad flashback as much as he wants but he still attacked Konoha, killed who-knows-how-many people and levelled Naruto's home to dust.

You have no idea how many Uchiha fans want Madara to show up and finish of his "pawn" for failing to capture the Kyuubi.

Frankly I would despise this, since it would just be Kishimoto further weakening Nagato's character in favor of Madara's.

All that can be said here is epic chapter is epic.

Yahiko is a huge badass. Hanzou is a huge badass. Danzou didn't really do anything, but he gets some face time as well.

    I love it.

Yeah, the part where Naruto turned Super Saiyan was pretty epic as well.

EDIT: Oh crap, I didn't realise the spoilers for next week were out, I thought we were be sarcastic about no chapter this week.

But ditto on everything you just said. Danzou especially.

Was reading the spoilers when I noticed someone drew this picture of Konan.

Looks nice. Now If only Kishimoto could draw this well.

Also, Yahiko originally started Akatsuki? It also looks like he recruited most of ht people too.

Yahiko led a group of rebels that eventually became the current regime in Ame.

Akatsuki seems to be Nagato's brainchild.

That explains much. Are all the rebels, besides Nagato and Konan, dead then or will we see them reappear?
