No, people wonder why the Sharingan's become a Deus Ex Machina. There's powerful, then there's the Sharingan and its "I get a new power every fucking chapter" ability.

Because the first thing people do when they decide their family lost their way is kill everyone.

Itachi may admire Madara, we don't know. But what we do know is, Itachi is extremely powerful, and has reached his "full potential." He probably could challenge Madara if he so pleased, but then...why would he?

People hate Sasuke because 1) He's fucking emo as hell, 2) The story has been focusing way too much attention on him. Kishimoto may as well have named the story Sasuke, for all the attention he gets.

Sasuke is only a stepping stone, you're probably right there. However, this only exacerbates the problem with Naruto's story - Sasuke isn't that important, why the hell is he getting so much screentime?

BHA! i can't spell to save my life. So sue me.

...thats not true. If it were, don't you think the clan would have been even more powerful. The only reason it's like this is because Itachi and Madara are powerful.

...whats your point. Itachi has been Madara's mentor so we don't know the real reason why they decided to kill the clan.

...Are you listening to your self. I highly doubt Itachi is immortal...or invisible. And the way he talked about Madara its obvious Itachi couldn't even beat Pein. Otherwise he would be the one leading the Akatsuki.

Yep, Sasuke doesn't have the right to be emo because you know, it would have been so much better if Sasuke goes around being happy. Yep, all that watching your mother, father and the entire clan getting killed by your own brother, that the entire time your brother was only pretending to love you and lets not forget the life he led to that point was all a lie. Oh...thats right, the two and a half years he spent with Oro (what a peachy life). Yep, Sasuke shouldn't be emo at all....i'm being sarcasm here.

...why, being he is one of the characters. And it's naruto who's gotten more screen time than sasuke from the very beginning. Now it's sasuke's turn.

They were reasonable at the start. As of the timeskip, they started getting insane new abilities (like suppressing the Kyuubi, which as has been shown already, Sasuke can do despite not having the Mangekyou). Face it, the Uchiha clan has become a Deus Ex Machina because Kishimoto is catering to his fans too much.

Your message was implying that it was common sense to just slaughter a group of people for losing their ways as opposed to, you know, helping them get it back.

Itachi isn't immortal, but with Genjutsu could easily become invisible. Hell, he's pretty much done this with Sasuke about twice in the last few chapters.

For that matter, there's this thing called motivation. Itachi hasn't shown to really have all that much of it. Like I asked before, it's not can Itachi do it, it's why would he want to?

Oh, we understand why. He certainly does have some pretty good reasons for being emo, but that doesn't mean that we're going to like his character, despite this.

There's a reason Naruto got all that screen time. Do you want to know what that reason is? The manga is centered around him.. Hell, it's even named after him. The Naruto manga is not named "Shinobi," it is named "Naruto," because the story is about Naruto.

Now, it's Sasuke's turn. Why is it Sasuke's turn? This manga isn't about Sasuke, it's about Naruto. It's supposed to be about Naruto's journey. For that matter, up until the timeskip, Sasuke had one purpose in life - defeat Itachi. He's getting a hell of a lot of screen time for killing a single person.

What you're suggesting is that it would be okay if JKR would have spent a good book and a half focusing entirely on Draco Malfoy, from Draco Malfoy's point of view.

There's a reason JKR didn't. Why didn't she? Because the books were about Harry Potter, just as Naruto is supposed to be about Naruto.

Okay first of all you have to get is, whey you said suppressing the abilities, the sharingan is all about the power of the mind. So it's obvious he could suppress the demon. It's understandable because it's eyes are all about the mind. Also, if it were true, why is it that the first hokage could match up with madara's power in the past? The way people were talking about the eyes Madara would have been able to beat the first hokage easily.

Also, when you said kishi is katering to the fans why the hell is everyone hating on Sasuke so much?

You know, when i meant comman sense i'm talking about the ninjas point of view. Itachi is a psychopath so common sense doesn't apply to him.

...whats your point. I'm talking about invincible not becoming invisible. And thats why Madara is what he is from Itachi's point of view. And your comparing Sasuke to Madara. Why is that?

And what makes you think Itachi "could" do this. Yes, he is regarded powerful but invincible and immortal...highly unlikely.

Emo means people who wants to die...or cuts them selves. Not go after your own brother to kill him.

If it's always centered around naruto don't you think it would get boring? Not to mention the downfall of his reputation. Kishi has been centering many characters since the start of shuppudan like Shikamaru and the like. And many people enjoyed it. Why is it that when it came to sasuke, people hated it?

Listen, chapters comes only once a week. Count up how many chapters Sasuke's screen time and compare them to nartuo's since the start of Shippudan.

Yep...and that worked out so well didn't it? Seeing as the only thing JKR ever showed was Harry getting his ass kicked by malfoy and Snape was truly ingenious. Yep, many people hate that book because it didn't come up to anyones standards. I mean, If per chance that if JKR were to write Malfors point of view, don't you think she would have made improvements on Harry?

I for one, don't seem to mind this change in the manga. I mean sure, I dislike Sasuke as much as the next guy, but, these last few chapters haven't been so bad.

It's not what I expected from the series when I first started following it forever ago, but it's not that bad. Jiraiya's death has signaled a picking up in the manga.

JKR did not center her focus on Draco Malfoy because Malfoy is a character with no room for growth. Sasuke still has some potential. He could become a likable character. He just has to "grow up".

As for Naruto being the main character well, Kishi's not done Naruto any justice, so why bother? He's a pretty lame protagonist right now. The whole timeskip still doesn't make any sense. What did Naruto learn in 3 years? Nothing. All he has shown is that he can use a fancy jutsu that fucks up his arm (and isn't really cool anyway).

The manga would have done so much better if in Part 2, Kishi had decided to change the manga's name to "Shikamaru" – where Shikamaru totally kicks ass and travels the world. Seriously, the Narutoverse has a lot of potential for awesomeness, with all the different villages (which are not as nearly as ideal or progressive as Konoha) and ancient histories – a better author could have really explored quite a bit already. I mean, the best part of the series is Zabuza/Haku, and that was when you had two bad guys who were really just doing their job. A simple plot, but effective.

In response to comments about Naruto's move (which I hate also), yes it fucks him up, but the main thing that people seem to have forgotten is that it isn't perfect yet. They said so when he created the damn thing. He has yet to perfect his Fuuton: Rasengan.

About Sasuke and Itachi... I don't really give a shit, but I would like Itachi to die on principle (on account of him murdering his clan). At the same time, fandom has made Itachi into either the most powerful ninja ever, or something like that. I don't know of his fighting capabilities, because he uses Genjutsu so much.

My verdict on Naruto... please get rid of the orange. I HATE it.

Kishimoto is making shit up on the fly. Like I said, at the start, it was reasonable. Now, it sure as hell isn't. Now, it wouldn't make any sense for the Shodai Hokage to be able to match Madara. But then, Kishimoto probably forgot all about that.

Clarification! Sasuke is the most popular character in Japan. Around the states...not so much.

    Fair enough.

If you mean invincible, don't spell it invisible.

Itachi is an S-Class missing nin, and has shown to be about equal with Jiraiya without even trying. Naruto, at current, would still have trouble with 1/10 of his strength.

Also, Kishimoto hasn't entirely clarified how strong Itachi really is. For all we know, Itachi at full strength is stronger than Pein and Madara combined. That probably isn't the case, but then, we don't know.

Emo people are overly emotional people who just so happen to be depressed pretty often. Sasuke seems depressed, and he broods way too fucking much. It wouldn't be "wrong" to call Sasuke emo, though, again, that's not the main reason we hate him, just a reason.

Many manga are centered around their main characters, and are astoundingly well done. Let's look at Hellsing and GantZ for a moment. The former is focused around the Hellsing organization, specifically Alucard, Integra, Walter and Seras. The enemies get a few pages a chapter at most, and it's one of the best manga I've ever read.

GantZ! Centered around its main character, Kurono Kei (up until he died and "season 2" began, with a new lead). Guess what? As far as I'm concerned, that's the best fucking manga in existence. Naruto is nothing in comparison to GantZ. Bleach, which I regard more highly than Naruto, is still nothing in comparison to GantZ.

Naruto is still the main character. He should get 99.9% of the screen time. Other characters, with very little exception, should almost be getting screen time only when they're directly involved with Naruto.

Harry Potter failed because JKR wanted him to be a sacrificial lamb. If she wanted to do the story right, she would have made Harry strive to improve himself in books six and seven, finally coming to an epic showdown between him and Voldemort, in which he is effectively Voldemort's equal. Instead, JKR made him do jack shit, wrote herself into a corner by doing so, and relied on a Deus Ex Machina.

Oujou, just so you know you are starting to sound like the Naruto version of mugglenet. You will lap up any shit Kishi puts out no matter how bad it is and say it is so good. It's a very annoying form of the fanboy.

You want to know the main reason most people here in the states hate Sasuke? Go back and reread the Sasuke vs Deidara fight and the Naruto vs Kukazu fight. I mean really re-read them and tell me the difference between the two fights; notice how much time seemed to be put into the Sasuke/Deidara fight. How much shit Sasuke pulled off, the things he did when he had no chakra.

Now, look at Naruto vs Kukazu. The fight was short and had no flair, no suspense except for when Naruto hit the Rasenshuriken (which he messed up the first time). Fact is, Kishi nerfed the fuck out of Kukazu so Naruto could win, while Deidara was truly amazing showing why he is an S ranked missing nin. Kukazu was embarrassing, he had a lot of potential with his abilities. Instead, he justs sits in one spot not moving and gets killed.

I think that if the Naruto/Kukazu fight was like the Sasuke/Deidara fight a lot of people wouldn't be complaining so much. Sasuke showed a whole array of abilities in every thing from Ninjutsu, taijutsu, genjutsu, intelligence, etc. Naruto, used a one hit one kill jutsu and it was done. The only smart thing he did was get behind his enemy to hit him, but that is sorta basic when you think about it.

So it comes down to that people are not happy with the power differential between Naruto and Sasuke. I could care less how much screen time Sasuke gets, but I hate how much more powerful Sasuke seems compared to Naruto, even if Kishi keeps saying how strong Naruto is getting, I don't see it. Every time Naruto is given something to boost him it give him some kind of handicap.

And Naruto will not kill Madara, because Sasuke already said the person who helped Itachi is next on his list. We have already seen to what lengths Sasuke will go to complete his hit list. By the end of the series Sasuke will have killed more villains than the main character.

If you want to know how Kishi decides on how to do things? Look at the character polls. Sasuke, Kakashi and Deidara took the top 3 in the 2005 poll correct? Sasuke and Kakashi got huge boosts in power in part 2, and Deidara was a very good shinobi. Naruto dropped down to like 4, Kishi must have seen that people want more Sasuke and Kakashi so he improved them instead of Naruto.

Uhhhhh....no. Naruto is the character I want to read about. As he is the main character he is the character that the plot should involve the most. Yeah, side info on other characters is great and all, but I find it gets boring when you are away from the main charcter for too long.

You can't keep stating the screen time that Naruto has is more than Sasuke in PTS cause as Kishi said, in 2008 we are in for a whole lot of Sasuke.

Vagabond is very good and had exceptional art work. Berserk too has a great story and great art. Death Note if you are up to reading a lot of text.

Well, I've already read Death Note (loved it, by the way), but I'll look into Berserk and Vagabond, thanks.

Bleach does seem to have a lot of good badass moments for the heroes as well as the villains doesn't it?

As of right now the only logic to Kishi is that he wants to get everybody else's story out of the way and then finish with a truly aw inspiring climactic ending with Naruto becoming Hokage. (meaning the only way he will be able to save the series)

If you want an example of good character development look at the statistics for Bleach! Hitsugaya nearly ousted Ichigo as the number one favorite character with less screen time because the creator was talented enough to write in info for all the other characters (which are a lot) and still make them interesting.

This, of course, is why Diamond Dust Rebellion even exist.

This is about Naruto so stop comparing Bleach to other series. What was the point of your post anyway? And are you an idiot?! Character development?! Naruto had so much character development it's not even funny.

Fan boy i am not and the only thing i'm using is logic. Sasuke maybe one of my favorite characters but favorism is not on my list. And even if i were a fanboy, what does that make you? Anti Sasuke? Goodness knows there are enough to start a cult and starts using Voodoo to kill Sasuke through Kishi

Oh come on. Everyone already knew naruto's strongest point is "not" tact. We knew when the series started. And there are only a few times that Naruto comes with basic yet effective strategies that beats there opponent on someway or another. Naruto is more like Zaraki Kampchi, a brawler and everyone loves that character. Sasuke is a genius. Naruto is not. This is common sense and why people don't get that is because they keep comparing Naruto to Sasuke. Thats why people are so pissed off. Just look at the fanfiction. There are so much garbage and no closure at all. They treat Sasuke like crap and naruto like some kind of king with no reason at all.

I'm no fan boy, all i'm saying is that when it comes to sasuke and naruto, they always compare them together. It's ridiculous and thats why people hate Sasuke all because of the power difference between them at the early stage in the series.

snort yea, and he'll die trying. Probably piss his pants in fear while hes at it. There is a reason why Madara is so goddamn strong.

Okay...I'll make you a bet. I'll bet you that Naruto is the one to kill Madara. If your wrong, well, i'm right and i proved it through logic...as close as my logic is.

One - There was a prophecy containing Naruto and Nagato/Pein to save the world.

Two - The world is gonna get fucked over by Madara thus, he is the bad guy, the true villain.

Three - Pein/Nagato is being controlled by Madara, so hes pretty much out.

Four - Sasuke is, like i said before, a stepping stone for naruto to overcome. Aka Sasuke is gonna feel like a jackass after he gets his ass kicked by Naruto.

Five - Naruto is the only one who can kill Madara because for once he gets the power from that key or something an whatnot, there is gonna be a climatic battle. Naruto is gonna win at the rank of Genin and becomes a Hokage. Done series. YEAA!!

One piss is full of fail.

Vagabond is more than very good, it's just awesome.

Come on man, stop trying it's becoming kinda awkward. We dislike Sasuke, we want to see Naruto kick ass and then kishi tells us that Sasukeke is going to have even more screentime... Even with the most logical argument it's going to piss us of.
Actually... that's one of your best idea. Hmmm anybody know if "Voodoo for the dummies" has been published?

    Riiiiiight...

In the end thats all there is to it. People hate Sasuke because right now, he is stronger than Naruto. Plain and simple. Thats pretty pitiful if you ask me.

    Okay...

Okay... this is a real problem with the plot and you're drawing assumptions about Madara's importance regarding controlling the tailed beasts. You have to think about the full backstory to understand what I mean by this.
First off, lets establish some facts.
The Biijuu (tailed beasts) have been around for a long time... with some indications that they existed long before any of the established characters, villages, or events. Case in point Gaara's beast Shukaku is one of the most recently captured tailed beasts and has been sealed into two previous citizens long before it was sealed into Gaara. Before that... it had been captured by a monk sacrificing his spirit to seal it in a tea kettle and that appears to have happened a long long time ago in the series.

That said, if the Sharingan main purpose and claim to fame was it's ability to seal or control the Kyuubi, then Madara's existence really doesn't matter, because that claim was established BEFORE madara was ever born. He was born into the clan... and that clan was already known for it's work sealing tailed beasts and using the sharingan to do that. Edit: Note, Konoha has only existed since the 1st Hokage, and they're only on their 5th right now... and to be honest it doesn't look like the villages were around a long time... but the clan lines appear to be a good deal longer in history.

How do we know this? Simple. We've had the story of madara growing up with a rival and young brother in the backstory around them. We know his rival also had the sharingan... in a family with the sharingan., and that Madara took his eyes to gain the permanent Magekyo... so that means several things. First it indicates he grew up in a as part of the Uchiha clan. And clans don't just spring up overnight, they take time to form and establish themselves.(I know I'm dragging this out... but I can see that you're one of those people that need to have every link of the chain detailed for them or they'll just refuse to see the logical connections out of obtuseness and to deny points that contradict their arguements) And if he had the Sharingan then that would indicate that the Uchiha were already using the Sharingan as well... and seeing as it's original claim to fame was the ability to handle tailed beasts... clearly that power doesn't start with Madara since his claim to fame was realizing powers of the Sharingan that noone had previously mastered.

The point being... logically, you don't have to have the full functionality of the sharingan (if Madara is the only one to have truly reached it's full potential) to use it to suppress the Kyuubi. So chronologically it works like this.
    1. Kyuubi exists long before the Sharingan is around.
    2. Kyuubi makes life tough for people and eventually someone comes up with creating the bloodline for the Sharingan or someone discovers that the Sharingan is capable of suppressing the Kyuubi. Thus is born the "purpose" for the Sharingan.
    3. Madara is born... and eventually maxes out the sharingan.

Thus... Madara's existence has no real importance or impact on the issue of the tailed beasts. Someone used the Sharingan before him (and thus without it's full functionality) to suppress the Kyuubi previously... thus came the legend of their ability to control tailed beasts.

As a result of this...we end up with a logic loop.
If the Uchiha were in Konoha during the attack, they would have helped. And since it has been established that their specific bloodline was the tool used to handle the Kyuubi, they should have been able to do so. But clearly they didn't, as shown by the 4th sacrificing himself.

The key part is that Kishimoto is claiming that that was the purpose of the Sharingan now to handle Biijuu... it contradicts the prior events in the story in ways that are totally illogical.

Slow down a little. I'm pretty sure you didn't mean to type CON MAN sense there. And yes, people do tend to miss the little details... like you're doing.
The little details like the fact that there is apparently a setting timeline and history to consider. If the Uchiha's bloodline had the purpose of controlling the tailed beasts... or at least suppressing them... then that sort of family purpose or family history would have to predate Madara. Because let's be clear about this, Madara didn't found the Uchiha line, he was born into it.

But, that's my main grief with Part II. Kishi just makes shit up and expects people to ignore anything that contradicts the latest made up shit. Continuity is important and he's not paying attention from all indication.

Take Kakashi telling Naruto that he's surpassed him... or is better than him for making then new wind shuriken jutsu. We're just supposed to accept this claim?

    Bullshit.

Kakashi had to save his stupid ass when he went to fight Kakuzu. He just charged right the fuck in and nearly got his ass killed. How is this surpassing him?
And Naruto's victory over Kakuzu... what a fucking piece of shit. Kakuzu with decades of experience gets taken in by Naruto's Kage Bunshin fake strategy? My god... Kishimoto basically has to lobotomize his villians for Naruto to be able to kill them.

Naruto has the world's best mental/physical training trick in the whole series with his Kage Bunshin training... and he STILL acts like a fucking retard. He could send a hoard of clones into a jutsu library to master hundreds of individual jutsus, or baring that send them to all the various high level shinobi to get help to learn them, He could learn tactics, better himself intellectually through study, become more mature and more intelligent... but instead he continues to act like the poster child for ADHD and pretends to not understand anything more than the simplest explanations.

The problem with Kishimoto is that he's given Naruto the tools to success, if he'd just grow the fuck up and use them properly. But instead, Kishi continues to have Naruto act like a retard, and tries to substitute flashy jutsus for actual character advancement and growth.

I also echo the points raised about the comparison of Naruto's fight with Kakuzu to Sasuke's fight with Diedara. Sasuke was shown to have advanced to unbelievable heights in all areas of shinobi ability... to the point that it feels like he's a fucking Gary Stu character now... that he can pull anything he likes out of his ass to defeat anything. While Naruto essentially can't win a fight unless Kishimoto nerfs the fuck out of his opponents and have them make utter fools of themselves.

You know why Naruto is kept the retard? Because without Naruto being a fucking dolt Kishimoto would have no way of explaining things to the reader. He needs a way to explain things like elemental chakra and shape manipulation to us, the reader; and the best way to do that is make a character ignorant about it so it is explained to both us and the character.

Edit: You know what else kinda pissed me off. In part 1 Naruto gave this long winded speech to Neji about fate and destiny and about how he control his own shit and does what ever he wants. Now, in part 2 we find that Naruto is supposed to be some kind of destined one. Kind of contradicting, yes? Not sure about you guys, but to me that looks to me that Kishimoto has forgotten about part 1.

Meh... I'm not disagreeing with you... but remember in the Wave Arc when he had Sakura do her little exposition piece?

That worked out okay, and she was lecturing both Naruto and Sasuke. I mean neither of them got the chakra tree climbing exercise all that well... so there's plenty of opportunity to work with. In fact in that case Sasuke finally swallowed his pride and even asked Naruto about what tips Sakura gave him, so even the genius type aren't above exposition in the setting.
    True true.

Well, all that said, there have been a number of really nice bright points to part II.

We've seen that Sasuke, Naruto, and Sakura are becoming what the Sannin should have been. Meaning that where Jiraiya and Tsunade never were able to get together... it's looking more and more like Naruto and Sakura are. And that the Darkness that corrupted and consumed Orochimaru will be eventually overcome by Sasuke. There's more to it... but I like the parallel of how the previous Sannin are shown to be broken (meaning they never got the life that they wanted for themselves) while this new generation seems to be getting right what they got wrong.

We've got an actual background plot that take place on a larger political scale driving the story now.

We've got an interesting paradox with Kakashi's Mangekyo Sharingan... compared to Itachi's and Madara's. Think about it. Clearly Kakashi didn't go out and kill his best friend to get his Mangekyo... so that sorta indicates that Kakashi discovered a path to the Mangekyo that doesn't require murder and mayhem. It could mean that there's a light path to the Mangekyo and a dark one.

Plenty more interesting tidbits in there.

There has been some good content in part II. I just wish Kishi would stop letting fan polls drive the character development.

I don't know where you're getting your info Garrett P.I, but it has been stated in the manga that Madara was the founder of the Uchiha clan (http://manga.unrivaled.info/showimg.php?file=/Naruto/370/ch370_UK_Page_16.png). Therefore, it can be assumed that there were no other Sharingan users before him.

The Kyuubi himself said that Sasuke's chakra was as sinister as Madara's chakra, or, to be correct, more sinister than his own. (http://manga.unrivaled.info/showimg.php?file=/Naruto/309/ch309_UK_Page_03.png)

Now, think of everything in context to Naruto; the importance of friends and all that bull. You thinking? Good. Now think of the Uchiha, and what's been said in the manga. Itachi said that Sasuke had the potential to awaken the Mangekyou, but under one condition: he had to kill his best friend. He did not say "to awaken the mangekyou sharingan you must kill your best friend." Thinking in these terms, it not such a far stretch for Sasuke's or Madara's chakra to be more sinister than a demon's. Being best friends creates(according to Kishi's world) bonds to the heart and the soul. Chakra is a reflection of your soul. Killing those bonds would blacken your soul.

The Kyuubi is a collection of human malice, but because he experiences no human emotions (besides those tht created him) can be thought of as an animal. Now, which is more sinister, a Tiger that kills a man, or a man that kills his best friend?

With all this being said, I agree with most of you; Kishimoto need's to get off of Sasuke's nuts. But, at the same time, I believe that the Uchiha story is integral to understanding what will happen with Naruto later on, because everything is pointing to Naruto being re-fuckin-diculous. Yin and Yang chakra, Kage Bunshin training, battle experience against S-class ninja, prophecy's.... the only thing is getting through an entire year of Sasuke.

The problem is not really that Sasuke is stronger than Naruto, but more that the gab between them seems so wide. And frankly, sasuke must fuck lady luck pretty often cause frankly everythings go smoothly for him. Teamates that kick ass, sharingan, orochimaru who seems a better teacher than jiraya, sharingan and sharingan.

Actually... here ya go. Confirmed for chapter 386
    The translation from narutofan forums
    (yasha)
Madara also had a brother...a younger brother. The two always competed with each other when they were small. They both activated the Sharingan, which made them special in their clan. They grew up together competing with each other...eventually they obtained the Mangekyo Sharingan through their own understanding.

But some strange changes started to appear in Madara's body. Having gained the tremendous eye power...the price is to lose the eyesight. Madara felt desperate.

    Madara: Forgive me...
    Younger Brother: Kyaaa

Itachi: He took his younger brother's eyes and with them he could see new light again. The eyes had not lost sight ever since. They became eternal Mangekyo Sharingan.

Itachi: SASUKE!! You're my new light! You're my spare!! Come to me, my little brother!!

Sasuke sees all these in Itachi's mind.
Sasuke: So you did everything for this...finally...I understand.

So, thus we know that this clan existed that had the sharingan first... and that Madara was born into this clan and WAS NOT UNIQUE in having the Sharingan. If he had it, and his brother had it... then it came from their parents... ne? Just like in Konoha, not every member of that clan was able to awaken the Sharingan. Awakening it made you special to the clan.

What's even better is that now we know precisely why Itachi left Sasuke alive.
Apparently Sasuke is nothing but spare parts to Itachi. His intention is to extract Sasuke's eyes and take them for himself. This will restore Itachi's eyesight (he's going blind) and will ensure he never loses it again.
