I'm convinced (deluded) that Sasuke's attempt to get to Konoha will fail miserably.

After all, he's got Kumo, Kabuto, and Madara with a bone to pick with him right now. If he actually makes it to Konoha, I can only hope that he encounters a Naruto that is at the end of his fuse given all of the physical, emotional, and ideological stress he's undergone.

Basically Sasuke is my least favorite character, mostly because he appeals to so many people despite being a piece of shit who should have, and deserved to, die a number of times in this story.

Kishimoto forgot to leave him with any redeaming attributes, and I hate his character for it.

 

I figured out what it is. That shading on his face looks really damn weird.

 

Naru/Konan ftw

Oh well, the arc is done with and hopefully Danzou can do something interesting in the manga.

 

This arc was not a waste it was just Kishimoto's way of showing how much better Naruto is than Sasuke.

Sasuke goes through a tragedy and can't focus on anything but revenge.

He doesn't really seem to care what he is getting revenge on, seeing how easily he switches from hating Itachi to Konoha.

Whereas Naruto faces a tragedy as well but is able to forgive the man who caused it.

Naruto grows as a character while Sasuke is stuck in the same revenge mindset he has had since he was a kid.

I don't think him showing up for a page or two brought this chapter down, it was a reminder that Sasuke is can't really compare to the man Naruto is growing to be.

But maybe that's just a bunch of bs and I'm reading into things too much.

 

Anyone else remember that Konan is late 30s-early 40s? I hope no saggy tits are starting, other wise, yay for Naru/Konan.

Btw sferics, that's an incredibly touching and well-reasoned explanation, but I can't imagine Kishimoto actually meant that.

With that rationale shouldn't Naruto have died 1000 times over as well? I mean honestly I don't get why people like him as a main character. He was a substandard ninja at the start of this series and the only real reason he became more than that is the 9 tails and his personality attracting powerful ninjas willing to help him along the way. I don't even see what is so amazing about his personality. If I met a guy that acted like him irl I'd probably have the urge to pound him into the ground. I'd much prefer a story about Lee, Sasuke (before he left to join the Sound), or Neji where we would have a main character who isn't so annoying.

Agreed Naruto/Konan FTW, but yes I have to say that Naruto could be a much better main character but that doesn't mean I have to like Sasu, in fact i think he may be my least fav character in manga history.

 

The problem with Sasuke is that he doesn't have any redeeming qualities. He had all of the opportunity in the world to become a good, sympathetic character but failed in every respect.

On top of that, Kishimoto went out of his way to make Sasuke look cool/powerful, but in the end it backfired because it makes his character seem even more shallow.

To me, at least.

I really want him to show up in Konoha simply to have Naruto beat the shit out of him after growing tired of posturing after his encounter with Nagato.

I want Sasuke to be laid low - really low - because despite all of his close scrapes and failings, Sasuke is still portrayed as a "genius." I want to see him fail miserably.

Luckily there's a fair chance of this happening due to the inevitability of Naruto conscripting Sasuke to his cause.

 

Naruto became powerful only because of the 9 tail? Should I remind you about Rasengan training? Or wind manipulations exercises? Oh! I remember! He just had those wonderful eyes that let him cheat and just copy other's people hard earned results.
And you would pound such a person as Naruto to the ground in rl? Really? Many people would give their left arm just to have a friend that would go to hell and back just to help them.

And Sasuke... Just look at Sferics post. Nothing to add to it.

 

Sigh this is what Im afraid of, Im starting to get this nagging feeling of some five issue spiel after their enormous fight where they make up and decide to go fight Madara together. More than anything with Sasuke I want him to get to Konoha and have Naruto casually kill him with a sage mode Rasengan and then move the hell on. However I know this will never ever happen.

 

1. Naruto showed his potential quite well:

1. ambushing Sasuke at the Academy (the rookie of the year no less!)
2. some impressive evasion skills (Not sure whether it was the KMP or the ANBU who chased him after all his pranks)
3. defeated Mizuki, a chunin who gave Iruka trouble and was only stalled on advancing to jonin because of his conduct
4. defeated Kiba and Neji
5. created his own taijutsu move in less than an hour and without the use of the Sharingan
6. defeated Gaara, though it was with the aid of Gamabunta
7. learned the Rasengan in a matter of weeks
8. aided in the defeat of Kakazu and Hidan
9. defeated that Konoha turned Rain jonin with the Nidaime Hokage's blade
10. faced Sasuke one on one before the Retrieval Arc and was his equal in the spar

And these are just the things off the top of my head.

Really? You'd jump a kid who is nothing but optimistic, dreams of reaching his goal, and is the most loyal friend you could possibly have? That really says a lot about your character.

*facepalm* Then go read those lovely Sasuke-centric fics where he is the Uber-shinobi of the leaf, and rapes everyone with his Sharingan. Naruto was twelve at the beginning of the series, and no doubt everyone here was annoying at that age. Neji, Sasuke and Lee has major issues that stopped them from being regular kids.
