I haven't watched many of the last one hundred eps of the anime, but is it just me or has the animation become really weird? I seem to recall it being much better during the Sasori arc (I stopped watching after Naruto went Kyubbi 4 tails).

 

The animation for the Bee and Sasuke fight as complete crap. Reminded me a bit of DBZ super speed flicker shock wave style drawings where you don't really see anything and are forced to assume that what you're not seeing is very epic.

Chapter is out and Danzo continues to punk the fuck out of Sasuke

 

Anyone knows what if that was a seal Sasuke touched on his arm before rushing towards Danzo in the end?

 

It's the storage seal that allows him to summon shuriken, like he did against Itachi.

I guess we know now how Madara survived Hashirama's killing blow, and why his mask has a hole for only one eye, and why his power was greatly diminished in their battle.

I don't see Danzou doing much of anything after this battle, assuming he survives. It seems he only packed enough punch to fight one strong opponent.

The funny thing to me about these fights is that while they're riddled with super!skills, a guy like Jiraiya would have slaughtered Danzou easily despite Izanagi. He's just a better ninja.

What I'm trying to say, I guess, is that "good" ninja are becoming more and more scarce while "haxxed" ninja are becoming more prevalent. Too bad.

 

Agreed. All Sasuke seems to be doing is wasting a shit ton of chakra by having Susano'o on at all times to force Danzo into using up Izanagi. I'm pretty sure Jiraiya or Sarutobi could keep up that kind of pressure without needing a super chakra consuming hax technique.

 

Heh, for some reason I keep thinking Izanagi is more or less the Prince's Sands of Time. Turn death into a harmless genjutsu!

Well, I suppose it's possible he's got more sharingans being stored and kept fresh; presumably he got a lot more than ten eyes out of having the entire Uchiha clan slaughtered.

The only really good moment in this fight so far is when Danzo called Sasuke out on the fact that his insane effort to "avenge" Itachi basically consists of trying to destroy everything Itachi believed in.

 

One thing I'm curious about is the fact that it was mentioned a few times that Orochimaru experimented on Danzo and implanted his sharingans.

Am I missing something here? Wasn't his whole goal from the beginning to attain the sharingan? Why didn't he just take some of them for himself? What would he gain from implanting them in Danzo? Seems like Danzo gets a whole lot out of the deal basically for free.

I'm pretty sure I'm missing something simple about this scenario though.

 

Agreed. Someone like Jiraiya, 3rd Hokage, or Kakashi would simply need to survive the first few minutes against Sasuke or Danzou before preceding to wipe the floor with them. I include Kakashi because to me he seems to be by far the most well rounded ninja from Konoha since Jiraiya's death. Kakashi has a sharingan sure, but he doesnt rely on it nearly as much as Sasuke, Madara, or Itachi.

 

Transfered sharingan eats up your chakra really fast(see Kakashi during Wave arc). Absorving Sasuke's body with his functional sharingan would be better in the long run.

And who knows, he most likely had a couple ways to power-up the sharingan after all those experiments.

 

So, good to know that Danzo probably has more chakra than Kisame and Naruto combined. I mean Kakashi is out of juice once he uses Kamui two times or keeps his sharingan active while using normal techs but Danzo can summon that huge-ass stupid animal, has (over) ten sharingans, uses the "forbidden" Uchiha technique, uses Mokuton and keeps spamming jutsu and still doesn't look that concerned.

Also I seem to have misunderstood something about Izanagi but didn't Madara say it is the ultimate illusion on oneself? So how can those attacks be of any effect on other people? I mean I could buy the fact that one can "ignore" fatal injuries and such, belief and all that shit, but making the attacks real would either mean he can create attacks/weapons/beings out of thin air which either I misunderstood or is not an illusion anymore, at least not at "oneself".

I wouldn't be so sure, but I don't understand this partnership anyways. Orochimaru wants to destroy Konoha while Danzo does not, he wants to rule it. A few months ago I might have said that he loves Konoha but since the invasion that is clearly not the case and he doesn't seem to mind ruling over a city that has lost 3/4 of its citizens and military force. But collaborating with the guy who outright wants to destroy the city and raze it to the ground doesn't make much sense to me.

The timing is also off, Oro left the village before the massacre and before the kyuubi attack, so how come Jiraya never found Oro, but Danzo seemed to locate him effortlessly. Is it normal for Danzo to leave the village for longer periods of time without anyone noticing? Did no Hyuuga ever saw with their Byakugan? Not once?

Also, Demons In The Night raises a valid point, what does Oro get out of this? For someone who wants sharingan eyes so desperately he sure seems to ignore opportunities. Danzo has like all the eyes to his disposal the clan had, but he doesn't give two to Oro? And Oro agrees? Why should Oro also give up on the Mokuton? I mean he tried it on babies and thought it didn't work, now Danzo wants it too, so he can make it work for him, but doesn't capitalize it for himself? What about "I want to learn all techniques"?

And I don't think we will get answers to that.

This, makes you appreciate Jiraya and the Sandaime so much more since they were badass ninja without bloodlines. One of them even known as the God of the Shinobi.

On a similar note, we've got the first episode of the new filler arc in the anime out today; looks vaguely intriguing since it's not developing in the obvious and expected direction.

Plus, it's always interesting to see another one of the jinchuriki getting a bit of screen time. It's a pity that only three of the nine really get to play a major role in the series.

 

The way I'm understanding Izanagi is that it doesn't necessarily just affect yourself but everything you perceive as reality. If you believe something is real then it is and vice versa, with Izanagi on Danzou has complete control of reality around him. You could stab him through the heart and blow off an arm but all he has to do is think that it didn't happen and suddenly it didn't. However it also functions externally in that I don't think the big animal Danzou brought out was so much a summon as it was simply his belief made fact. The underlying principle basically being Danzou controls reality with it.

 

First of all, the summon is real. Danzou even said summoning jutsu.

And, its getting pretty ridiculous, the Sharingan's abilities. In the 3 Tomoe form alone, you can suppress/control biju, control minds, and use a jutsu that pretty much rends you immortal, for a small period of time.

Add that on top of the Sharingan's normal abilities and the Mangekyou/Eternal Mangekyou, you get one of the most broken powers ever.

 

Sharingan has been pretty ridiculously broken ever since the reveal that 3 tomoe sharingan > Kyuubi.

IMO, Izanagi isn't as bad as a lot of the other sharingan powers; being able to survive a fatal attack in exchange for permanently losing sight in one eye is at least somewhat reasonable. Being able to spam SuperUltimate Susanoo that combines an unbreakable defense and unblockable attack without any real downside, on the other hand...

Now, the fact that Izanagi represents yet another random superpower Kishimoto has given the sharingan (and the fact that, given current trends, Sasuke will probably manifest an even stronger version of it that doesn't include the very big downside because he has the power of hate and evil chakra) is rather aggravating.

 

Honestly, to me, the Sharingan seems sort of like a parasite. In exchange for its abilities, the user must fight to awaken and advance it, kill your best friend, and transplanting your brothers eyes. It just seems to me like it feeds off of darker emotions,battle, and blood in exchange for power

 

Well, yeah. That's the logical explanation for it, in universe.

When looking at it from a reader's perspective looking at a story? It ain't that. It's the writer being lazy and/or stupid and/or screwing with the fans.

Naruto was a lot cooler when it was the Wave Country arc, obviously, because there were actual fun fight scenes. Versus the 'Hey, I can pull this new super power out of my ass that beats yours OH WAIT YOU SAY YOU HAVE A SUPER POWER THAT BEATS MINE? NOW HERE'S ANOTHER SUPERPOWER OUT OF MY ASS THAT BEATS *THAT*!' way that things have been going.
