I think that happens at the Kage Summit when Sasuke's attacked by the Raikage and his guards. If we accept that this is what happened to him then the story of Itachi's sacrifice and the need for vengeance will go down the drain very soon. In his mind, it'll no longer be, "I'll avenge my Brother!"; it'll be, "I'll just kill everyone and/or die!", no matter what he says out loud. Basically Sauske'll have become a madman. And in that case I can't see a redemption happening, Sasuke'll have to die.

But redemption of Sasuke has to happen for the Manga to have meaning. It'll be the crowning achievement of Naruto - to succeed where everyone else failed. With that he'll have surpassed those that came before him (viz. Jiraiya) in every possible way.

Ah well, just rambling. But I feel that Sasuke was much much better written in the first part. His character feels so contrived now, its almost painful.

Wow, it almost looks as if Naruto will win, hold hi hand to his chest while saying some emotional thing loudly, hell maybe even cry, and suddenly Sasuke will have tears in his eyes and omg what's this? REDEMPTION!

 

Sasuke is an idiot. He barely got by Danzo and believes he can beat Naruto?

 

Seriously, this makes me want to give up all hope I have of this manga going anywhere worthwhile...just want to leave...seriously:

 

I liked precisely two parts of this chapter; when Naruto grew a spine and shoved Kakashi out of the way, and when he explained that his and Sasuke's positions could easily be reversed. The rest sucked balls, though the pose Sasuke pulled will likely look pretty cool in the anime.

 

Yeah, Sasuke has pretty clearly gone off the deep end; I'm not sure how Kishimoto is going to redeem him (if, as looks quite likely, that's the plan), because by this point he's become a completely insane psychopath. I have a hard time seeing anything short of Redemption Equals Death being able to salvage Sasuke by this point; he's just too far gone.

Also, it does bug me a bit that we got a reprise of Chidori vs. Rasengan; why did Naruto go to all the trouble of learning to use wind chakra with his rasengan if he's not going to use it to beat Sasuke's lightning attacks?

That sadi, I do have to agree with Aekiel that Naruto explaining how he could have ended up being like Sasuke was nicely done.

 

I'm still annoyed that Naruto's jacket makes him look like a fatty.

 

There is no third option. This is a fight to the death, between two people of equal power, though Naruto had better be stronger.

In any case, he can either go all out and kill Sasuke (fucker should be dead already if he's lost that much blood), or he can hold back and get himself killed. It's as simple as that.

Sakura is, at best, a B-class ninja if she were in the Bingo Book. Meanwhile, Naruto and Sasuke are probably both pushing S if they aren't already there, and the same goes for Kakashi.

As for what I liked about this chapter, my favorite part was Kakashi essentially telling Sakura that she'd be useless for the fight, so she can't go all sacrifice and cause Naruto to go Apocalypse Now Mode.

Finally, what the fuck is Naruto thinking, grabbing Kakashi like that and ignoring a direct order? The man is his superior, and I don't give two shits if he's Tsunade's surrogate son or not, that's still insubordination along with whatever the hell else you could want to tack on. I realize that Naruto isn't going to catch any heat for that, but it's still irritating as shit that Naruto feels that he must be the one to fight Sasuke.

Fuck, he'd better not have another panic attack in the middle of the fight.

 

It looked like he was using wind chakra when he formed it but he only said rasengan so I'm not sure.

It would be nice to find sasuke without half his body because naruto put in some wind chakra and sausake didn't realise the rasengan was so much more powerful than he had seen before.

 

A better chapter this. Naruto's actually beginning to look like a powerful ninja. Not so long ago, if a chapter ended the way this one did, I'd be expecting to find Naruto beaten and bloody, first page of the next chapter. This time I'm actually expecting Sasuke to get thrashed and Naruto looks like he can actually do it.

Also, what was that dimension thingy that they had their dialogue in? Something Sasuke caused, something Naruto caused or some random BS?

Don't think its a matter of belief anymore. Sasuke's gone so far off the deep end that soon every living human is going to be someone to kill for some irrational reason. He's a mad raving lunatic psychopath now (Even if his words don't prove it, the way Kishimoto drew his face certainly does).

Sasuke'll have to lose this one. He can't use the sharingan and his body's been pretty badly abused during the fight with Danzo. And he doesn't have any backup...though I'm feeling Madara should be showing up soon.

Wonder what'll happen to the 4th Ninja War...

 

You're kidding, right?

Naruto doesn't have any superiors post-Pain, and he and everyone else knows it. Pretty much everything around him happens at his whim, and the other characters can only be thankful that he isn't a nut like Sasuke.

 

Kakashi is his Hokage and we know Naruto respects that position a great deal. Plus he is his sensi and team leader, yet I doubt anyone could convince Naruto on anything Sasuke related. He tricked Tenzou and chased after Sasuke.

Naruto may have seen what is nessecary and is giving Sasuke a final chance by saying he understands why Sasuke is doing what he is doing yet he is not forgiving him for what he is doing by the action of attacking him.

 

When did this happen?

Post Pain nobody can order Naruto to do shit just like Howdy said. He only chooses to follow orders because he is loyal nothing more. If he has to break orders to do what he wants then it will happen and nobody can do shit about it.

 

In anything else Naruto would probably listen but this is Sasuke. And Kakashi probably would have killed Sasuke before Naruto had a chance to talk to Sasuke.

But I agree that Naruto doesnt really have a superior anymore. I say he is more like Jiraiya than ever. Capable of doing what he wants when he wants. They can ask him to do something but that doesn't necessarily mean he will do it. But as long as Kakashi is asking I think Naruto will probably listen.

 

That's not to mention that Naruto's attitude has pretty much always been that following orders takes second place to doing what he thinks is right; I'm pretty sure Kakashi is used to him doing this sort of thing by now. After all, Kakashi has been encouraging exactly that sort of thinking ever since the Bell Test.

 

Does anyone else think that this battle is going to be one-sided as hell? Sasuke doesn't even have to power to hold his Sharingan, and he thinks that he can go toe to toe against a fresh Naruto?

 

Well, Sakura was a dumbass and got Naruto poisoned, so there's a small chance that could come into play.

I don't think that this will be a particularly long fight. It's really unbelievable that Sasuke can go head to head with Naruto right now given he's MS-less. I mean Naruto is on even keep with Sasuke using his most basic Rasengan and without Sage Mode.
