Nope. I think Madara is going to succeed with his 10-tail plan and make himself the Jinchuriki, and then Naruto will use his Sage powers and whatever Itachi gave him to fight alongside Sasuke and defeat him.

The fifth picture, and the last eye-only picture. Loads of people seem to think that it's Madara's eye, not Kyuubi's - you can't really tell.

Was it stated in canon that Naruto was the only Uzumaki in Konoha? If the clan was as large historically powerful as they seem to be, and if Uzu and Konoha had such good relations, then it could be possible that there are a bunch unrelated Uzumaki running around.

Kind of like having the last name Jones in America.

If so then it wouldn't be unreasonable for people to not make the connection between Kushina and Naruto.

Blond hair isn't all that uncommon in Konoha. So they wouldn't be able to tie him to Minato that way either.

 

Probably that's how Kishimoto wanted to show Madara taking control of the Kyuubi. Seems a bit Legend-of-the-Seeker-ish to me, but I doubt he watched it.

 

No, it's never explicitly stated, but given Naruto's reputation in Konoha, I would certainly expect to have heard of them before now. Besides which, if there were any other Uzumaki in Konoha, I would have expected them to take him in, or at least feature in his life in some way.

If we discover that there are more Uzumaki then we have seen, I don't know if it would be canon-incompliant, but it sure as hell would stink of a last-minute retcon to make sense out of bullshit.

 

The last picture is still Kyuubi's eye, I'm pretty sure. At first I thought Madara was sacrificing a sharingan to control the Kyuubi, which would explain his creepy collection of family eyes. However, rereading, I saw on a later page: http://mangastream.com/read/naruto/16120179/13

Also, I think it's safe to say now that Madara will succeed in getting the Kyuubi out of Naruto, since the precedent has been set for Uzumaki's surviving the extraction process

 

I maintain it's Madara's eye and it's the eternal technique to control tailed demons. You see his pupil slowly dilate and then it fully dilates.

Somehow I think that Kushina didn't control the kyuubi's power and that will make the difference with Naruto.

Otherwise, Sasuke will beat Naruto, Madara comes out of the shadows, steals Kyuubi, Sasuke goes all WTF, beats Madara and Kyuubi together and they live happily ever after.

 

I call bull. Minato screwed the pooch and made the personal decision to save Naruto instead of getting the jinchuuriki out of there.

Now Naruto gets to know that the leaf village was attacked because his dad decided put him before the village.

And maybe a bit of perspective on why Naruto wasn't to well liked. Being the child that was more important than the village, the reason that the Hokage allowed the jinchuuriki to be captured and the fox released. I doubt all but the highest ranking council members and clan heads new, which is probably the only reason Minato's face was left on the mountain.

Don't get me wrong, I understand the imperative to save his child, but as Hokage . . . it was a major fuck up moment.

Uh, so you think that if Minato had let Naruto get killed before his and Kushina's eyes Kushina would have somehow summoned the fortitude to fight back the Kyuubi? Do you think that Madara would have just stood there and let Minato repair the seal?

I'm also pretty sure that nobody but the elders, Hiruzen, and Minato knew that Kushina was a jinchuuriki.

 

I'm thinking that Minato could have gotten away with Kushina and back to try and save Naruto without Madara being able to stop him.

Kushina's chances of keeping the Kyubi in check by herself while Minato goes back to get Naruto were obviously a hell of a lot better than if she's left alone with the Uchiha.

Possibilities:

1) Worst case: Minato gets back and Naruto is dead. Then Minato still gets to go back and help Kushina, provided that Madara doesn't (try to) kill him. Not likely to happen because Naruto seems to be Madara's only major bargaining chip and if Madara was that powerful he would have killed Minato first.

2) Minato gets back and both Madara and his son are gone. (Maybe Madara leaves a note to bring Kushina to [blank] immediately)

3) Best case: Madara demands Kushina return the moment Minato returns or he really will kill Naruto, scene from manga ensues.

While this would introduce significant risk to Naruto, its over-weighed by the possible consequences of the Kyubi falling into the hands of an hostile enemy.

And I would agree that the public at a whole didn't know about Kushina, but I'd bet money that the Uchiha and Hyuuga heads new, on account of their bloodlines and some of the Anbu Commanders definitely knew.

 

I think that Minato saving Naruto first was only natural reaction you can expect from parent. It's not like he had time to think about the best way to handle this situation and in most cases parents think about child safety first.

Was it just me or was that Iruka as an ANBU? I know his parents died in the attack, and I'm not sure that the timelines match up, but that ponytail is pretty distinctive. And it's not Skikaku, as he's featured on page 8.
