This ruined what was a pretty decent chapter, in my opinion. I stopped watching DBZ years ago. Goes to show that Kishi has little to no creativity left. Next thing you know, Sasuke'll be going Super Saiyan.

Does anyone else think the first Mist ninja we see looks like Haku?

 

Sasuke doesn't need to copy Naruto. He's already got his super special Itachi eyes.

 

Honestly I was hoping that we'd learn that Madara was the Shodai Mizukage or something and just came back to fuck with everyone by mind-controlling the jinchuuriki.

I'm a bit tired of the "hi, I'm the super-powerful bad guy that's been hiding in the shadows doing nothing for the last 50 years" routine.

He lost quite a bit of credit when Minato spanked him across Konoha in my opinion, and he still hasn't really earned it back.

All he has left is his 'immortality', Sharingan and his intangibility. His only real weapon he has left is manipulation.

Exactly; everything we've seen so far indicated that Madara is not that dangerous in a one-on-one fight after his run-in with the First Hokage. Pretty much all he has going for him is his skill at turning people into his pawns, and being pretty hard to kill off. As for Madara's apparent lack of activity for the last fifty or so years, he almost certainly spent at least all the time after his fight with the 4th Hokage setting up Akatsuki, and his attempt at freeing the Kyuubi probably required some prep-work too.

Also, I now really have to wonder what's under Madara's mask. Kisame bit off his own tongue and snapped just to keep the guy reading his mind from finding that out, so it must be pretty important. I think it adds a lot more credence to the idea that Madara/Tobi might not actually be Madara Uchiha; otherwise, Kisame would not care so much about hiding his face.

 

Or ... he got sick of getting mind-raped by some Konoha punk and decided to handle it.

 

Possibly, but the timing seems just a bit too conspicuous to be coincidental. Why else would Kisame not do anything about the mind reading until right before Madara's face was going to be revealed?

 

I agree that the timing is suspicious, and there's obviously something very important about Madara's face; however, I don't see any reason to jump to the conclusion that Tobi is not actually Uchiha Madara. Everything about the guy is shrouded in mystery, yes, but I think it still (imo) points to the fact that Tobi is telling the truth: he's mega old, has mad skills, knows about Izanagi and perhaps used it to escape death against Hashirama resulting in only 1 eye, can control the tailed beasts, etc.

If he isn't Madara, then which Uchiha is he? I remember a theory awhile back postulating that Shisui is actually Tobi, but I think that's a bunch of nonsense and based only on a one line description (Shisui "the teleporter"). Until conclusive evidence is provided either way, I'm going to take him at his word that he is indeed Uchiha Madara.

 

It does bear mentioning that it's already been well established that Tobi/Madara is not a reliable source of information. He lies. A lot. Taking anything he says at face value might be a mistake.

The continually hidden face doesn't prove that he's not who he says he is. The fact that his face is deliberately being kept hidden does, however, make the Tobi is not Madara theory plausible, though there are certainly other explanations. Until there's conclusive evidence otherwise assuming that Tobi is who he says he is makes sense, especially since there are no real established alternatives, but I wouldn't be shocked if Tobi turns out to be lying again.

 

Two things about this chapter really stood out at me; Gai apparently went Supersaiyan, and according we're not the only ones who think Madara's plan is retarded.

 

What I found surprising was that Gai actually won and didn't die. Yet.

I dunno about Madara=Shusui though- I feel its something Itachi would have known, besides Danzo must have come upon his body to extract one of his eyes.

Fuck, there's so many one eye'd Uchiha-: Shisui's corpse, Obito's corpse, and Madara after presumably using Inzanagi that we might as well just wait before we end up finding out it's Madara's long thought dead brother or the Majin Juubi's consciousness in possession of a descendant while trying to regain its body and power. Uchiha having its eyes and chakra more sinister than the Kyuubi's could be more than coincidence.

Anywaayyyss... I enjoyed that chapter more than the last one though I think I'm going to have to read it again. I got that the afternoon Tiger was not a chakra based attack- merely massive air pressure caused by physical force and ignited by the heat in the air or whatever negating Kisame's attack's ability to absorb it..... but... whether or not it was chakra based fire...it was fire wasn't it? Against water right??? :-S

 

Because Gai gets pissed when his bitches move and decided to make it hurt just a little bit extra. It took him a while to get his head straight to realise the mind-rape.

same way everyone else knows how to do the Goukayuu (Great Fireball) jutsu. It's shared knowledge. I'd reckon that, in Konoha, the most basic jutsus are shared to better diversify ninja skills. Besides, isn't he a jounin? at least the Jounin class should have some T&I abilities, and the mind-rape jutsu seems pretty basic and effective to me.

He tried to show his face to Sasuke and even had the mask some way off when whatever Itachi did to Sasuke's eyes reacted to Madara's sharingan and set him on amaterasu-fire.

As to Madara's face being known, I'd say - of those currently alive in the manga - that Homura and Koharu both knew Madara, and its stated clearly in one of the chapters that Oonami (or whatever his name is), the Tsuhikage, actually fought against Madara. But in any case there's bound to have been pictures of him. So its definitely a possiblity that Kisame bit his tongue to force Aoba out at that moment to avoid the chance that Aoba might see/recognize something Madara wasn't willing to reveal yet.

But I think all the fuss about Madara's face/identity Kishi's manufacturing, is most likely so much hot air. He'll probably just look like a gnarled old version of his younger self.
