The kyuubi chakra that is constantly flowing through Naruto's bodu hinders him, it doesn't boost his chakra; a portion of his own chakra is always combating the foreign chakra (since the seal changed, this may have changed as well).

 

I dunno, the whole Kakashi Version thing always struck me as Kishi's way of telling us he was bluffing. I mean, really, the Sandaime could only create three during his battle with Orochimaru, and I seriously doubt that Kakashi had that much more chakra than him.

You forget that he made those three AFTER the pitched battle with Orochimaru (and two zombie!Hokages) right before he summoned the Death God and used a Genjutsu/Ninjutsu powerful enough to entrap even Oro in Darkness. I don't think he was exactly at top form.

 

No, I didn't forget it, I was just taking it as cancelling out with Kakashi's exhaustion after facing down with Zabuza. If you'll remember, Kakashi had only just recovered from the last fight between the two and was still not 100%. Just like the Sandaime.

 

Wasn't the Sandaime the one caught in the genjutsu? Anyway, Like I said I think Kakashi was bluffing and just made the academy clones and hoped they couldn't tell the difference between his and Naruto's.

 

Ebisu said it, I think. During the Chuunin exams. Or maybe it was Jiraiya...

 

Wasn't he talking about chakra control? I mean, they were working on the water walking technique at the time, so it would make sense...

 

And why would he waste chakra with creating more? One good area attack from Orochimaru would decimate dozens of clones. It's like that brief skirmich Naruto had with Samui(or someone from her team) after the Pain fight. He could summon hundred of clones, but choose to summon just enough to handle her.

 

Plus, a lot of his control problems there were due to Orochimaru screwing with the Fox's seal; once Jiraiya fixed the seal, Naruto didn't have a control problem anymore.

 

I'm pretty sure Naruto's control sucked already. Oro's seal just made it worse. I think that training with his control messed up like that simply improved his control more than the training required. After that water walking was easy for him.

Surprisingly awesome chapter, Itachi factor aside. The flashbacks to the massacre were of the not-retarded kind, they actually make sense.
All in all, a decent chapter, leading up to better things. Though I don't think the Sasuke/Itachi slash fans needed any more encouragement.

 

So guys I have to ask, I have never quite understood the sasuke hate in the general factor except for the whole unlimited power up thing.

The way I see it he is more like what a protagonist in a manga is usually like, someone slaughtered his entire clan, leaving him completely and totally alone and the only way he could retain his sanity was by obsessing about killing the person responsible, his brother. Notice how he didn't usually walk around complaining about how the village didn't protect him or about how the world is unfair.

Actually I always thought the reason why he didn't play nice with others was because he was afraid of getting too close to someone and one day be tempted into killing them for the sake of his obsession.

Next he finds his brother more or less finishes what he started and then learns that his brother slaughtered his entire family for the village and its leaders, come on anyone would be pissed of at that.

So where does the hate come from?

 

The fact that he is an unlikable asshole and a self centered prick.
That usually wouldn't be enough of a reason, since there are loads of those, but Kishimoto seems to have decided that Sasuke is his perfect man, and his masturbatory sessions to Sasuke have affected his work to an insane degree.

The Elders, Danzo and Hiruzen behind that table will create even more crappy council of Konoha shit.

Danzo threatning Sasuke to get Itachi to do it makes more sense than Itachi volunteering that I've seen done a lot.

I'm glad we actually have a scene with Fugaku which was decent, and not him being a dumbass most fics portray him as.

 

It's because Sasuke burned every bridge he had and turned into an entirely unlikeable little shit.

Look, I never felt that Sasuke was in the wrong for wanting revenge, but the fact is that nobody in Konoha ever had the intention of preventing him from killing Itachi. In fact Kakashi was willing to train him to do it, and Naruto and Sakura would have helped him as well. Itachi was a wanted criminal with a death sentence hanging over him. Konoha wanted him gone.

The reason why Sasuke is such a little douche is that in spite of all the support he was getting in order to achieve the strength he'd need to kill Itachi, he got jealous and angry and betrayed all those people who wanted to see him succeed and would have gladly helped him.

Sasuke betrayed his allies and defected to the side that wanted all of Konoha dead simply because he thought it was the quick ticket to gaining power for his petty vengeance.

Oh, and he did complain about life being unfair - all the fucking time.

 

When you think about it, his actions and desires are perfectly reasonable (if a little insane) considering everything that happened in his life. It's just like Republic21 said - the problem is how Kishi portraits Sasuke as a person.

Also, I can't believe I'm saying this, but Madara quickly needs some hax technique to save him from disappearing.

And I agree that Fugaku's behavior was very nice change from his fandom character.

 

Despite the fact that I generally despise the entire Uchiha storyline, and the crazy Uchiha fanboyism from Kishi himself... Itachi proves once again that he's quite possibly the most awesome, intriguing and admirable character of the series.

I can certainly think of no character who I like more from the entire series. And I doubt anything before The End will change that.

On another note: I thought the artwork and delivery of the chapter were better handled than the most of the last third of the manga. Kishi shows a little flash of what was my initial reason for reading Naruto. His ability to emotionally invest the reader into the stories and lives of the characters, to make them care. If only he'd focused more on that aspect and style I think Naruto could have fulfilled it's potential better.

Well he left after being mind-raped, again. Seeing the clan murdered again obviously drove home his goal, and he was overcome with frustration at his lack of skills compared to Itachi, and he basically had Orochimaru offering him power where he didn't care for the consequences, it was fairly realistic if not explained very well.

I agree, Itachi is the fucking boss.
