Even if Kishi's the one writing it, it's probably best to assume it's not canon unless he says otherwise.

This is just a prologue to the movie. I don't think any of the movies are considered cannon, so I doubt this is.

When exactly does the movie come out? And how long does it usually take for something like this to be subbed? It really feels like fanfiction, but that actually makes this the first Naruto movie I'm interested in.

Agreed. Movie's already out, usually takes 6+ months before they get subbed.

It's happening before Naruto travels to meet Bee, I think. And that means the Akatsuki are just some trick and not the real deal.

Isn't it the day before he leaves for Suna? That's why his and Sakura's vacation is almost over. I don't really see why part of the Akatsuki wouldn't be real. What's the use?

Could be the start of the illusion. The Akatsuki are all alive in the Altverse.

    This.

Finally an interesting chapter, though I still really want to know who Tobi is. And I do hope they find a way to land a hit on Tobi without having to resort to Kakashi's Sharingan.

Is this the first fight recently where teamwork is actually the key focus? This fight is already more interesting than the Naruto v Pain or Sasuke v ... Anyone fights.

There's been a few: Team Hawk vs Kirabi, Kakashi & Akimichi vs Pein, Naruto & Kirabi vs Jinchuuriki, Naruto & Kirabi vs Itachi & Nagato.

Though I'd say this is the one that really pushes the teamwork angle.

this is kind of the first chapter since using izanagi against konan that tobi is explicitely using uchiha jutsu, isn´t it? the barrier plus referencing his sharingan. for a while i thought he just went with the uchiha angle for that madara charade. but this makes me question his connection to that clan again.

I still don't see why Tobi's having this battle now. Why can't he just take the Gezou and teleport away till it's done and he's ready to fight at max power?

That kunai was like 5 feet away from Tobi and heading in the opposite direction. How did it hit him?

I've never seen the Eight Tails called Kirabi before. it's always been Hachibi, what am I missing here?

Kirabi is the hosts actual name. Sometimes spelled Killer Bee and then shortened to Bee. Hachibi is the demon.

Pretty much. When it comes to names like Killer Bee, Might Guy, A and C, I much prefer to use their Japanese names (or whatever the correct term would be).

for that matter, why did the rasengan do that little damage to him? we saw the 4th rasengan hitting him much harder, didn´t we? and i don´t think narutos rasengan would be inherently weaker than his fathers. especially not in KCM.

i don´t like this general trend in shounen manga of depowering previously strong attacks. the rasengan was introduced as one of the most powerful techniques ever and now even gais nunchuks are hitting as hard?

Perhaps because Tobi decided that getting his arm ripped of sucks so he toughened up during the last 16 years. And I don't think the Rasengan's been depowered e.g. Naruto managed to wipe out most of the Six Paths with it. Most of the time, he doesn't even manage to hit his opponent's with it because they know how fucking dangerous it is.

We also haven't seen exactly how this Kamui business works yet so it's too soon to make those sort of judgements.

Technically we're never told his name.

"B" is the code designation given to him by the Third Raikage and A, as A's partner.

Dunno where the "Killer" came from, but it sounds like a nickname.

Killer was the nickname the Minato gave Bee.

Nah, Bee calls himself Killer in that scene before Minato ever says it. Maybe Minato made it into an actual "thing" where before he just called himself Killer to sound cool?

But Bee was pretty infamous even as a kid, so I don't know.
