Because abilities and protocols change. I doubt that there was enough of an infrastructure during Hashirama's time, especially during his reign, to be capable of what the villages later could. We don't even know if his brother had developed his Edo Tensei yet by the time he died.

That doesn't really explain however when they do become available you don;t revisit the option except the fact that having an arsenal or even a select few with Hashirama's skills would also unsurprising be beneficial for Konoha.

 

Try again. We've been treated to plenty of flashbacks of the Uchiha Clan and the taboo of transplanting eyes from brother to another. Since it was an actual dilemma and was a thing Madara actually did without dying or just blinding himself, we can assume they had the technology to surgically transplant at the very least doujutsu (which seem to be the only bloodlimits worth talking about) safely. It wasn't witchdoctors and bloodletting back then.

And Kakashi didn't know about the Edo Tensei, nor do generic Kiri hunter nin (I assume) when he/they suggest destroying the body. Note that Zabuza doesn't even have a bloodlimit and it's still implied the body should be destroyed. From this, one can assume that things other than bloodlimits, such as training techniques or even ninjutsu can be divined from shinobi corpses. Since we could see from the flashbacks to the Battle at the Valley of the End between Hashirama and Madara that it's not like ninja didn't have strong techniques (and if Madara is anything to go by, they were way fucking stronger), it stands to reason that there would be even more of an impetus to destroy bodies, being as it is that shinobi were all scattered clans back then and that the loss or development of even one technique might spell victory or annihilation for your clan (as was the case with Hashirama's wood element and Madara's Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan).

Want to start naming the zombies who we know were recovered and should have been destroyed by their villages? We can start with Dan and Nawaki, and continue on to at least one of the Seven Swordsman, since Choujirou has his sword, Suikazan Fuguki, since he was the original Samehada wielder and it had to make it's way into Kisame's hands somehow, Chiyo-baa, who died surrounded by literally ALL OF SUNA...

I can't be fucked, but there are definitely a few more. Furthermore, are we really saying that every kage who showed up a zombie had their body captured and destroyed, AND that said captured body was somewhere Kabuto or Orochimaru could reach? That's long odds, I think.

tl;dr. Everyone but Orochimaru is an idiot, and he is too. If he didn't decide to hold all his cards until his stupid grudge match with Sarutobi and hadn't gotten his strongest suit (ninjutsu) nerfed by the literal GOD OF DEATH (the god of death, mind you, that COULDN'T EVEN KILL HIM COMPLETELY) he should have rolled on the entire ninja world. His immortal Hokage (and other Kage zombies, as I refuse to believe Kabuto could get ahold of mysteriously undestroyed DNA that a sannin who can STEAL FACES and sneak inside the strongest village in the Elemental Countries can't) zombies and dime-a-dozen Cursed Seal knuckledraggers who can solo multiple Jounin (see Genma, face-wreckage) would have wrecked Konoha from the get-go while he sipped pina coladas a hundred miles away.

 

As part of my ongoing attempt to achieve some level of rationality in this clusterfuck (naive, I know), I've come up with a theory of how the Shodai's cells got fucking EVERYWHERE.

After he died, a bit of him was taken. Maybe a lock of hair of something, depends on how much DNA is needed. The DNA was then transplanted into the giant statue thing that the Zetsus are coming from. The DNA replicated, creating far more than was before. At some point later, Orochimaru is given/finds the DNA and begins experimentation. He either gives the experimentation data from his success as Yamato (somehow, as he was surprised that he survived) as part of joining proto-Akatsuki. That data was then given to the various users as they are: Danzo through his alliance with Nagato (from Madara), Madara from the statue itself (probably the originator), Tobi as part of having a half-Zetsu body, and the Zetsu clones are spawned from the statue.

Its full of holes and inconsistencies due to the timeline, but it makes a fuckton more sense than what's going on right now.

 

I'm pretty sure at this point that Orochimaru somehow stumbled onto what Madara was up to along the way. It's the only reason I can think of that would explain his current relevance to the plot. It might also explain partially how his obsession with genetic experimentation got started.

I'm not saying that Orochimaru is in cahoots with him or even knew what the plan was, but I think he knows something...

 

Is it ever established that all ninja bodies were destroyed or just those of missing ninja?

Danzo was in league with Hanzou not Nagato.

 

Common sense would dictate everyone. But Naruto and common sense don't really seem to mix on a lot of these sorts of things. On a somewhat related note, the bounties that Kakuzu collects are they from the home villages or rival ones that want the secrets in the bodies?

 

It's believable Madara has Hashirama's DNA as he fought with him at the valley at the end and maybe before that during the Clan Wars. But this doesn't account for how Orochimaru got it though. Also the Shinobi which Kabuto resurrected may have died in battle against enemy shinobi villages and subsequently been recovered by those villages who probably dissected it to discover its secrets allowing their DNA to be retrieved by Orochimaru/Kabuto, but it's unlikely that's the case for so many high-level shinobi.

 

I never thought I'd say this put I honestly don't care what's happening with Naruto at the moment.
I'm much more interested in what's going on with Sasuke and Orochimaru, I know it's most likely that I'll just be disappointed with another retarded ass plot twist. But I remember a time when Orochimaru was one badass mother.
Besides wasn't he going to show Sasuke the secret of the Uchiha massacre, or the leafs villages secrets or something of that nature. That has the potential to be so much more interesting then reading about how Obito decided "You know what I'm sick of being optimistic and happy, fuck that noise Imma gonna cast a big bad genjutsu on the moon that'll take away free will."

 

I think that the jutsu that Sugetsu found is a modified Edo-Tensei that can resurrect from the Death Gods belly. Think about it, Orochimaru couldn't use jutsu, it makes sense that he will invent a technique that will get his arms back from the Death Gods belly.

Also, they are going to speak with the man that knows everything, which should be Sarutobi (aka The Professor). So I guess that Sasuke will revive The First who will wipe the floor with Madara , probably Minato so we will have a Minato vs Naruto fight. And Sarutobi needs some fighting scenes `cause the Oro- Sarutobi fight was really weak compared to the Shippuden fights.

 

Tbf, Naruto and company aren't doing anything right now. Last I checked this is purely Obito remembering past events rather than him telling a story like Nagato did.

 

That seems somewhat unlikely to me, since supposedly Sasuke&Orochimaru are going to meet people who know something/everything.

The only hokage to know anything about the whole massacre thing was Sandaime, and Itachi already revealed his entire role in that genjutsu of his. I admit I do find the idea of Orochimarus disembodied soul arms crawling around to be pretty funny though. Maybe the arms have entered into an alliance with the 50% Kyuubi Minato took with him and the real end villain will actually be Kyuubarmsomaru. Naruto and Orochimaru will then be forced to unite to get back the evil parts of themselves, Orochimaru his rebellious hands that have turned against him and Naruto&Kyuubi the still-evil-twin!Kyuubi.

Well, it was from Obito's perspective so there can't be any specifics on Rin's death. When Kakashi's flashback comes around, we'll probably see the story with Rin.

In any case, insofar as logic and consistency go in Naruto (which is not very far) this was tied up nicely, I think.

I personally don't see why Madara should be stopped. I fail to see how what he wants is evil, or for that matter, bad in any form. I'm actually rooting for him.
