Interesting chapter. I'm glad we're seeing some progression with the Sasuke/Sakura plot. It'll definitely be interesting to see how they all match up.

But I have to admit, I very much dislike betrayal stories where a main character turns out to have been a spy or some such. I guess it's just a personal thing. But I really do hope that Anko hasn't been a spy. That would just be a rather strong turn off.

Nevertheless, it was an interesting chapter.

Hmm. I'm not sure why, but given Geor's past of killing off characters indiscriminately, me thinks that Ino's gonna get killed/coma'd in this fight.

Don't ask me why, gut feeling.

And yeah I agree, not a fan of Anko being a spy either.

    This.

You've already written several hundred thousand words up to this point, and for you to turn Anko traitor just like that is irritating. To use Liath's words, it is a personal turn off, she was one of the best characters and for that all to have been a lie created by Orochimaru is disappointing to say the least.

It was a pretty oshi- moment. I liked it, but rather than the power of love, I think Naruto is going to bring her back with the 'power of fist'. Methinks the Anko we've seen was and maybe still is genuine in her feelings for Konoha/Naruto, but this older Anko that Orochimaru locked away is back and in control. It will be interesting to see her interact with Naruto and Ino.

I liked this development and wholeheartedly support it. In fact, I feel Anko's about face potentially will be one of the greatest plot developments in this AU-verse.

Far from being a shot from left field, I think this was well finessed and one Geor likely thought about a LONG time ago. From the very first chapters of the series, I thought something was off about Anko. On the surface, she appeared to be your regular mistreated/misunderstood former Orochimaru apprentice. No surprise there, but her closeness with the traitor or her previous "misdeeds" were never, ever conveniently "explained away," which in retrospect is huge. Sometimes, it's not about what's there but rather what's not there. The death of Kurenai's brother for instance or the killing of the Hyuugas etc. were all mentioned but never uncovered. All we could infer was that Anko was presumably cleared of egregious wrongdoing and seemed to have won the sympathy of Sarutobi. Our automatic impression as readers was that, "oh of course Anko was innocent, her accusers were idiots, no duh" but that certainly didn't have to be and, indeed, wasn't the case.

Obviously, there's personal preferences, which no one can really do anything about. It might even be good that there's such a strong reaction. (You should be happy about it, Geor, :p because if there wasn't one, that means your Anko wasn't compelling enough for your readers to care about) I personally am very anxious about Anko's fate. I also like her and Geor obviously isn't one to pull out Disney deaths or similar stunts so there's a very real chance that this won't end well.

That said, ch. 23 unleashed the potential for some extraordinary story telling. On the one hand, there's Anko's past and her obvious and quite possibly genuine devotion to her former teacher/master and on the other is her real affection to Naruto. The complexity, the messiness, the seeming contradiction in loyalties is just begging to be explored.

None at all, but I assume we have an understanding that you'll be force fed liquified metal if this doesn't turn out satisfactorily.

I am of no opinion towards this latest development. I am disappointed that the last possible make or break revelation (Naruto/Karin relationship) hadn't really been developed, so I'll wait to see if Anko even plays a big role in the next few chapters.

Frankly after 200,000 + words from all of the fics Geor has written, I still don't get the NarutoIno pairing. Don't get me wrong, they would probably go good together but she is still a shallow bitch: "Sai, I love you" and "Chouji, loose weight fatass."

Meh, Shinobi Wars Ino isn't so bad. I personally am still holding out for a last minute Naruto/Yugito pairing, but I know I'm never gonna get it so I'll just stick to Eleven for my Yugito needs.

Definately a 5/5! In addition to rating this story as a 5/5, I also rated the thread for it's prequel and the time skip story as 5/5. In my opinion all are equally good, though there isn't very much of the time skip story to judge as of yet.

This increases the number of really good Naruto stories I've read to three (if you count these 3 as 1), and the other two involved time travel in some way so this is a welcome change.

There were small things here and there that irked me or got on my nerves a bit, but they were fleeting and didn't do much to lessen my enjoyment of the story.

Well plotted, well written, engaging, interesting... all in all it's really good stuff. I look forward to updates.

As for the Anko development in the latest chapter, well, I don't have an issue with it because of how it was done. I wouldn't buy Anko having "faked it" for all these years, because we've been in her head enough times to know that's not true. As it is though an advanced Jutsu performed by Orochimaru is involved so anything is possible. I'd like to think that the feelings she developed in the past several years would outshine those she just regained, especially considering the apparent depth of her feelings for Naruto, but I guess we'll find out soon enough.

I can't say there's anything plot or character wise in this story that I didn't like. I'd have slightly preferred if Naruto was a bit more genuine instead of always "pretending" but that's part of the joy of the AU, and it works well. Just like I sort of the original Gaara who cared about more people than Temari -- but then I can't deny that when she died I couldn't wait to read about what kinds of hell he was about to unleash.

I think that Ino/Naruto is working pretty well in this story. There isn't too much romance, the feelings they have are believable and developed at a reasonable rate, and Ino was written brilliantly in all 3 stories to make her an engaging character.

So yeah, if you like Naruto and haven't read this series, get to it. The first few chapters of the first story (this thread is for the sequel) start out just like canon though, so give it at least until Naruto is assigned to a sensei before you stop because of the similarities.
