Everyone here obviously hates when people necro a thread, and for good reason. But I also see people get alot of shit for starting a new thread, when there's already one on the same topic, even though the old one has been dead for a while.

Would people rather have someone necro? Or just start a new thread? Cause I'm relatively sure whoever does it will get proverbially bitch slapped if they do either one.

Rules for necro include that it isn't a necro if you have something relevant to contribute.

The thread itself should of course still be relevant as well, i.e. not about something that happened five years ago.

If you're ever unsure whether to necro an old thread or start a new duplicate one, just send a PM to someone on staff. That way you can do whichever they suggest (most likely necro) and then when you do post, you can mention you cleared it with whoever on staff.

No one will rip you a new one then.

Don't imo; so we can weed out the try-hards here. :)
