Shit looks really epic. But like previous movies, I bet the scenes we caught a glimpse of are by far the best in it, so when we all get to the theatres we'll find that there's nothing good to it except for what we already saw in the trailers...

And I'm curious, who is the loon that thinks he's gonna stop the Hogwarts Express with his hand? I don't recall anything like that in DH, but I read it so long ago...

I always end up liking the trailers much more than the movies. I have not properly seen a single Harry Potter movie since Goblet of Fire. The new Dumbledore who came in to replace the previous one detracted me from the entire movie. My most annoying scene remains the scene where he manhandles Harry after his name comes out of the Goblet.

The trailer was pretty cool. I do wonder who the guy was on the rail-line of the Hogwarts train. Let's see how the movie turns out to be.

I watch the movies for the dramatic inspiration of well-made effects scenes. The actors barely make it plausible. The less Dan says, the more I see him as Harry. Same can be said of most of the kids- the only one that lends more to his character than is written is Rupert Grint, and that may be because Canon-Ron is easy to improve upon.

As for the bloke on the tracks in the preview- isn't that Count Dooku from the Star Wars prequels? Since he's not bothering with a wand to pull off his train-stopping trick, I'm seeing it as Force-pushing.

I said it in the last trailer thread. Every trailer for the movies I thought was awesome, shitting my pants at each one.

I got the same reaction for this one as I did the last one. I was sorely disappointed when I watched the sixth movie, despite the trailer, because of the conflicting tones. It had maybe three really good moments, and I fear the same will be said for this one.

So I'm trying not to get my hopes up.

That would be nice, however it looks like it's the same old "magical tug of war" they had in GoF and then Dumbledore had with Voldemort in OotP.

It looks good from the trailer, but as we all know, an epic trailer can be made from a god-awful movie.

Voldemort sounds like has has a cold, who the hell stops the Hogwarts Express and since when did Voldemort try & crush Harry's jaw, exchanging dialogue & cliche'd lines?

Eh, I'm not getting my hopes up.

QFT. Music and a few well-chosen pieces of dialogue make a trailer.

    Proof? Here you go.

Yup. It can be tough to tell from trailers because of the way they mix things up, but it seems that they've merely changed the original book's final spell exchange into something quite similar to Priori Incantatem. It's sort of a no-brainer choice to add length to the moment, but I hope they aren't just doing that. Meh, guess I shouldn't try to judge it too much until I see the full sequence...

Given how empty the place is, and how it's not in the books, I suspect it's a kind of "this isn't actually happening, it's a mindscape representation of a battle of wills which takes place in an instant in reality".

Ahh - yes, that could be it. Such a scene might include some of the other bits from the trailer, too. Not sure how I feel about that - depends on how well they do it.

I won't lie, that bit where the music kicks in and he goes AVADA KED- is pretty damn epic.

I'm excited, even if some of the previous ones were disappointing. It's "the motion picture event of a generation," after all.
But why is everything in 3D now? D: Especially Imax, it results in nausea and almost-vomiting.

LOL at the youtube vid above :)

I have such high hopes for this film. Though the trailer looks like it's going to be just as amazing as it is in my head.

Favorite part is probably going to be the war scene, that looks brilliant.

Don't. Every time someone had high hopes for the last three movies, they were disappointed. I go in expecting crap and because of that I get to enjoy it.
