Okay, so the Lego Christmas catalogue contains Star Wars sets from Force Awakens. From the set descriptions and names of mini-figures it's possible to work out some mild spoilers:

The villain organisation, which uses Stormtroopers so is presumably the/a remnant of the Empire, seems to be called the First Order. One set refers to them as First Order Special Forces, which might mean they were the Special Forces of the Empire.

The good guys are referred to as The Resistance, not the Rebel Alliance.

There also seems to be some involvement of organised crime. There's a mini-figure called "Kanjiklub gang member" and another called "Unkar's Thug". I suspect these are Tatooine based because they're in desert backgrounds.

 

Definitely spoilers, maybe not major. If you've seen the trailer and or read Aftermath.

Most likely the planet Jakku. It's another desert planet where the main character Rey ("the speeder girl" in the trailer) lives and works as a scavenger. There was a big battle on Jakku soon after RotJ. That's where all the crashed and dead Imperial vessels came from in the trailer. It's definitely not Tatooine, although they will be using the planet at some point in Episode VII. I think Jakku was introduced in the recent novel Aftermath. Wedge crashes there or shot down or something... I haven't read it.

 

None of that is particularly new information. Was all mostly revealed in between the Anaheim celebration convention and Force Friday.

I really hope that the First Order is an evolution of the 501st battalion. Would be a nice little nod to fans.

 

I must say that I'm quite impressed with how little they revealed up to this point. I don't mean the plot because with J.J. Abrams that was given, but unlike pretty much every other blockbuster, they didn't show much of big action scenes we probably can expect from the movie. If it doesn't change with the release of the last major trailer they plan to show, people may actually have a chance to be surprised and amazed by things the studio didn't repeatedly teased. Basically a polar opposite of what Disney recently did with Avengers 2.

 

Official poster has been released. Two questions then.

1) Where's Luke? We haven't seen anything of him yet, really.
2) What's that orb? Space station? Super weapon?

 

1) Not true. We totally saw his hand in one of the trailers.
2) Not sure how much of it was confirmed, but the First Order is suppose to have a new super weapon. It's probably this.

 

From most of the tidbits we've gotten so far, it seems like finding Luke for whatever reason is one of the movie's major plot points. They're probably doing everything they can to prevent spoilers on that front, so no Luke on the poster.

The thing that interests me most about that poster is that it portrays Rey, not Finn, as the 'central' character.

 

I think Luke will be a major plot point not only for most of the movie, but for the trilogy itself. They'll try to find him throughout the movie up until the last fourth of it. He probably will have more involvement on the later films. It's just a theory tho.

 

Ah, hadn't heard that about Luke. Fair douze.

 

1) Mark Hamill is listed in the cast, so...
2) Imperial Pokeball, obviously. Though it kind of looks like a thermal detonator with an ion engine attached.

Making yet another Death Star doesn't bode well for an original script. That's it, it's a giant self-propelled thermal detonator. Actually, I think I'd like that over another Death Star.

Edit: Hold on... where's Harry Potter? WTF?

 

It could be JJ's take on a Star Forge. That'd be enough to make the First Order a major threat and give enough of a nod to the old canon to assuage the fanboys.

 

The new trailer is supposed to be released tomorrow.
