The Force Awakens is a pretty good title and I have no reason to complain about it.

Plinkett's voice is so monotone and sleep-inducing that I always quit watching half-way and I've tried watching these reviews for years.

The Force Awakens is almost like 'The Force Unleashed'...

    Sigh, I can dream.

Honestly, I was kinda hoping Force related business would be relegated to the background to give them time to rebuild/ or time for new enemies to properly strengthen.

I really hope this doesn't mean we're going to have every main character be a force user again.

......The main characters of the original and prequel weren't all force users. Two of them weren't even living beings. o_O

What hold him back from restoring the whole force-sensitives detection and recruiting thing?

Less than a minute and a half of footage and I'm grinning like a ten year old. Does that say more about me or the trailer?

That lightsabre is all kinds of ridiculous, but I want it anyway. And the x-wings! The Falcon!

WTF IS THAT STUPID FUCKING LIGHTSABER HOLY SHIT?

Beyond that, I'm intrigued and happy. But seriously, what the hell is up with the damn saber?

I think it looks cool. The trailer and the lightsaber, I mean.

    Dat Falcon.

It made me think they were getting Saber ideas from old fan-made Youtube vids. I loved those vids but the saber variants always bugged me. Mainly because a good number of them made no sense. Same with this one. Why have
a saber crossguard that's likely to slice your hand off?

Meh. If the Force allows one to avoid slicing themselves off when using a sword that cuts anything and only the handle has any weight whatsoever, it won't fail when faced with a crossguard.

That's not to say it's not stupid.

I think the real problem with it, functionally speaking, is that the cross guard isn't entirely laser. Rather you've got little extensions of the handle which sprout little bits of laser.

So if the cross guard is used for what cross guards are for - preventing a blade from sliding down to cut your hand - the enemy lightsaber will just cut through the handle without ever contacting the laser cross guard.

Why can't we agree that it comes down to what 99% of all lightsaber customizations boil down to?

    Style.

Some people were suggesting that the metal parts are purely for guarding the wielders hand, and the smaller lasers extend down into the hilt.

So an enemy saber could cut the metal but then would hit the laser inside and stop.

    Edit:
Couldn't that cortosis-weave metal also be used for the guards?

Yeah, but I doubt they're going to go into detail to explain it like that in the movie.

I don't know much about sword fighting, but if the guy's fighting style gets him into more saber locks, then the crossguard might be there to catch the blade and let him shove the other around easier.

Saber blades do actually have weight. The crystals and everything inside give the beam a heftier feel. It can be adjusted to the user's preference.

How did I totally miss Bill Weasley (Domhnall Gleeson) being in SW VII? Now we know how Harry makes it into the SW-verse.

Whether one can explain it or not, how sad is it that the worst part of a Star Wars trailer was the lightsaber?

We had guard shoto(lightsaber tonfa) already, so the cross-guard isn't so radical.
It could've been worse; there are, after all, lightwhips.

The one thing that hit me was how slender the beam was. Skinny.
