Same, but at the same time, I can't help but be glad that Chewie isn't going to meet the same end he did before.

If you have a "Force Awakens" erection lasting longer than four hours, watch "The Phantom Menance" trailer right away.

In all seriousness, damn it looks good. All we need now is a proper trailer.

Does it make me a true Star Wars geek or just overly pedantic that my first thought upon seeing the Star Destroyer was that it couldn't have fallen from orbit because that shit would have disintegrated under the force of impact?

Also, my boner is so hard it could melt steel beams right now.

Rather the latter, since Star Destroyers could just as well fly (and subsequently get destroyed) inside the atmosphere.

Am I the only one that the trailer didn't make more excited? I'm still worried this new Star Wars will be more action than anything else, losing a lot of plot and meaning in the process. Like the new Star Trek reboot series by the same Abrams dude.

Man, if this flick is anywhere near as fun as the 2009 Star Trek, I'll be doing cartwheels.

Still deciding on whether I should go full media blackout for this.

I've not watched the trailer yet, but this talk of star destroyers crashed from orbit and the title of the movie has me dreaming of the best scene in TFU games (possibly entire SW universe for me...)

My cynical side tells me it'll never be as good as the originals and that they'll fuck it up somehow. Then again, I had the biggest grin when I saw Harrison Ford teaming up with Chewie again so at least I have some hope for the reboot, even if it is just a fool's hope.

Look, I'm a huge Star Wars fan, but come on. It won't be very hard to make a better movie than the original trilogy. Your cynical side should tell you that no matter what they spawned, the original movies were in actuality pretty terrible.

The originals weren't masterpieces of cinema... but "terrible"?

No. No they weren't. Not even by modern standards.

Kind of pointless to argue this issue. I respect the fantastic universe that he created, I thought they were a little boring though.

I almost got into a fight with my cousin for saying that, lol.

The original trilogy was terrible? That's a pretty bold claim to make against a series that's so beloved and critically acclaimed. Then again, anyone is allowed to have a taste in movies. Though reading your take on then, are you a fan or aren't you a fan of the universe, because this makes it seem like you don't particularly like it... unless you favour the prequels, which I guess some people do.

Regarding nostalgia, I don't really see how I could have nostalgia for something that I didn't really watch before the prequels kicked in, which I more or less despise, though I did like the battles and pretty special effects. Anyway, if you wanna talk about nostalgia, the LotR movies are where it's at for me.

I disagree with, well, all of this. Literally all of it. Beloved, certainly. Critically acclaimed? Not that I've seen. Most critics I've read agree that for all its influence and innovation, several aspects of it were, frankly, terrible. Star Wars essentially birthed sci-fi as we know it. Yes, it had some powerful moments. Yes, Harrison Ford gave a recital. Regardless, I still cringe at the terrible, stilted dialogue and equally terrible acting. I try to forget all the plot holes. I try to forget that the first and second movie were essentially forgettable. And for a movie that old, for which its quite unfair to judge its special effects, the acting, the plot and the dialogue/characters are all we can judge by. In the various categories that movies are rated in, the originals don't rate that high at all.

It's absolutely possible to have nostalgia, even if you saw the prequels first. For Star Wars fans, even if we're not old enough to have seen them in chronological order, that mindset of 'original -goooood, prequel-baaaad' has been hammered into us since the beginning.

Most of my life has been spent fanboy-ing over Star Wars in one form or another, so don't label me as a hater. I'm just seeing the originals as they are. Mediocre movies at best that nevertheless spun a powerful tale and actually, realistically managed to change the world.

We can disagree until our fingers are broken, but it won't really help any.

Your argument just became invalid, Rep. Search your feelings. You know it to be true.

Anyway. This tangented quickly. NEW STAR WARS, MOTHERFUCKERS.

    He's just another moronic contrarian.

I've heard a lot of rumors, but I'm not sure what's true and what isn't. I do know that the description of what this trailer would feature was actually somewhat accurate though. Still, you know, don't trust every rumor obviously.
