Who is older Ancient Mai or the Gatekeeper?

I get the feeling the Gatekeeper will play a much larger part in the future and that he is quite possible more powerful than the Merlin. Why else would the Merlin respect him as he does.

Someone should make a Harry Dresden / Full Metal Alchemist Crossover.

 

Yeah there is some pretty interesting information on there. It says it is looking for groups to sign up for player testing of the game. Do you think there could be a general DLP group or am I misinterpreting what they are asking for?

 

I thought that, too. With The Gate and all, it would fit with the end of the anime or on some occasions in the manga. Could be fun.

 

I don't see why we couldn't ask... We might even stand a chance since we have a dresden section.

But I think they were talking about random groups. Like with Mmorpg beta testing. Not Everyone will get a chance who applies.

Fullmetal Alchemist does have a resemblance to the Dresden Files, not in plot, but in style. Humour, but still serious, exspecelly the manga.
Manga or anime based?

I've got some ideas for a possible plot:

1)(Manga or anime based)
Right after the failed human transmutation of Trica Elric. Edward (and maybe Alphonse, if we wouldn't want him we can let him die) is sent through the gate and winds up in the Dresden-verse.


Just some ideas
He can still do alchemy (the Nevernever would be an exception, physical and material law doesn't work there and it would be very hard to work with the stuff there etc. not impossible, but dangerous and difficult),
but is emotionally a wreck.
(If he loses his left leg below the knee is up to discussion).
Failed to get his mother back, maybe lost Al, lost Winry, Pinaco, is in a new and strange world etc. The Gatekeeper of course noticed the disturbance at the Gate/s and comes to investigate. Normally he would kill the intruders (but what kind of people do land there?
Mostly shadowy figures who thrive for power and/or knowledge and no children. Mad with all the knowledge of the Gate...) but instead takes Edward with him to (maybe a Soulgaze) and brings him somewhere....

he could end up with Harry as his new guardian and they teach each other magic btw. alchemy. Very deep character development, Ed is an orphan like Harry, but he doesn't take it very well (he never did in canon, instead he got all opsessed with getting his brother's body back) and Harry helps him...the timeframe can be everything from Storm Front to Small Favor or before Storm Front, Ed can be a help and at the same time a weakness, he makes a good target as a hostage and is new to everything, plot is enough there...

he could end up with McCoy and Harry(shortly after Harry's trial) on the Ranch there...

he could land in the Nevernever in the faery part. He doesn't know the rules there and could get sucked into faery business...

etc.

2) (Manga based)

Edward, Lin and Envy land in the Dresden-verse after they escaped Gluttony's stomage...


3) Maybe Harry could get in the FMA-verse...magic does work if one beliefs strongly enough that it will work etc.

 

Wait, wait, wait... Dresden MMORPG? You're serious right? Where do I sign up?

EDIT: Never mind, completely misread Quazi's statement. Though getting a DLP group together for the Dresden RPG would be awesome.

For the FMA crossover, there would be a slight problem if we followed the anime (the only one that I am really familiar with, never got that far in the manga).

According to FMA, the Gate leads between Shambala (I think I spelt this wrong), our world, and Ed's world. So, if we follow the train of thought that the Outsiders are beings from beyond the gate, that would make Ed and Outsider.

And as far as we know in the Dresden Files (going only by what we are told about He Who Walks Behind), Outsiders leave scars on magicians, are somewhat monstrous, and consider mortal magic to be dust when used against them.

That would make Ed way to powerful for his short little head. *Jumps over the poster child for a Napolean Complex*

 

Well its Fanfiction for a reason. Your supposed to make up a story, including bullshitting your way to justify random events.

Outsiders would be Outside the Gates, both the ones in our world and Ed's. Which would make them the little funky ink blot guys.

 

The Outside is described as big nothingness....
so, when the Gate appears, it appears in some kind of void, so maybe the Outside is just in between these two worlds and you have to cross it to get to the other world and the Gate appears only if someone from one of both sides is crossing over.

 

That makes sense. Would explain the freaky kids who eat your arm...*shudder*

 

Yes and why most people don't survive human transmutation...maybe you need the talent to do magic to survive or it at least gives you a better chance.
OR in the FMA-Verse magical talent doesn'T normally exist, but because of what Hohenheim did (he is special, maybe he absorbed a part of an Outsider or whatever) the Elrics are the only ones who have a chance to cross over and that is why they (or only Edward and Al as the price for this) were absorbed into the Gate and thrown trough the world of the Outsiders and into the Dresden-verse.
Maybe even accidently free an Outsider and wreak havoc...who knows?

Okay know its time to decide which sword is it? Is that Morgan's sword? Is it Harry's original sword? Is it Micheal's sword? Its not Shiro's because it doesnt look to much like a katana to me.
