That's true, but on the other hand, the market for gamers who want to play a farm sim or have their pokemon evolve further ain't exactly going to carry the system now is it? Maybe the gay looking elf could crank out a cell shaded goofy looking game or three to help boost sales.

Face it, 16-25 is the demographic that makes these consoles live, and the WII ain't going to see a majority of those types flock from the more mature themed, censor free games on other consoles to come play with cartoony graphics if the WII is anything like Nintendo's past consoles have been.

I'm not saying Nintendo has to have tits and swearing to make it's game sell, but after the games I've seen for the GC, they've got to at least stop making games that look like they were done for ADD children if they want to say doing what they're doing.

As for the handhelds, Nintendo's only done well in there due to zero competition. When the PSP's price drops, and more games come out, that POS that is the DS is going to see a nasty drop in sales. We've already had a thread about this before though, so I'll leave it there.

 

Midknight, have you heard about the wait that was there at E3 to play the Wii? There was a 190 minute wait to play ONE Wii game, ONE. And E3 was populated by people in the demographic that you stated, so Nintendo isn't going anywhere if that line is anything to go by.

Reminds me of what Sega had planned for DreamCast back in the day. I swear to god, I wish Sega were still around... They were probably the most innovative when it came to idea's.

The problem was they attempted to make DreamCast to far ahead of it's time.

Umm, you mean SSB 3, because Brawl is the third one. And I woukd say Sony are the ones that steal ideas, because they stole the rumble idea from Nintendo I believe, and the motion stuff as well. They are facing patent issues with their rumble, probably one of the reasons why it is not in the new controller.

 

I seriously doubt that Nintendo will make losses, at least much. PS3 and XBOX 360 have all that Multimedia stuff, which increases the costs. But what do I need this for? I have a PC with I-Net connection. Nintendo makes a console just to play, not to hear music, with innovative and new ideas. This can serious backfire, but also be a huge upside. And as Link said: The queue for the Wii was about 3 to 4 hours. For the PS3 30 minutes. This at least is a hint, that Nintendo won't just crash down.

And honestly, the Paris Hilton sex tape was the number 1 seller for quite some time... did that make her sexy as hell and the tape awesome? Nada. It was all PR, which Nintendo got by switching the name to something stupid.

I had a GC, thought it was nice. Half a year later, guess what? It's was in my attic collecting dust. I can't even trade it in because I won't get even a quarter of what I paid for it in return. The same thing will happen to the Wii. It's a novelty console. Yeah it's innovative and whatever but I really don't want to wave my arms around looking like a retard with that goddamn stupid controller.

Bottom line is Wii will sell well for six months tops, before people don't care anymore.

 

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but look at the price points. ps3 is like 600 i hear, and wii is going to sell for 250.

I could buy or upgrade my computer and have the graphics of ps3 for that much cash. I'm an ocassional gamer, now I don't have time for games, but I might buy a wii if it dropped to 200 or below.

I agree about the N64 sucking donkey dick. I actually bought one of those peices of shit and regret it still. The games are directed to elementry school kids, with the exception of goldeneye 007, but the alternative was ps1, which wasn't much better, in my opinion.

Back in the day a system going over 200 bones was unacceptable, but now they think people are going to spend that much cash on a system that will probably be outdated like a computer is today. I think Nintendo has the right idea focusing on the gameplay and innovation, rather than how tight the graphics look. The only problem with the Wii is third party games arn't going to be made for the Wii. Those games will make it to pc, ps3, and xbox360. Ultimatley, I think the Wii will probably fail because of lack of games.

 

Uhh, the Wii has a lot of Third-party support, so I don't know where you got the idea that there was going to be a lack of games. Sega, Konami, Tecmo, Koei, and EA, to name a few. The Wii has a lot of third-party backing.

 

You just named companys that either traditionally make kiddie oriented games, or sports games.

I'm locking this as it's turning into fanboys versus honest opinions.
