You're missing out. The interludes are like standalone novellas embedded in the book, and each one is a pleasure to read on its own.

Whether they're critical to understanding the main plot is a matter of opinion. Can you understand Szeth's struggle without reading his backstory interludes? Maybe, but it's not going to mean as much to you... and I think you'd almost certainly be missing things in Lift's story if you haven't read her interludes in Words of Radiance.

I don't care. Don't shove novellas into a book which is supposed to have a plot. Publish them separately as Tales From Roshar, for people who devour every bit of Cosmere worldbuilding they can. What in Oathbringer interludes was plot-relevant? Something without which I am supposed to feel lost because I'm missing crucial information?

That's what I did, which proves they don't need to be in the book, despite multiple people telling me I'm missing stuff by skipping them. I'm not.

No. It proves they didn't add anything to your personal experience. Others, who wanted even more fleshing out of the world, may have enjoyed it. I generally don't care much, either, and could go without most of that stuff, but some are certainly interesting. In the end, this leaves both those who want more, and those who don't, satisfied.

They tend to reveal parts of the plot books ahead of time.

You are, and they do, you just don't like them. Your loss.
