Seen some of you in IRC really rode this games jock, and before I give my review, I'd like to hear some fun things to do in this game, b/c atm I've added so many plug-ins to the game to make it enjoyable to me that it may as well be a different game.

    list of plug ins:
-Mark/Recall to recall to different spots outside not fast-travelable

-Modified lvling. Does away with the micromanaging to get a good character later on

-No worthless loot in house chests

-Bashable chests. With a heavy weapon you can eventually bash a chest open

-Detect life change, so you get a xray of the monster instead of that glow

-Detect Hostility spell I got tired of killing innocents, since I play a sneaky archer

-Encumberance, makes alchemy stuff weightless, adds a larger modifier to the strength mod so I can carry more.

-Fog remover, improves performance in dungeons by killing the fog from torches and ambient fogging.

-Reduced the range guard can hear ppl yelling for help, to how far you can hear someone's voice, 1000 feet. Previously it was 3000 and they'd head you clear across town, inside a house.

-Quick Character, to skip the tutorial shit

-Trail map, adds major trails to the world map

-Ultimatehouse. Adds an awesome house on a massive tower right outside the sewer entrance.

I found a fount mod as well that allowed me to list 20+ items on screen at once, this along made my enjoyment of the game skyrocket. I'll post a pic in a bit

It seems I'm the only one who played this game besides Mid.

I must say that Morrowind was better. Oblivion isn't bad (it's great actually), but they dumbed it down for the consoles too much for my liking.

My main peevie with this game is that it's completely linear; In a single session you can become a member of ALL factions and complete ALL the quests the game has to offer. I know that I played Morrowind several times thanks exactly to the number of different paths you can take; choices that are either-either and lead you down completely different paths (Dunmer factions for example).

Back to Oblivion. Right now, I realize that I screwed up development of my character in several regards - for example, I took Mysticism which, while great in Morrowind, is total bullshit here (because they dumbed down the enchanting process). Now, I want to get rid of stupid Mysticism and take Destruction or Restoration instead. But I really don't feel like going through exactly the same quests all over again just to reach my 20+ level.

Like I said, linearity kills any RPG game IMO, great engine or not.

there's quite a few folks in IRC who said it was great, yet have failed to step up once I realized how boring the game was this go round. Fess up folks!

I got it a few days ago. Its pretty damn good but I have a few problems with it. There is not enough fighting. The AI is great but the Imperial Officers are WAY to damn smart.

Added quite alot more mods to it. I added one that makes the wilderness a shitload more dangerous, I can have pets that follow me around and help me, etc.

Regardless, it's pathetic how little there is to do, it's like a damned sandbox with pretty shiny things to look at. Archery is 100% worthless unless you add plug-ins, due to pathetic damage, and having to hold back the bowstring for a few seconds to get full damage, the magic system misses more often then not, etc.

meh 6 out of 10 I'd say, mostly just due to the way the AI is handled, and some decent scripted conversations.

Arena is WAY to easy. I finished the whole thing pretty fast just by blocking. Then I would hit him twice and then repeat over and over again.

Spell casting (and I suppose bowmanship) are too imprecise on mouse (I suppose you have some kind of auto aim on gamepad). The enemies are much more accurate than the player could ever hope to be. Meele fight still seems like the best option.

The archery in my opinion is decent. JUst poison your arrows and get two good hits on your enemy. Make sure you have a weapon on hotkey and switch to it, and fight the enemy in melee. Most of the time, the enemy will be dead after a few hits.

Having poision that only works per arrow isn't a viable option for me. It's tedious as shit, and none of the effects I see so far are worth a damned.

The best option I found, was to use the enchantments to add Weakness to * and the * Damage. However, due to the screwed enchant system you have to constantly recharge weapons... yet not constant effect armor.. wtf.

The Area for me is a pain in the ass for an archer, they just bumrush me it's like their speed is 10 times higher then mine or something, they're running around like the fricking Flash. The Twin Wood Elf sisters were particularly annoying with that damned archer sister.

Nah, I actually didn't know there was a grab function in the game, considering my copy didn't come with a manual.

My kids like it when I shoot someone in the head with my bow, so I keep screwing around with it, or I let my kids play it while I watch them

I love the grabbing action in the game, I discovered by mistake. So whenever I get bored and kill a few people, I take of their clothes and put them in...ahem...Compromising positions.

I did that the first time when I left the sewers, I encountered two bandits, a girl and a guy. Much fun.

I like the game, but my biggest annoyance about it is that I have to walk through forests for a long time, and I never encounter resistance. Maybe a bear here and a wild boar there, but not enough fighting. I still like Morrowind better.

My biggest annoyance has got to be how fucking outrageous the number of clicks you have to do to do anything.

Sell something= scrolling forever through tiny ass menus, find your item, click on it, click yes. Repeat 100x and it's tedious as FUCK. Just allow us to hold shift or something and bypass the goddamned confirmation window!

I got ahold of Morrowind complete set, I'll be trying that before too long. When I first played it, I found it boring as hell, but even that has to be better with it's multiple expansions and massive mod community, then this game, which is now on my PC anyway, so different from the original game thanks to mods/addons it may as well BE an expansion

*sigh* My computer is not L33T enough to play this, unfortunately. Hopefully, I'll be able to get a job this summer, and save up enought to upgrade my ram and processor.

    Try this

    http://www.oldblivion.com/

it scales back some of the most intensive effects to enable older PC's to play it

I love Oblivion. Do things to make it harder, if you think it's too easy. Set limits. I use Invisibility (a LOT), and since the Dark Brotherhood and Thieves' Guild quests are ridiculously easy with it, I did them without it, and it was like I was playing different quests. Mysticism is fun if you know what to do with it. I put the Gray Fox cowl on at night and sneak through the city as best I can. My record is getting into the city (from the west), and through three districts before I was caught. Then it was a bloodbath with the guards and whichever idiot citizens decided to join in. ...Does anybody know of an easier way to level up Destruction and Restoration? On my Mage, using all magic schools fairly equally, every other skill is at Master level by the time Destruction and Restoration are almost Journeyman.

...Ouch. That's it? I think I'll look for a mod that raises experience rate. That wouldn't work with Destruction, unless you have a target handy. I've tried just spamming it.. Restoration still works if you're at full health, but Destruction needs to hurt something or it doesn't raise.
