Primarily I think I would describe Of the River and the Sea as 'interesting' for its complicated plot and treatment of mental illness. With its decent writing and occasional indulgence of the author's desires, however, I think it lands at a 4/5. It can be entertaining, but it's hard to recommend.

given this author's characterisation in OtRatS and now this, i'm beginning to wonder if luna lovegood doesn't actually exist.

 

This is probably the only SI fic I've ever read that caught my attention and made it through the end while also enjoying it immensely. The ending left me hanging though. 4/5
