    Yeah, me too.

Apart from the Horcrux, what useful thing did Voldemort expect from it? If it simply took control of a mind, caused attacks, got all those pesky mudbloods out of the school, then promptly disappeared, that's one thing.
But instead it was going to create a whole new Tom Riddle. Why on earth would Voldemort ever want that? I mean, either he expects to die, despite his Horcruxes and wants a second chance WITHOUT any of the useful memories that might of told him what he did with his future self, what type of followers he had and how he died or he expects to live forever and have a less experienced copy of himself running around to share power with. What decent dark lord wants to have to deal with another one of themselves (unless they plan to use the copy in some sort of deadly ritual giving them more power, but then of course, the memory version would know this and not partcipate).

No, Harry will reason with Nagini, who will realize the evilness of her ways, and turn herself in to be exterminated.

It's only fitting, considering that his overbearing presence, fool of love and beauty, will be the only power that he ever has.

Don't you love how Harry is the only one who can kill Voldemort and it is implied that the reason he can is because of the almightly power-the-dark-lord-knows-not-that-is-love and yet any yahoo under the sun (besides Voldemort, and perhaps Snape) knows love?

I think if JK wants to go out properly, she'll probably have to spend at LEAST a quarter of the book tieing up ALL the lose ends from throughout the story. Horcruxes, dumbles death, RAB, snape, various smuts, etc. It'll take quite a while to sort out all of that...

Even then it will take close to 400 pages to tie up those loose ends....

Not to mention that after all that any magical hobo can defeat Voldie if they destroy the Horcrux first.... I mean it doesn't have to be Harry. Neville could do it!!

    That's a good point actually.

I reckon it's quite likely that Neville will do it, really (be the one to kill Voldemort). Harry'll get offed in a self-excorsism for the scar horcrux and 'lil Nevi boy will have to step up to the mark ... I wouldn't put some shit like that past JKR these days at all.

Actually if she pulled that off, she would go up in my books. Hell, even if she MADE Harry a Horcrux she would go up slightly in my books. But how likely is that?

No, despite the reason DD gives for thinking Nagini is a Horcrux being exactly the same as the evidence he has given Harry for his scar/connection to Voldemort, she will undoubtly ignore any logic and make the Horcruxes everyday objects(and by that I mean obvious objects anyone who can research will figure out), that Voldemort (despite being intelligent enough to fool an entire generation while he was at school - except DD) is stupid enough to put in obvious places that Harry can find in under a year, and destroy without destroying bits of himself - which DD dind't manage. Then, despite not knowing any Leg., he'll confront Voldemort, just after killing Nagini in front of him(showing that he knows about the Horcrux) and push his feeligs of love through the scar connection. Even better, it will happen when Voldemort attempts to enrage Harry by threatening Ginny and in a fit of desperation, he feels all the love for her he has and it is so overwhelming (even though, you know, he has like only a year in which these amazing feelings developed) that Voldemort explodes from the inside out. No one even has to use any of the pesky Dark Magic unforgivable spells to destroy him. Nope, he'll keel over without any AKing, shooting, stabbing or anything else that could potentially put someone on trial for killing someone else. Then Ron and Hermione marry and have lots of Weasleys, Ginny and Harry marry and have lots of little Potters and the Wizarding world moves on and remains the backwards society it is. And they all live happily ever after.

I just browsed through this thread again, and noticed that no-ones mentioned the infamously mysterious RAB!!

    --- borrowed from lexicon ---

    Regulus Black

    Born: 1961?
Died: 1980 (according to Lupin, he only managed to live a few days after "deserting" the Death Eaters --HBP6)

Regulus was the younger brother of Sirius Black. Unlike his brother, Regulus was favored by his parents because he shared their pureblood prejudices; soon after leaving Hogwarts, he joined the Death Eaters. JK tells us "Regulus got in a little too deep. Like Draco. He was attracted to it, but the reality of what it meant was way too much to handle." (TLC)

Many fans suspect that he might be the mysterious 'R.A.B.' who stole the locket Horcrux. His initials do match, as far as we can tell, and Jo acknowledged (TLC) that Regulus would be a "fine guess" for RAB's identity.

    ---

    Any thoughts on that, then??

I don't know about everyone else, but I figured it was like the locket: We all just kind of knew that to be the case 24 hours or less after reading the book. The locket was the one in Grimmauld Place. RAB is Regulus Black. Plus one implies the other fairly strongly and Regulus is the only character with R_B initials we have encountered so it is either him or someone we don't know yet.

    Yeah, but it's interesting.

I'm looking forward to Harry and co. figuring that one out anyway. And it poses other questions, like: Will Regulus play some sort of role in the upcoming book, and will he somehow (yeah, even from the grave) help in the search ... Obviously the trio will have to (eventually) go back to Grimmald Place. And, if he figured the Horcruxes out, it stands to reason that others might have.

What about this one, then - (Because, contrasting what Harry says at the end of HBP, JKR has previously stated that the books "...will span the seven years at Hogwarts.") - Will they or wont they return to school for seventh year??

I say no. And, if they do, I only hope it'll be fleetingly.

Wouldn't that be great? After all that moaning about not coming back, he finds 1, maybe 2, Horcruxes during the summer, then returns to Hogwarts where miraculously all the other Horcruxes are located, so he has time to continue being a sucky student who doesn't train, has time to be around whiny Ginny so they get back together and the final battle, as long predicted by fanfic authors everywhere is at Hogwarts.

The Dark Monarch "Where was there incest in the series?"

The whole deal with the Gaunts and there incestual ways. They were all doing eachother to get all cross eyed and retarded like that. Imbreeding causes genetic defects.

I was thinking Harry has the best chance of destroying the Horcuxes because In book 2 he says, while writing in the diary, it was like talking to an old friend he knew for years. Obviously the scar connection is MUCH deeper than Harry realizes. I think he will instinctually know where the Horcuxes are and what types of traps have been set. My reasoning for this is how he just KNEW he had to go to Godrics Hollow to see where everything started. I bet him going there will jog Harry's scar link, or memory, or whatever you want to call it. Leading them to clues to where horcuxes are. Maybe they'll find the cup in the house's rubble or that something of griffindors or ravenclaws.

While I think the theory that the scars gives him an instinctual connection to finding the Horcruxes isn't a bad idea, I think the above was caused by the power of the diary. I figured that if Tom wanted others to trust the diary enough to get someone writing in it long enough to take over their mind, then he would need a type of enchantment on it that made you feel like you were talking to an old friend.

Yeah, that'll have to lead to something, wont it? But finding a horcrux so soon and spontaneously in the novel - I'm not sure about that. I hope something cool does happen at Godric's, though.

I read somewhere too that book 7 will roughly be the same length as HBP, leaving OotP the longest. Hmph.

No, I didn't mean a real horocrux, I meant Harry might find an artifact from the founders that was going to be a horocrux. It's already been done in fannon, the reasoning is if Vold was going to use Harry's death to split his soul again he would of needed something to put it in. If the ritual failed, it probably went into Harry killing the darklord, and dropping the artifact to the ground. We know wormtail, probably, was at Godrics Hollow on Holloween because he used Volds wand at his resurrection to kill Cedric. So whoever was there, might have also picked up the artifact, if they knew of the ritual in the first place.

I think Harry carrying around part of Voldemort's soul for most of his life will have resulted in some changes in that bit of his soul, and changes in Harry, to the point that if Harry simply finds a way to send it back to Voldemort through the link, it would seriously fuck Voldemort up, possibly giving Harry the opportunity he needs to 'vanquish' him. But canon Harry seems to be so pathetic that he'll never learn the mind arts well enough to do that.

You'd have to wonder what the point would be. It would be a nice scene that should us nothing relevant to the plot (course I suppose that isn't out of JKR's realm of possibility. She does like writing useless things to waste page space) I mean the only useful thing would be if it showed one less Horcrux was made, or meant Harry was a Horcrux. But Nagini was created later, right? So I doubt the first would be true and like I said in an earlier post I don't really give JKR enough credit for the latter.

I doubt anyone else (except RAB) knew about the ritual. I don't think Voldemort would trust that type of knowledge to someone else.

She just does that cuz she wants each book to be longer than the previous. So she can sell the books for an arm and an eyeball.

Anywhoo. Heres somethin new for you guys to think about. I think that Harry is going to keep going on being the tiny little scroungy wimp and eventually get himself killed cuz he has no training and he's stupid. Yeahhp. Although that would make the entire series pointless. But ohwell. I really hated the sixth book. Who gives a damn about the horocrux's. Chop old voldy modly wartys head off. End o story?

I think that DD's lessons with Harry will be the most important factor in the ending of the book (together with love being the power). Harry gets to know Tom through his past and sees how the young orphan is corrupted.

Harry somehow finds and destroys the horcruxes (which are conveniently hidden in Hogwarts, I mean why bother creating a totally new setting for the final book) Remember that Tom made a half-hearted attempt to apply for defense professor, he would have hid them then.

After destroying the horcruxes (with something that will probably be as lame as a simple stupefy to them) he confronts Tom and they have a classic taunting scene (Tom tells deatheaters to stay out of it so he can have the "glory" of killing a teenage boy) but instead of Harry taunting Tom he talks aout Tom's past. This causes long-forgotten feelings to stir in the heart of Tom and he realizes how futile his attempts of world domination were and thus the persona of Lord Voldemort dies and Tom Riddle is reborn.

This would appease JK's need to redeem people, by showing that even in the worst cases there is always some good in people. And as the persona of Lord Voldemort fades so does Harry's scar...

I was just browsing mugglenet's 'book 7' section, and they've updated! This (although some points are shamefully obvious) is kinda interesting, I thought:
