Isn't that the bread one? Watched that years ago, the cast doesn't even compare imo.

I'd say if there's one thing I want I'd love seeing more of Mizuhara, I just really like her character. Wonder if he goes to her restaurant to learn Italian Cuisine or something akin to Shinomiya's stagiare.

There are two we don't know about. I've a feeling they'll come up as flashbacks when he utilizes those experiences.

    I like Mizuhara too. She's cute :3

'Your food is actually quite good once I wipe my mind of all memories of you Shonomiya', lol

I don't really think anyone could be as difficult to please as Shinomiya, hence they didn't really need a mention, nor were they in such dire straits as the first diner. Which was also partly more about Hisako's character as well.

Have to see what happens but I wouldn't be surprised if they don't get flashed to

Kurokiba doesn't cook, he glares at the ingredients until, fearing the consequences, they prepare themselves.

I'm going to throw out a recommendation for Plastic Memories. The basic premise is that artificial humans (aka Giftia) are things that exist, and that they have nine years to live before their memories start breaking down. The story follows Tsukasa who's a new worker at the Terminal Service Department, which retrieves obsolete Giftia.

It's a bit of a tearjerker (and by that I mean that if you are in any way emotional about this kind of stuff, you will cry), but the characters are well written (their development felt realistic and natural), and it doesn't shy away from offering up pain on a platter. If you liked Angel Beats you'll probably like this as well.

My favorite part of it - The characters, even the standard anime archetypes, are still decent characters. And yeah, they actually grow as the series progresses. It's like exactly what I don't expect from anime.

The main character has opinions and doesn't feel like a stand-in for the viewer. Holy shit, be still my heart.

Anyway. Really enjoyed Plastic Memories. You kind of know it's going for the emotional angle, but if you just accept it and enjoy the story it wants to tell, it's a good watch.

I agree with the plastic memories rec.

Latest episode of Shokugeki was excellent, probably the best so far. Also, the ending theme song is brilliantly suited to the show.

My only wish is that it was done by Madhouse tbh.

So ending of Ore ga Iru was a bit weird. Didn't feel like an ending at all.

Also did anyone actually understand what that whole interaction was about?

Yui basically says if they're all honest to each other, they won't be able to keep hanging out as a group of three anymore (ie, if Yukinon and Yui confess, Hikki would have to choose one of them).

Then she implies a solution to Yukinon's problem? I can barely remember what the bet was about? Then Hikki tells her not to say it?

I have no idea what just happened there. Anyone able to explain that scene?

Also, again this anime blows me away with its expressions and how characters use it to communicate. My highlight of the episode was actually Yukino's desperation, terror and cry for help that is completely summed up in that look she gives Yui when she's trying to summon courage to give Hikki chocolate, and Yui wants to give them time alone. And then the look of utter awkward moment straight after where Yui has no idea what to do. God, that sort of interaction is like nothing I've ever seen in anime before.

I have to admit, I don't think I've ever watched a love/comedy/drama where I actually ship all the characters. Can't make up my mind on Iroha, Yui and Yukinon. Definitely can't bear to see Yui or Yukinon heartbroken either.

Overall, season 2 has probably placed itself amongst my top 5 drama anime series I've seen.

Hibike Euphonium ended strongly and managed to maintain a pretty high standard all season. Looks like a second season would be likely. Dunno if anyone else except Nemrut is watching this, but I'd recommend it.

I really like this theme of being serious/competitive about your hobby versus just doing it for fun, which seems to dominate the anime. Especially because unlike most sports/hobby anime, the main character actually starts off as the less motivated one. As mentioned in my previous post, I really liked the protagonist - she feels quite real and not just a manufactured character to play a role.

It also doesn't dumb down the musical stuff for the audience. A lot of anime will try to exaggerate the difference between two players to give a clear contrast for the sake of the audience. Hibike Euphonium doesn't do that. Here's a good example - when you first hear Kaori play, you think "Hey, that's pretty good" and yet when you hear Reina play, it's clear she's a level above.

Really good job of getting the rehearsal atmosphere down. I had epic flashbacks to back when I played percussion at my high school concert band (probably not a good thing lol).

    Also, that yuri.

Oh god. I just watched the pilot for Gangsta, and now I desperately want to read the manga. At the same time, though, I don't want to ruin the anime for myself. Hnnng.

Shokugeki definitely wasn't ruined for me by reading the manga.

I feel like action and comedy are protected like that. Drama, probably not so much...

    But fuck Dtama anyways.

Holy hell. Dunno if it's been brought up yet, but I just watched the first episode of Gate and it hooked me almost immediately.

You'll know exactly when if you watch the episode. It was a pretty awesome bait and switch setup though.

Curious to hear what others think. Hard to rec off one episode, but I'll definitely be watching!

+1 for Gate. It's obviously too soon to be decisive, but it's been a long time since I saw a MC who is neither incompetent, perfect in all he does, nor a hopeless pervert. Maybe the fact he isn't a teenager helps.

I vaguely recall reading a few chapters of the manga. Shit translation ruined it for me. Not a bad ep though.

From what I'm hearing Gate is a light novel adaptation that might have a legit story, which was not what I was expecting from the summary.

The manga is pretty meeeh. It starts incredibly well, but soon it turns into a Fuck Yeah Japan! No, really. The Light Novel take that to ridiculous levels.

And the side characters aren’t nearly as unique or interesting as the MC and Rori. And it the manga gets some weird otaku shit too, not much but still annoying. But the fighting is realistic to a degree I’ve rarely seen on an anime.

I want Drifters or Gunka no Baltzar manga. That would be beautiful.

    None of this sounds bad.

I eagerly await for the inevitable catgirl encounter.
