I didn't like Earthsea that much.

Dresden files is awesome fuck you :/ EDIT: Also, after reading the synopsis of the first Felix Castor book it seems remarkably similar to Dresden...

 

I love the Dresden Files, it's a great series, I just think the Felix Castor series is much better written. And yeah, they're somewhat alike, but the Felix Castor series is a lot more serious.

 

The first Felix Castor book is actually the worst one too (Still great though), they progressively get better. The final book in the series was released in the UK earlier this month, I really need to get it somehow.

 

Why do so many supernatural/mystery novels (or books in general) take place in freaking London. No offense to the Brits among us, but I'd much rather hit the beat with Dresden in Second City than experience more London.

 

Because it's an old, famous city that lots of people know with a ton of history behind it? Seriously, there's a lot to work with if you pick a city like London to base your story in, even if you just isolate it to messing with history a bit.

 

Can't believe that this one made it on the list. I borrowed the first book from the library a couple of years ago and almost burned the book halfway through. Guess I just wasn't ready for the classics.

 

Glad someone else likes them too. One of my favorite fantasy characters is Drizzt, don't really know why. If anyone doesn't like him thats fine but the books got me through my senior year of high school so... fuck you .

 

Goddamn I hate The Chronicles of Amber. My parents made me read the first book when I was twelve, and I didn't understand shit in it. That pretty much ruined it forever for me.

Seriously, he does a lot of awesome characters. I'm not fond of a couple of them, but Drizzt, Entreri, Jarlaxle....

I like that series.

 

Eh, series started going downhill after Passage to Dawn, IMO. Favourite character remains Zaknafein, closely followed by Entreri and Jarlaxle. Probably doesn't deserve to belong in the top fantasy books of all time, though.

 

Anyone else read The Painted Man by Peter V. Brett? (or The Warded Man in some countries). A relatively new novel, but a real great read. Better then half the classics on that list.
