A fine victory for Germany I must say....
They looked better then the previous games but still have a lot of work to do to improve.

Meh, it's clear that Equador gave that game up. They are well aware that they'll be outclassed by whomever they meet in the 1/8 finals, so they intentionally removed all the key players and rested them for the big match.

Yeah but we're top of the group now, it's awesome.

    2-2 is a good result.

That was officially the most frustrating match ever.

Oh well, we're through, top of the table, and playing Equador. Pity about Owen but he hasn't been on top form this World Cup anyway so it's not as big a loss as it could have been.

WTF happened to the unbeatable English defence? It's like no one informed them that the ball can bounce :)

Anyway, great game by both teams. Sweeds wanted victory more, but England's quality pulled them through to the draw.

Positives to be taken for England:

We still can't beat the Swedes, but:

    We won the group.
    We avoid the Germans.
    We're scoring goals.
We looked sharper tonight (not hard).
We are unlikely to play Sweden again this WC. No more set-piece tomfoolery, you hope.

    The only way is up!

Im sorry but for me, that was Englands worst performance yet. They created 2 chances. And scored them. They were awful..... oh well, we won the group so well done...

It was our worst performence yet, but then we were facing the best team yet, so it's to be expected. Still, if we want to do well in this competition, we need to raise ourselves to another level.

I am a big fan of soccer myself and play on my freetime. I am really excited about the world cup this year and hopefully this time, an underdog team will win. Some one out of nowhere beats Brazil and bam takes the cup. that would be sick. oh well it probably wont happen :(

I don't think Brazil has performed up to their expectations. The England game was lame can you even score off a throw in, because I Tivoed the game and I swear nobody touched that ball I reviewed it in slow motion and it appeared nobody touched it. Also Eric Wynalda or was it Marcelo Balboa are douche bag has beens that needs to stop dissing players that are ten times better than them. He was baggin on Beckham the whole game. Stupid American anouncers make the U.S look so stupid. Announcers do not, in any other sport, make fun of the players, so why in soccer? In the Brazil game, the announcer said Ronaldo has been eating too many hot dogs and can't score the 2 goals for the record. The whole game the announcer was picking on Ronaldo. Seriously WTF

I do not believe what happened to England. They were in for such a solid start and then their defense just seemed to collapse. Hell it seemed like Sweden would have scored from every corner they had. It was unbelievable so quickly they degraded. I swear that second goal from Sweden was a major WTF moment for me. They really need to work on the defense aspects of the game.

Yeah, England's defence always seems to collapse the moment we score a goal.

It's like we're happy with a 1 goal lead and instead of pushing our advantage we just seem to think that the game is over and relax. If we just kept our concentration after our second goal, then Sweden wouldn't have been able to equalise.

It's strange, I thought we would've started badly and ended well because of the Owen injury. That kind of thing can ttle any team's concentration but Sweden didn't take advantage. The defence was terrible the second half, ridiculously so. however if teams start concentrating on scoring from set-pieces against us (which we usually defend very well), it could be a blessing in disguise as we have good counter-attacking players.

Anyway, Ecuador on Sunday which is a result in itself - if we don't underestimate them.

    Games today:

    16:00 Portugal ? - ? Mexico

Portogal should win, Mexico is good on paper, but they haven't shown much so far.

    16:00 Iran ? - ? Angola

Angola should bust their arses to win this one, hoping for a mirracle.

    21:00 Holland ? - ? Argentina

Match of the day, too bad I'll be forced to watch the last one... Anyway, I'm eager to see how these two teams fair against each other. Argentina should be stronger, but you never know...

    21:00 Ivory Coast ? - ? Serbia & Montenegro

Ivory Coast wins easily. Serbia has lost a few more players thanks to suspensions and injuries, so the coach will have only 12 players to chose from. Low moralle and other crap surrounding the team will ensure another embarrasing defeat.

The Swedes was too afraid the first half. Too much respect, but somehow they figured out in the break that they can play soccer too.

I thought that the Swedes should've wiped the floor with the English in the second half...they had, what, 3 legitimate goal-scoring opprotunities off of the cross bar? First half, however, England outmatched them badly.

Just for curiousity's sake, is Rooney for Owens a good trade?

On a side note -- Ronaldo HAS been eating to many fucking hot dogs. But yeah I hate American announcers... It's why I watch the games on the Spanish Channel.
