Yes, it's a wonderful trade. Argh! Owen's out for 5 months! Now we have two strikers who like to play deep. I bet Sven Fucking Erikson wishes he brought Defoe now. What a retarded lump of Swede (no offence to any Swedes - but anyway, if I was Swedish, I'd disown him)

I don't think you can disown someone just because you're of their nationality MS ;) . I'm sure if you could then we wouldn't have Kate Moss, god awful pop music, and a remarkably large population of chavs wearing 'bling'.

Sad news about Owen, though. I'm guessing this is the point that everyone in the media that was criticising him (the whole stampede), now go back to sympathising. Not sure if I agree with you about Defoe though - I'm sure he's really dissapointed and all about not being able to come, but I've never seen him as anything particularly sharp. I feel more sorry for Newcastle than I do for England though, at the moment - with Owen out, and Shearer retired, do they actually have a half-decent striker anymore?

Woohoo we're not losing yet! It's actually quite amazing how we (Holland) have had about two thirds of the possession. It is obvious that it's creating quite a few problems for the Argentinians. Another interesting fact is that the Argentinians haven't had a single yellow card yet, even though they are known for their aggressive playing style. Any yellows they get now will get cancelled when they get into the next round anyway so I am wondering if the ref just doesn't see any fouls or the Argentinians are just playing a lot mellower.

Don't worry, carnival, if you watch the Serbia Game, the cards plenty make up for the lack of cards in the Argentina game. I think that there was something like 7 yellows and a red in the first half!

God damnit Van Basten can't subsitute to save his life. First he puts in Babel, who hasn't really played for his team (Ajax) for quite some time and now he takes out Van Persie, the only spark of inspiration on this team for some shitty midfielder. This is going to be painful to watch.

EDIT: Thank god the Argentinians took Messi out, we might have some kind of chance now. Now there's only Riquelme and Tevez to worry about.

Element, if Rooney or Crouch get injured who the fuck are we gonna play up front? A sixteen year old who has a regular spot in the Arsenal reserves? Trust me, it could end in disaster if our front two don't watch themselves.

Oh yeah... No Riquelme *does happy dance*
Wouldn't it just be ironic if the Dutch scored in these last ten minutes, just after Argentina takes out two of their best players. If they're too cocky to take the game seriously they deserve it.

And so the first super!team to go out is Czech.

They've been bitterly unlucky with injuries. First Milan Baros is ruled out, then Koller gets ruled out and their third choice was suspended for the Italy game. This is one of the best teams Czech have ever produced and it's a pity it's practically the last of a generation. Even with injuries I expected them to get to the last 16. Damn!

    Croatia - 2 - 2 - Australia

    WHAT.THE.FUCK

Was that the best game ever or what!?

That referee, on the other hand, should be forbidden from approaching a stadium again, the mess he made will go into the history of World Cups...

  12. No doubt about it. The Aussies came up big.

Didn't Simunic get three yellow cards. Hahaha. The ref is funny as hell.

The USA team was a dissapointment.

Not to mention he forgot to award 2-3 penalties, allowed Aussies to score from an offside and generally made one big mess out of the game.

That was simply a sublime performance, it really was. It was a lesson in how to play football. Robinho was wonderful and Ronaldinho worked better by not taking centre stage. Ronaldo is officially joint top scorer in the history of the world cup with that thunderous finish. Last week was Argentina, this week is Brazil. And to put the icing on the cake, theiy're going into the easiest last 16 opponents they could ever have hoped for.

They really need to use technology to insure calls are made properly. For example, they could have 2 refs review in a seperate booth and be able to communicate the proper call to the field officials. This is the world cup!!! There are like 24 cameras showing these clowns getting taken down or taking dives. The Ganna Vs. U.S game was awful that guy was not fouled he took a dive, which cost the U.S the match. I don't expect the U.S to win the cup, but at least move on a few more games, I'm very disappointed.

Ha Zeljko Kalac made an absolute howler. How is that guy playing for AC Milan.

I saw him come on in the last minute of extra time in the play off final for Leicester 10 years ago. The players were so scared that he might have to save something, they went ahead and scored 20 seconds later.

    blah stupid USA failed

yeah i know watching us play is very boring and makes soccer (football) look very ugly but still i hope sometime it can be big in america because its definatelly better than the other sports people love (baseball is so boring its torture)

but oh well i'll root for Italy only now but i'd expect either Brazil or Argentina to win it all.

I watched the USA game VS Ghana, I am not exactly a big fan of The US nor Ghana so i was neutral on this one but i guess in the end i wanted Ghana to win. The referee had some bad calls though. Looking forward to brazil and ghana. now if ghana beat brazil... that would truly be something

Brazil beaten by Ghana?? Highly unlikely. If they did it would be a major upset in the world cup and a day declared as a national holiday in Ghana. Brazils is finally getting their groove going but the team still seems a little shaky.

The Swiss on the other hand are going strong. Great match against Korea. Its just a real pity that France won against Togo. I think Korea deserved a chance at the top 16s.

The US... not really surprising. No offence to all Americano here but the team suxed. It was like they have relegated back to the team they were in the 1998 games...
