    I'm backing Germany.

They've been, by all accounts, brilliant hosts for the World Cup. And I haven't seen any German players running to the referee following a tackle and asking for opposition players to be sent off and Klinsmann strikes me a passionate coach who has got the team playing for each other.

I'm backing Germany of course. I think it'll be 2-1 for Germany, but it'll be a close call.

I HATE Italy and like Germany. Can't wait for Panzers to kick their buts.

Halftime. Still without a goal. I can't really say, who's better.
Panzers? Since when are we called Panzers? I thought we were called "Krauts"?

It seems like 2-1 is a very popular choice :)

So far, the Italians have been playing more actively than before, putting the German team under preassure, though they are holding against. Italy had more chances, but Germany had the better ones, if only Ballack would stop shooting at the goal, his shots haven't been anywhere near the goal.

Anyway, I guess they'll play to and fro a bit more, until the first goal is scored. Then, all hell'll break loose :)

He's been doing that all tournament though. I think he's just desperate to get a goal this tournament (and with desperation comes a lot of shots apparently).

Italy seems to be playing better (much as I loathe admit it) although they're depending too much on Pirlo for anything to happen and have missed some pretty big chances already. I think this will stay 0-0 till overtime at least, I don't see either one of the teams breaking through the other's defence at the moment.

And Italy pull it back from the brink right at the end. Wahoo! Del Piero scored a lovely goal. 2-nil in a matter of minutes.

Italia played well in the first half and got bad to the end. The goals were surprise though.

You've got to be kidding me... Although I like the fact that Del Piero scored, he's one of the only Italy players I actually like.

I didn't care who won, but wow! What an exciting finish. Both of those goals were real pretty.

I thought we were going to kicks, and they kept showing that Italy 0-3 in kicks and Germany 4-0 in kicks (World Cup Leader).

Both of those overtimes were much more exciting and desperate than regulation.

    Pity :(

Italy was better in the overtime, even the first two chances could have decided it. Germany didn't really get to be dangerous for Buffon (maybe once), while the German goal was in quite some danger for most of the overtime.

I would have liked to see a shoot-out though :)

Germany still has never won against Italy :(

And Italy made to the final twelve years after her last once. The sacred stastics work!
What an exciting finish for an active game!

I totally agree with you there. Arrgh! But I have to admit that Italy won deserved. It's a shame, but they were better in the overtime. I just hope now, that Portugal makes it to the finals and beat Italy. At least we can kick the French now to the 4th place.
