Although with the way the world cup has been going so far it wouldn't surprise me if suddenly france wins again.

From a neutral perspective, it was a fantastic finish. Italy deserved the win but not by 2 goals. Italy could go all the way from here. '82 = Italy had controversialities off the pitch. They went on to win the World Cup. '06 = Once again, controversialities off the pitch and now they're in the final. Coincidence? Perhaps...

I think perhaps you're referring to the French there? I always saw the Italians as Pasta/Pizze people.

I think that the french will win again. Italy played well against Germany but not as well as the french have played in the few games I have seen them play.

There's no shame in loosing like that, though. Those were just some fantastic goals at the finish. However, Germany was my favorite...

    /me lost $25

Hm, I was pretty sure frog legs were Italian speciality...

Whatever, they are still lucky posers... Although, I must admit they played a great game tonight...

hmm, i had a bet with a guy at work that it would be 2-1 italy in regulation.

    bah.

well, as for who's left...as an arsenal man i've got to go with france. not to mention what a nice swan song it would be for zissou to go out with another cup.

It was funny, about 15 mins after the game was over...A bunch italians went around the town in their cars honking horns and holding italian flags out. They were wild and proud! I don't blame them though, those 2 goals were beautiful.

Now it's Portugal against France. I don't know what will happen because I want Portugal to win and yet France will be a tough team to beat. :(

Man what an end. It was a great match. I wish these two teams had met in the finals. I think Italy will go all the way.

italy has a strong, strong defense. best centre back in the tourney (cannavarro), dominant full backs...oh and that buffon guy.

they haven't allowed a goal yet.

think henry, ribery, and zidane would be up for it? (assuming the portuguese actors don't fake their way to a final?)

You know whats funny? Australia did beat Italy, although the score didn't show it due to a bad referee call, so in fact with italy this far, Australia should be this far and who knows, if italy win, Australia should've by right, won the world cup going on this point of view. GO ITALY ahahahahhaa.

    Viva la Portugal!

Even though France really should win...

EDIT: Alas, the frogs will advance to the final. Pity...

That was a stupid foul in the box. They couldn't not call it, but it wasn't a bad foul.

Feels like I got ripped off that that was what decided the game. Oh well. I really think the announcers like to say "Zidane." It does have a nice 'villain-y' sound to it.

Viva La France! WooT! France ftw!

    I loved how:

    1. Christiano Ronaldo got booed
    2. Chrisiano Rnaldo's dives were spotted...'Boy Who Cried Wolf' >_< good call by Lawrence
    3. Christiano Ronaldo cried at the end.

It would be so fitting for Zidane, one of the best players the world has ever seen, to play his last match captaining his adopted country to a second world title. Would be a fairy tale ending placing him in the stratosphere with Pele and Maradona.

    FRANCE FTW!

These are the two teams that I did not want in the final. From the start, France and Italy were my least favorite teams. I was hoping for a Germany vs. England match, but...oh well.

I think this will be an amazing game. France's offence vs. Italy's defence will take the spotlight.
