*Snort* France are hardly offensiv. I'll be more like a clash of the top defensive players of the world. All of the France back 4 have won their respective leagues this year (Bayern, Juve, Chelsea and Lyon) and the Italian back 4 are world-renowned.

    Viva la France!

Awesome game and a good result.
Although I was a bit puzzled by Portugals Goal keeper, and Ronaldo needs to get into acting.

I had France called in the back of my mind for the final the second they made the round of 16... Zidane wasn't gonna go out any other way.

As for Portugals defeat, I was overjoyed. I hate divers, and thats what the Portuguese team is made of.

France's keeper nearly gave me a heart attack 3 times during the course of that game, and he is incredibly lucky that the one Portuguese header went over.

I think that Henry and Zidane should be able to carry France past Italy, but it will probably be either 1-nil or 2-1... Zidane has lost a couple of steps since the '98 Cup and Henry has made a habit of underperforming in International play.

If Italy can manage to score 2 goals then I don't see France winning.

MS: I don't know shit about them, but I just thought that Henry and Zidane and Ribery made for a pretty good offence...

Anyways, I'm actually looking forward to the third place game more than the championship. Italy and France just doesn't seem pleasant to me...

    Third Place?

The Amazing Diving Portuguese vs. The Germans?

You must be out of your mind... My guess is that Ronaldo finally gets the red when he makes such a blatant dive that the ref can't even give him a yellow.

I was gonna kill Barthez if he gave up any of those goals at the last minutes for the equalizer.

I kept rewinding the Tivo to watch Ronaldo dive to try and get some calls, ridiculous.

F*** the Portugese when they go for third place.

The only fun thing about watching Portugal and Germany, is watching Germany whoop ass on Portugal.

Frankly I didn't care for either of these teams. Neither are that good, imo, and watching them play wasn't as exciting as the Germany - Italy game. That said I don't think France deserved that penalty. Infact I saw number of occations where the referee was a little lacking.

This game should have been England - Brazil.

Unfortunately, it couldn't have been as England were in the same semi-final bracket as Brazil.

I meant that instead of France v. Portugal, the semi-final should have had England v. Brazil. But you don't always get what you want.

So who's going to win the Losers final... Portugal or Germany?

    I say Germany.

I truly hope the germans grind portugal into dust. The portugese team deserve bloody oscars, not third place. That and I think that germany are the better team.

    Today's Match:

    Portugal v Germany [8pm GMT]

2-0 Germany. Okay, bias affected my prediction for the score but I sincerely think the Germans will dominate. They play a nice attacing 4-4-2 formation whereas Portugal play a dodgy 4-5-1. Notice how most of the teams they faced in the latter stages also played 4-5-1 (therefore stopping portugal from getting creamed).

Well, one thing is sure - Christiano Ronaldo WILL cry again; happy or sad tears, but he will; he's just that much of a wuss. THAT'S my expert analyzis.

As for the game, I'd like to see Germans win against those pussy divers.

Christiano Ronaldo ALWAYS cries, so that's not really as much of a prediction as it is a fact :)

Hell yeah. Go Germany. It will be action pack with a sob story from Ronaldo and Scolari at the end.

Ah well, we'll see what Germany can do without Mertesacker, Friedrich, Ballack and Lehmann. I'm sincerely hoping for some nice attacking football, maybe have Klose get another goal in.

    Final

I'm going to miss the final! It totally sucks. I am going to a summer thing at Widener university that I signed up for before I got into the world cup.

I'm trying to get my brother to tape it for me, but I'm not sure he'll remember.

Me too! I'm going to Cozumel tomorrow, and we're gonna be in the air during the match. I'm sure we'll learn who won from the natives, though. :D

Forget all the germans who didn't play. Schweinsteiger was all they needed.

And fewer dives than usual. Even one sweet looking goal from Portugal.

But it really feels like this is such a loser game. Not the game for 3rd and 4th.

3-1 Germany. I'm happy we're at least 3rd. I think it was a nice game. I don't know about the others, but Lehmann didn't play to give Kahn (the second keeper) a chance to play. Now every member of the German team (except the 3rd keeper) played.
