Two Years! FUCK. Considering the Strawhats have only been traveling together for something like six months altogether, two years of training is just wild.

I can't wait to see what happens to all of them, it's going to be pretty awesome.

And holy shit, Haki finally explained. Now all the arguments and debates can finally stop. I like what Oda is doing with it.

 

Nice chapter. Not too much action, but lots of info. The 3D2Y tattoo was really unexpected and I thought it was a really nice twist. Haki seems really awesome from Rayleigh's explanations. I'm hoping for a time skip instead of too many training montages, but the four week break is gonna suck. I guess Oda needs to come up with new ideas or something?

 

There's no official explanation, but a lot of speculation. First, there's his wife, who demands satisfaction. There's also the fact that a hell of a lot of stuff is going to go on in two years, and Oda is probably mapping out the specifics. Four weeks could represent the two year gap, maybe.


There's also the fact that, as a manga writer/artist, he gets worked like a dog. They seriously work hard, and he's getting a vacation to spend time with his family.

Haki makes perfect sense now, as does the whole Skypeia arc in a general sense. That being said, it seems as if the entire crew should/needs training in this to continue. I wonder if Rayleigh will be the only one showing a Straw Hat member the ins and outs? I imagine the Conqueror Haki is his specialty considering so few people can use it, hence his training of Luffy.

I really liked the chapter. I was worried how things would progress with not having seen the main crew for so long. Seems fitting too that they don't think they're ready for the New World yet. Lets Oda expand the universe without "OMG OVER 9000?!" power ups of the crew.

Pretty sure this isn't a vacation thing. It sounds like rewrites to me. Four weeks is about the time it'll take to churn out new chapters from scratch. I'm betting Oda decided this last minute and had to rework the chapters so he asked for a month off to do so. Considering it's One Piece, one month to improve the story isn't gonna get refused.

 

Decided what last minute? The two year skip? Oda's said himself he has the entire series' plot sketched out. I don't think something this major would be such a sudden decision on his part.

 

Oda also said that the war between Whitebeard and the Government was the last one where Luffy would remain as a seventeen year old a while back. So I figured there would be a time-skip some time after.

Anyways, this chapter was great. Looking forward to their growth.

 

Rayleigh is not to be fucked with. He showed off all 3 types of Haki so damn casually. Luffy took off the strawhat shit is bout to go down. 2 year timeskip damn. Epic chapter is :awesome epic.

 

Part 1 ends after 600 chapters.

Good grief. I'll probably have to finish reading this story to my kids.

And I don't have any kids.

 

If Part 2 lasts as long as Part 1 did, then we're looking at at least another decade and change full of awesome.

Wow, this chapter just blew my mind. All characters capable of using Haki have been introduced, the King's Disposition has been explained along with the other two...mantra's been confirmed as Haki...and 2 year time skip up-ahead...One Piece is about to take a new level of awesome...

Agree that Luffy looks the same. Ditto to chopper although I did not expect him to change.

Franky just looks bizarre from that small picture, need to see him for real in the manga though before I can make any judgment. Goes for every Straw Hat.

No way, no fucking way. It looks like it certainly but he has two new swords, couple that with the fact that he will never loose Kushina's sword which means he is still using Santoryu.

Although it would be just like Oda to change the fighting stlye of one of the most beloved character of the series...

Still believe he has all arms and eyes, just one more scar and a more grown up look.

 

Honestly, I don't really know why, but Luffy looking the same really disappointed me. I mean, he is only half a year from 19, and you're telling be his appearance hasn't changed even a little?

The only things he has had that changed were his cloths and a new scar. He is the only member of the crew whose design hasn't really changed, and it is kinda getting annoying.

Look at his arms as an example, they still look like twigs, no added muscle really shown anywhere. He still looks like a little kid, and appearance wise makes it seem like he hasn't even matured much, if at all...
