Gear 4th was not what i was expecting. Scratch that, not sure what i was expecting. But it wasn't that.

Though Sawyer7mage(youtube reviewer) kinda called it on it being similar to the form Luffy took on when he absorbed all those shadows when he was fighting Moria.

    Let the curbstomp begin :D.

Aesthetically wise, i'm in 100% agreement. But dat power doe. Which is kinda funny cause i remember myself thinking the exact same thing about Gear 3rd.

This is basically Gear 3rd on steroids and crack. We'll have to see what hilarious drawback gear 4th has.

Reminds me of Shadow-Luffy from Thriller Bark. I kinda like it, but I didn't get the flying part. Is it a bastard-version of Geppo?

I'm just lulzing, imagining the scenarios in which both Oda as the writer and Luffy as the character come up with the names.
    Poundman indeed.

You know what? I like it.

It's like the perfect combination of Stupid, silly, and awesome. That strength, though, holy shit. So much power.

I'm hoping that was just mangapanda's stupid translation(or whoever scanlated that) I haven't read it on mangastream yet but i'm about to, to see if they came up with the same translation.

The name however makes me think, maybe Luffy's Gear 4th has different modes. Luffy hasn't named any of his other Gear's like that, it was always "Gear 2nd" or "Gear 3rd" no secondary name. And it didn't seem to be naming a specific attack either. It seemed to be naming the form he took when he used Gear 4th.

The only logical reason i can think of for doing that is if you have different modes to use in Gear 4th. Anyone else's thoughts on this?

Edit: Just read Mangastream's they call it Bounceman(Boundman)

Well, I was hoping that Gear Fourth would be more clever rather than more advanced versions of what Luffy could also sort of do, but I admit this makes sense. Luffy is a straightforward sort of guy who'd think like this.

Cool enough. Now maybe we can move along since the 'big fight' has started properly.

Yeah, I think I might've been disappointed if it had been something scientific. I mean.. it's Luffy.

One day he ate a mystery fruit, and now he can eat more meat.

    Devil Fruit wh...wha....what?!!

OMFG. Did Doflamingo seriously just drop a line at some untapped potential of the devil fruits that Luffy has yet to experience? Or have we seen examples of this already and we just didn't know it.

Someone on another website claimed that Crocodile mentioned awakened zoans in Impel Down, i don't remember this but i might go back to read and check. My mind is blown. This would explain why Punk Hazard's fucking fucked the way it is. Because both Aokiji and Akainu were awakened and their powers affected the terrain of the island itself.

Holy fuck....what could an awakened Luffy do? Make the land itself turn rubbery and so it'd basically act like a trampoline? Jesus, what about Robin or Chopper if they ever get to that point?

Who thinks this might be the end for Doflamingo? I'm leaning towards no. We didn't see birdcage get destroyed. But how much more does Luffy have to show us though? This Leo Bazooka seems powerful enough to be a finishing move for the fight but idk...

Just storywise, I don't think this is the end. Luffy and Doflamingo just now used their trump cards. Gear 4s drawback was just lampshaded. It'd be just to short a fight.
Luffy will start losing again, we'll see Gear 4s drawback and Doflamingo can monologue some about the Devil Fruits awakening.

Then - Oda will surprise us somehow.

Hmmm, I think Mick Jagger may have been doing something to that effect. I think he made the entire battlefield start waving around at one point.

I gotta admit, I'm kinda hyped about Awakening and what it could mean. I know a lot of people get upset at powerups and all that, but I have faith in Oda that whatever he pulls out will be unique and fun.

It's interesting, seeing the reactions. We've got a bare bones statement that some kind of higher level exists, and already folks are condemning the entire system. I'm looking forward to finding out what it is. :D

It happened with Haki as well, and that thing had been sorta forshadowed in the very first chapter of the manga.

Crocodile mentioned, that the animal guards of Impel Down were awakened zoan types (maybe the size?). Could it be, that Chopper temporary forced an Awakening with his rumble balls? He's the only one with more transformations.

According to Doflamingo, the telltale sign of an Awakened devil fruit user is when their power starts affecting the area itself around the user. So Chopper definitely didn't force an Awakening with his rumble balls. His rumble balls is just his version of Lucci and Kaku's(giraffe dude) different transformations, except his are more exaggerated than their's because they still new to their DF abilities and were still getting used to them.
