It looks like the anime is sticking to the manga very closely, which is great, because the manga is awesome. Each episode covers several manga chapters, which is also nice.

Episode was good. OPM doesn't dissapoint so far.

Didn't think I would get back into anime/manga but this has brought me back, a great take on an age old trope. I might even be looking forward to the eventual filler episodes when the anime catches up.

As much as I was eagerly anticipating this anime, I wasn't expecting much since it would be really difficult to capture Murata Yūsuke's fantastic artwork. All these years later, and I'm still annoyed that the anime for Eyeshield 21 was such crap compared to the manga. Then again, it is my favorite sports manga, so I could be super biased.

However, OPM has delivered some great visuals so far and god, that last episode with the spar between Genos and Saitama was just.... *drools*

Yeah. Hopefully we'll get to see some of the more interesting fights soon. Episode rocked.

OPM is great because it doesn't deviate from the manga, but simply adapts it with great animation. AM very hopeful for this.

Yea, makes me worried for Madhouse slightly. Every episode has had 20/10 tier art and animation. And they haven't even really gotten into some of the crazy fights yet.

I hope they don't run themselves into the red putting so much money into each episode. Will be a sad sad day if Madhouse isn't able to recoup their money back from this.

Production overall seems very impressive. The opening and closing songs are great and do their jobs very well (opening for hype, closing for relaxation).

Gotta say, while I do like the opening song a lot, the outro is just so nice to hear that I looked it up. Great work.

This anime continues to impress me. Holy shit the animation in Episode 7. Finally getting to the jucier parts of the story where people start realizing Saitama is a beast.

Fuck the tank top brothers. Need to get beat by some wives.

Having gone through the entire manga over the past week, I love this series. I'm really glad that the anime adaptation is living up to the hype, too.

Also, King is definitely the best character, hands down.

I only just started this series. The anime looked so good I thought to give the manga a try and nearly had a heart attack when I stumbled upon the original web comic version of it first. Just how does something that looks like THAT go on to be a manga and then an anime?

Indeed. The story is frankly awesome. Very funny, great jokes, great characters and the best take on the problems with Shonen and Super Sentai series/protags.

So I've been waffling back and forth. I discovered the anime through Hulu and have been eagerly watching each episode as it comes out. Wanting more, I found the manga and started reading it, and the anime seems to be superior. For example, the overly long speech Genos gives about his origins takes up a single, large panel in the manga, whereas in the anime he just gives it as normal...and keeps going and going and going and going. When he hits Mosquito Queen in the manga, she gets punched through a building, shattering it and disappearing into the sky. In the anime, she gets liquefied over an entire building. It just seems to have better humor timing and better visuals.

But at the same time, I am hooked on OPM and desperately want more while the manga sits there on my list taunting me. Given my tendency to blitz-skim through manga, should I wait for the anime episodes as they come out, or just go ahead and read the manga? Which do you guys prefer, manga or anime?

It's a different medium between the two but considering how closely the anime is going to the manga it's fairly moot. I read the manga a while before the anime was announced so for me it was similar to 'I can't wait to see how they're going to animate this fight or this scene.'. Like the upcoming Sea King episode, I wonder if they're going to make it more than one episode or not.

I'd say read the manga and look forward to the anime DrSarcasm.

I prefer the manga, simply because I cannot stop drooling over Yusuke Murata's drawing.

In the original version, there was this wonderful use of mise-en-scene, each fight was superbly choreographed even though the art was really rough (you get used to it and One does get better).

When Murata did his version... Not only was the art style absolutely gorgeous, but he also dramatically increased the composition in fight sequences to such a degree that it is ridiculous. I mean dedicating entire pages to show the progression of a laser beam or Sonic's speed, or every time he shows the after-effects of Saitama's monstrous strength, etc.

Before the anime started everyone feared the animation wouldn't render justice to the manga and what Murata did. Thankfully the anime is awesome but my love for the manga remains strong. :)

And while I'm at it, here is a link to a cool article about the anime:

The anime's art is better than most, but the manga adaptation still blows it out of the water. That's the pull for it, as it always has been.

The latest episode where the Mumem Rider stoped at the red light in an abandoned city cracked me up. Don't worry about saving the city, obey the road rules.

Licenseless Rider seems to be a fan favourite throughout all of the people I have talked to about it. The fact that amongst all the shonen tier bullshit there is just this guy who fights by throwing his Bike is fucking hilarious.
