I don't think so. The writing is iffy throughout, with Japanese words used egregiously (gaki, hime-sama) along other poor word choices (freaking as a curse word) and spotty punctuation. The plot is typical, and not much has happened other than Jiraiya kicking ass and being a pervert.

However, the idea is novel (as novel as a FoZ fics with alternate familiar can be, anyways) and it's short (30k word, 3 chapters), so it might be a decent guilty pleasure time waster.

If there is going to be a FoZ fic that is to be recommended, I would highly recommend this one.

    https://www.fanfiction.net/s/10380567/1/Appearance-of-the-White-Lady

First reason it is great. The thing starts a year after the start of FoZ. No dumb flowery kid I forgot the name of. No dumb chase the thief. The backstabbing plot has already happened! WE CAN SEE PARTS OF THE FOZ NO ONE HAS SEEN BEFORE IN FANFICTION!

Also the person that got summoned was Quelaan, the one insane spider lady that a convent is based around in Dark Souls. She was summoned by Tiffania. This is great because while she is still a spider lady, the second chapter makes it so very clear Quelaan is the right kind of overpowered in the setting. Not the ability to make magic go boom boom, but her knowledge. She feels ancient in the setting and fits well.

The issue so far is not much happens.

This story I found while FFN diving.

It is awesome story about Loki after second Thor movie. I am going to be putting this up for rewiew soon but I tough I would get a few opinion from you guys. Since it has some danger signs about Odin's character but it is not really big problem yet.

It has Loki and Eric Selvig tripping buddycop style. here is a short quote. [By hand copy damn you FFN]

    And link;

    You linked chapter six.

It's an enjoyable story, but it's a bit fluffy. Loki seems to have it a bit easy; people liked him as ruler, Stark figures out he may have been ensorcelled, he gets along with Selvig. But there seems to be conflict building up, what with Odin being vengeful. So it's worth keeping up with.

Right sorry about the link. I changed to first chapter.

Also Loki having easy well, there is so few people he rules over, it is expected. I imagine problems will crop up when more people comes in.

There is also an internal conflict of Loki which seems to building over to something as well. Altough it might not go anywhere.

I remember us talking about this fic before, but I can't seem to find a thread about it. If I remember correctly, it might've just been derailing Devil you know thread.

Anyways, Beyond the Outer Gate Lies got updated. It's a Dresden Files/High School dxd fic. Not crazy amazing, but it's by gabriel blessing so there's a certain amount of quality to it. A new chapter just came out today, and it's super super long.

No, this is a different story. And it was indeed discussed a bit in the Devil You Know thread as a derail/mention.

Couple of random recs from fandoms I don't usually read.

    Avatar: The Last Airbender

Without A Fight: Part 1 Part 2 by suzukiblu

Summary: An AU take on Zuko’s banishment. “Thirteen years old and alone in the Earth Kingdom, thrown out of his life and family and destiny with the burn on his face still raw and new, Zuko does not want to go on.”

This story pulls you in and doesn't let go. A very good what-if. I found myself wanting to read more of this AU.

    Black Lagoon

The Thing About Lithium Bullets Is... by DarkenedSakura

Summary: Revy doesn’t believe in penance, in love, in fixing broken people the way the movies do. She’s not the only one.

A good, well-written look inside Revy's head and her relationship with Rock. One of the few decent stories I've found in this fandom.

I think the best thing that can be said about GB's story is that it could have been worse. I can't say that the story made me feel even the vaguest flicker of emotion for any of the characters.

The first chapter was decent, I would even say it leans towards one of the less awful attempts at a "Drop the main character from one series into another and see what happens" types of stories that I've read over the years. How he ended up dealing with Raynare I found fairly stupid, though I suppose it makes sense what with Dresden
    being their Outsider
    .

Second chapter read like one of the better chapters of "In Flight" though if that's a good thing is up to personal opinion.

The third chapter reads like the one of the more clusterfucky bits of "In Flight" .

TL;DR It's Gabriel Blessing, if you care for his other stuff, like as not this won't make you puke. 2/5 - 3/5 given that it's something to read between chapters of the better version.

I've been on a Naruto binge for a while... and I've slugged through mountains of crap to find this decent gem.

Anyway, despite the weak premises, this story shows great promise. Characters are believable, the narration of the story evolves as Naruto grows up, the world is gritty and believable... character death happens.

It still has its flaws though....but I'll be damned if I can remember what they are. I was drunk, sue me.

Anyway, give it a try. The OC aren't Mary Sue, and you actually start to develop genuine feelings for some of the OC characters. The villains aren't card carrying members of the Evil Organization -- they all have real reasons why they turn out to be like that, and the lines between "good" and "bad" don't exist anymore.

There is precious little of the shinobi world as we know it -- the entire story takes place in the Iron Country with Naruto as a high ranking samurai figure.

all in all, it's a great little story, while not library quality, is very good.

Bah, I suck at reviews. I'll just shut up and let other people review it for me.

Found this earlier today, so far it's a solid fic with my only complaint being that you get introduced to a OC's really fast.

This takes place during the final episode after Numbah 1 leaves for Galactic KND but before the second part of the episode where the original sector V are all adults. Which is a huge period of time, as a reference it's mentioned that sector V is in high school and are all decommissioned.

Numbah 4's younger brother Joey is an operative now and a few villains like the cheese shogun and father have been mentioned. I just finished chapter two which is why I'm putting it here instead of up for recc. If it keeps heading on the same path as it is now then it's a 4/5 and probably the best KND fic I've read.

Is there such a thing as a good KND story? I admit, it's not a fandom I've really explored, but the one time I looked out of nostalgia for the show, it was all weird Numbuh 4 and Numbuh 3 ship fics.

This one is, a bit of pacing problems, ten chapters in and the romance is barely there. It also reads as a darker fic than the show was. I'm still debating whether that's good or not though.

Honestly, I was quasi-considering putting this up for review, but I'm hesitating. It's only about 60K words long, and I'm not sure enough has happened to say, definitively, that it will be a good fic.

So, I'll put here, if it hasn't already been brought up: Blind Stars of Fortune

It's a Kakashi-centric timetravel story. The plot device used is kind of half-baked but easily ignorable. The Kakashi who is sent backward in time is from the Invasion/Destruction of Konoha arc, when he was fighting Pein.

Pros: Kakashi reads like a badass. He's only sent 10 years back in the past, to when he was 20, so none of that 'I need wait a ton of years to get enouhh of a rank to actually change thing' here. He's a former ANBU Captain and it shows, though he 'quits' ANBU fairly quickly to take care of 6 year old Naruto. Not that it lasts long, as he gets drawn abck in a few chapters later for a fairly intriguing mission. The politics is believable, for what's there.

Cons: Council of Clan Head and Elders. Not mentioned much, and they're not evil and it reads like an actual council but it's there and I know it ticks some people off. Kakashi refers to his friends and family as 'pack' semi-regularly, though only in his head. I won't be surprised if that puts people off. (Honestly, in my head, it's easily ignored, and Kakashi IS probably fucked up in the head) The action sometimes falls flat.
