Whenever I see that fic mentioned, I get sad; because I always have an urge to re-read it, and I'm intrigued... but it'll never be finished.

I'm still not sure of the standards expected here so I'll put this fic here.

I'm enjoying it. Heavy use of OCs but none of them seemed to have turned into Sues or self-inserts.

Stumbled across this RWBY/Naruto xover, and so far it is easily the best in the fandom. In takes place in the RWBY world with Naruto as the main protagonist.

Naruto is a professor at beacon who has taken on a mentoring role for team RWBY. While it is 50k long at the moment, there hasn't been much progression on the RWBY plotline front, but considering its RWBY, the author is keeping true to form.

Technically the xover is a merger of both worlds, as Kohona characters are starting to show up as the story goes on. Won't say much more as there isn't much to spoil in the first place, but if you like RWBY and Naruto give this story a crack. The only real obvious downside is some of the dialogue humor is annoying, like "WWWAAAHAAHHHHH," etc., but that is few and far between and easily ignorable.

Either way this story isn't groundbreaking, but if your a fan of RWBY then it's definitely worth a read.

    Speaking of RWBY stories...

Jaune Arc, the "normal guy" of RWBY, gains the powers of a video game character before canon starts. It diverges quickly from there, and at this point is miles away from canon. The crossover is some korean manhwa I hadn't heard of until I saw this story, but it's not important to know about it, since the story explains the mechanics it takes. Only about half of the story is available on FFN, with the rest on spacebattles.

It's a Ryuugi Shi story, so it's liable to be dropped at any time, but it's been updating quickly so far. If it continues after this arc ends, I'll consider putting it up for review.

I'm still waiting for a decent RWBY/HP crossover. I spoke to Silently Watches (Faery Heroes, Princess of the Blacks) and he's probably going to do one soon thankfully.

Don't you put that fucking evil on me.

Games We Play is one of three not only readable but good stories on spacebattles right now, the other two being Survivor is Born and Working Title, both of which are currently shared over on DLP. Far less important than it being one of the only readable RWBY fics is it being the only readable The Gamer fic I've found so far on the internet.

DeMistified (Percy Jackson) - C.S. Williams
Best AU of PJO I've found, but considering the fandom that's not saying much. Writing style remains similar to the original series I think.

Prison Half Blood (Percy Jackson) - pegasusdmac
AU where Half-Bloods are considered menaces. Interesting concept, but on further reading it looks like a Shawshank Redemption ripoff

If we're talking about just pure "Percabeth fluff", I would say the later works of MaydayParade8123 are not completely horrible. The plots are fairly bland and predictable, characters are bordering Mary Sue at times and it reads like a poor man's Nicholas Sparks (without the chance of a sad ending). The prose and descriptions are its strong point, and it can, on occasion, evoke some measure of emotion. Fair warning to all, there is no demigod action here, and its debatable whether these stories are even considered Percy Jackson without the mythological element.

There is a The Gamer/Naruto crossover that I found decent enought to recommend here:

    Naruto: The Gamer Files

Predictably, it's a canon rerash with Naruto posessing The Gamer's power. It's far from Ryuugi's as far as The Gamer fics are concerned, of course, but I have seem worse. If you need a The Gamer fix its very reccomended. The fast update rate is also a plus.

There was some change to what each stat do in order to fit with chakra, which might be a necessity, but the way it was handled wasn't very good. The inclusion of mundane equipment giving stat boosts wasn't good either, IMO.

Well, that story would be shit then, like the rest of his works. He's the one that wrote that shitty hyper sexualised fem Harry story, right?

Edit: Browsed through his fics quickly. Why would you be thankfull for him writing anything?

Nope, nope, nope. "shitty hyper sexualised" strictly speaking is true, but it is missing pedophilia apologism. And probably other awful things that I thankfully missed.

    Mass Effect/X-Com

    Don't think this one's been rec'ed yet.

I haven't read a Mass Effect crossover like this one before. The post Ethereal War humanity is pretty badass, but they realize that their tech (like relay independent FTL and gene mods) would be aggressively sought after and/or feared. So instead of making contact and joining the Citadel races, they decide to interact through covert ops so they can test the waters.

The story is told from the point of view of a rather ditsy, but not to the point of annoying, Asari. It's rather fun to read her reactions to different little bits of being human, like having hair and ears, and to seeing the rather intimidating tech X-Com possesses. But the really interesting part, for me at least, is reading about how her new human friends have decided to interfere with the status quo of one of the alien races.

Basically, Psi Effect is one of the few good X-Com/Mass Effect stories I've read. Give it a try.

    HTTYD:

    If This is It
So, I feel like I should explain from the get-go that is probably on the low end of -almost good, and high end of barely readable. If I had to rate it, it'd be somewhere around a low-end 3.

As to why, look no further than the summary:
Obvious warning signs, right? After all, it's a story that takes the idea of soulbonds seriously, something that I despise 99% of the time. Hell, the summary isn't even all that well written. However, something in the premise sparked my interest. I'd never before seen the idea of soulbonds used like this; where they are an established part of humanity, with heavy impact on their society and behavior and every day life. At least it interested me enough to open the story. In order to do that, you have to not look too critically at the premise and simply dub it retarded.

It did create some interesting stuff in the fic. It's not particularly well written but neither is it terrible. It tends to go on and on and repeat itself a lot, especially in Astrid PoV chapters, and I found myself skipping sometimes.

Hiccup's character is pretty great, imo, and has a fixation with puns which, I admit, had me laughing a few times. Astrid's isn't handled with the same level of care, and it shows.

Besides that, it's an AU Highschool fic. Some people may look no further than that, but I have found that HTTYD Highschool AUs can work, sometimes. Rarely, but it's happened before.

I have mixed feelings about this. I can't in good conscience call it great, but I found it somewhat decent. If you're a Hiccup/Astrid shipper, like drama, and HTTYD, give this a shot.

I wonder if I know the person who wrote this or if this was from some book or movie. Because I was in a student film about a year ago that had this exact premise. Yeah just skimmed through the first chapter and I'm getting some serious deja vu.

Maybe, but both the fanfic and my mates film were more similar to each other then they are to that film. This is far to weird.
