So I just started Divinity since you guys are raving.
I actually snorted when I got to this part:
A pitiful film of red raced over the water. DON’T BOTHER ME AGAIN FOR A WHILE, BRAT. I BARELY HAVE ENOUGH CHAKRA TO RETAIN MY FORM. ANY MORE, AND I WOULD BE FORCED TO ASSUME THE SHAPE OF A LESSER BEING.

“Like a human?” I supply brightly.

    NOT THAT LESSER, THANKFULLY.

“Okay, but if you ever do, make sure it’s a super hot woman. With red hair, and a hot bod, but with also tails, and maybe some ears, so you’re like a fox-girl. Who knows, people might stop despising you if they’re too caught up into wanting to bang you.”

ONE DAY I WILL KILL YOU.
I like this guy's sense of humor.

He's got a gift for taking what seem like fairly dumb plot bunnies and making them exceptionally interesting to read.

One of the more painful cliffie's I've come across in a while. Not to mention this Hiashi is probably the most baddass version I've come across, the whole vengeful vibe really made me hanker for just one more update :(

You know it's fics like Divinity that I enjoy most in the Naruto fandom.

It's not the best written, it doesn't have hardcore character development, a hard to predict plotline or an attempt to make the universe more developed and realistic. But damn it's fun and entertaining and easy to get into.

I'm not really sure why, but I didn't like divinity all that much. Something about it just never really truly engaged me. Plus theres the fact that its only like 1/15th of an actual story, and I found myself stopping with a chapter or two left.

I felt similarly when I read Wastelands of Time.

I looked arund a bit on the forum Divinity is stored, and came across this:

    Love Hina Loops

It doesn't really have an overarching plot, instead it's more like a series of loosely connected oneshots, that are more or less amusing, by different authors. It doesn't say who wrote them, but I can recognise some by Andrew Joshua Talon, since they're also on FFnet.
My favorite is probably a lovestruck Shinobu as a Bolo (futuristic tank).

The "Loop" fics is essentially a round robin thread on TFF that derived from, iirc, an Evangelion loop idea. It rapidly spread to other fandoms and out of control. All of them.

Some ideas and snippets were good. Others... often written only because "lol crack fic."

Couldn't get into it at all. :-\

Some were very mildly amusing at best, all were terribly written.

    Title: Overlady
    Author: EarthScorpion
    Fandom: Familiar of Zero/Overlord
    Link: Here
Summary: "A new overlady, you say? She's a little short and flat-chested, although her temper is impressively vile. Oh well. Needs must when needs must. Too long have the lands of Halkeginia gone without true Evil. There are fluffy bunnies and happy ponies all over the place, frollicing! It makes me quite sick! No, it doesn't matter if she wants to or not. Because Evil always finds a way."

I quite enjoyed this one. It's a humor fic bordering on crackish (and does occasionally cross over into that territory) but it's quite well written and did make me laugh. What I really like though is the idea behind it; one which I haven't seen done that's been even marginally readable. Louise fails to summon a familiar and runs away from school, stumbling across the dark tower and becomes the Overlady. In the meantime events play out quite differently for Tristania without Louise there, and not for the better. So she dons the mantle of Evil and tries to free her country from the clutches of the corrupt and treasonous.

Honestly, if it was done in a more serious tone I'd put it up for review. 3/5 as is.

Does anyone know of other decent FoZ fics where Louise doesn't get a familiar and becomes a merc/adventurer or something along those lines?

Earthscorpion's other FoZ crossover has Louise failing the summon and end up becoming one of the Green Sun Princes from Exalted. Since the neomah is incorporated into her as part of the Exaltation process, it doesn't count as a familiar in either the FoZ or the Exalted sense.

Overlady is good story, I follow it for some time. Those who likes FoZ or Overlord should try it.

I'd actually say that Earthscorpion's works are Library worthy; my only real issue with Overlady is that there are points where he runs too far with jokes or just tries too hard to be Pratchett. Still a damn fine read

I think Overlady is Library-worthy. It's not without its flaws, but it's good enough to make the cut, imo.

I out off reading it for weeks because "Zero's Overlord" was such a terrible fic, but hey, this was actually very good. A unique fic in a fandom that is basically full of almost identical storylines.

I had always thought the idea of Louise running away from school/home due to not summoning anything would be a pretty cool premise for a story. I'd love to see it done seriously as well.

As for it being library material, not really sure (and by that I really mean I'm not sure). On one hand, it's unique and well written, but on the other I don't think I quite enjoyed it enough.

    Testing waters in here again.

Traveler is a pretty good Pokemon fic. I suppose the thing that I enjoy most is the unusual set of pokemon Ash has, at least in the fics I've read. I admit though, I almost turned away when he got the starter he did.

Something that I think you'll enjoy is that like in The Game of Champions, pokemon are primarily monsters and there are a couple of occasions where Ash is nearly killed.

Jessie, James and Meowth are also there, but they're following another trainer with a Jolteon instead Ash contends with a Team Rocket executive and he is in no way, shape or form comic relief.

It's definitely almost recommendable. It's kind of like GoC, except written by a 4th grader. It reads very blandly, and the author gets too bogged down in the technicalities, like how to teach a pokemon a move and things like that.

    Still a pretty good time-waster.

I've been following Traveler for a few months. Yeah, technically speaking, the writing isn't anything impressive, around 3/5, but I think the content makes up for it. It had a little rough and boring start, but once Ash ditched his traveling companions, it got loads better.

There's a sort of intense realism there, about the world and the way Ash has changed, traveling the dangerous wilderness alone with only a bunch of lethal monsters for company. It's dangerous, and sometimes reminds me of Sun Soul. Pokemon are definitely more than just cute pets or mindless battlers. Ash has a unique bond with all of his Pokemon, and it shows.

It also certainly helps that Ash has a very unique team - no standard Pokemon at all, except for Pidgeot. And the updates are very long :D

Yeah, I recommend any Pokemon fans to check it out.
