You're maybe thinking of the first episode with 'Pusher' Modell. The guy hypnotizes the officer holding him by going off on Cerulean Blue until he ends up plowed by another vehicle- he couldn't see the truck because it was blue.

 

I am very much sick of "the raven" as an epithet for Harry.

"The raven said..."
"The raven watched them..."

It gets extraordinarily painful when it occurs 30-40 times a chapter, especially when seen in conjunction with overuse of the descriptor "emerald" for Harry's eyes.

I gave up on reading that particular fic because those two stylistic features were too grating.

 

That's the one. Must have been a novelisation.

 

Pouring everything he could into the spell, Harry (did something "impossible"), and then (became unconscious).

I forget which, but there is a fanfiction out there, where Harry succumbs to darkness, lets the darkness claim him, etc etc... in almost every single chapter.

 

For you see, Harry Potter is a wizard.

This becomes even worse if its preceded by a paragraph or two recapping books 1-x
