Sadly, Widow just does too much damage with too much escape.

She can oneshot Tracer with a full powershot... anywhere. Same with Zenyatta iirc.

With a headshot, she does even more damage.

If she's remotely good, you can't flank her because she'll know youre coming with a widowmine, and her grapple hook is just too fast to catch her. Her machine gun also does more damage then Tracer(!!), but less overall dps.

Her ultimate is one of the strongest in game, and has one of the shortest CDs. It also does not get announced anywhere near as loudly as everyone elses. In fact, you have to be nearby her to hear it usually.

The pro's consider her the most unbalanced player at the moment, and in a game that has McCree, that's sayin something.

The only change that makes sense is limiting Widow's ult so only she sees everyone. Otherwise you run into the problem of nerfing snipers: They become useless.

A great example is the Sniper from TF2. He was nerfed to be "equal" with the other classes and ended up being worthless; even perfect sniper play had minimal impact on the outcome of the game.

Sniper is traditionally in the top tier of skill classes in these games. Recon/Scout (closest is Tracer and Genji, probably) was number 2.

 

Just drop the length of her ult to like 8 seconds.

I had a great game with Bastion last night. We were attacking on R66, and everyone went as Bastion. We got a team-kill quite quickly, and then all just parked on the payload, and went sentry.

That said, I hate Bastion when he's on the other team. Especially backed by a Torbjorn.

He's boring to play against, because he parks and just holds down fire. But playing as, with careful placing you don't tend to lose. And I've seen so many people quit just before losing, I can only assume they want to retain a high winning percentage.

 

Dude, he's played 65 hours of Bastion, virtually exclusively. What's the point of Overwatch, then?

 

I understand that people hate Bastion and all, but.. I mean, he has fun playing Bastion. That's the point of playing Overwatch.

 

Also, as someone pointed out in the Reddit thread, maybe it's all he's capable of?

I saw a post somewhere (r/bestof?) where some guy wrote an open letter to Blizzard thanking them, because this was the first FPS he was able to play, as he only had one hand, or something.

I'm not getting into this debate again, but I'll say I disagree.

 

I do and do not understand the hate for Bastion. He is powerful yes, but for me only in pugs, and even then... there are much more annoying heroes imo. He can be a prick, but usually that's only in pugs where people can't work together to take him down, and he is only a pain in pugs when supported by the team. By himself Bastion is extremely squishy. When in pugs with people who can't group up and bastion is supported by his team than yeah he is the most annoying hero because of the low skill required to be effective.

I finally came across my first gg Widowmaker today after closing in on level ninety. I couldn't move without getting a shot to the head, was very humbling. Still coming across only one gg Widowmaker in roughly three and a half days playtime isn't a bad ratio. In saying that we still won the offense map even with their gg widowmaker.

Interesting take on bastions. Makes you appreciate how even a simple thing like gaming can be taken for granted.

 

I too have played only Bastion (basically) in Overwatch. He's very fun if you like waiting somewhere, waiting to kill someone, but feel like the other classes that do that aren't fun to play (thorbjorn or w/e) or are extremely powerful with no appreciable weaknesses (widow/hanzo). I rarely felt like (as Bastion) I was killing someone before they had time to react, and could feel the difference when I advanced in skill at using the recon mode to press objectives with my team. Switching to sentry let my team 'fall back and regroup' as long as you don't care about your accuracy score, but i'm a big fan of suppressive fire.

 

Whenever I hear people complaining about Bastion, Widow or McCree being OP, I laugh as I remember this.
