If you're playing comp, then yeah expect massive metagaming. That's just the nature of the beast in a game with defined character skillsets. Doesn't matter if it's Overwatch, League, <insert MMORPG here>...

The way I look at it is this: If you're fucking up in ranked play/endgame content on an online game it's helpful to remember that you're fucking shit up from anywhere from 3 (Light MMO Parties) to 23+ other people.

Overwatch is more forgiving in that regard because 90% of the reason someone keeps dying is because they suck. Say, repeatedly jump-charge Reaper as Winston and getting crushed into powder. Instead of picking Winston in a game with Reaper and just avoiding 1v1s with the Reaper. That's one I see a lot of.

 

Had a game last night that legit made me wish for age brackets in comp.

Sudden Death on 66. Defense. One of my team picked Pharrah (I'm dubious, the other team had a really good Zen and a McCree).

I day 'I'm not sure about Pharrah. Maybe pick something you know you're harder to kill on, like something tankier. We lose anyone, we just lose the game.'

Naturally the kid 'allays' my concerns with a 'trust'. I'm hoping he's one of those godlike Pharrahs and I'm worried for nothing.

He dies instantly.

As Pharrah.

To Reaper.

TWICE.

I thought I was salty after that. I had to listen to his squeaky voice rage about Pharrah win rates (which I'm hugely dubious about post patch in a dva/zen dominated meta), about how we already had two tanks (i said tankier/ harder to kill, not tank) and how it was everyone else's fault for not protecting him (i Zarya bubbled him the first time. So he died to a REAPER through a ZARYA BUBBLE).

God, it's so much worse when the toxic little shits use voice comms...

 

What kills Pharrah in the new meta is McCree. He also kills S76. Hitscan high damage from midrange=Pharrah dead in the air with no prob.

Dying to Reaper though is something that should never ever happen as pharrah 0.o

Pharah is still viable in this meta with a pocket Mercy. The thing is, the person playing Pharah better be damn good with her, otherwise it's a guaranteed loss, since you're using one of your healers exclusively on her.

I've so far seen two major teams that still use Pharmacy combo from time to time with success: Cloud 9 and Envyus.

It's a hell of a risk though, so most teams opt for the safer Zen and other dps pick instead.

 

I only disagree because zen and mccree are so prevalent. If Zen isn't an idiot, Pharrah is instantly discorded, which is a 1 shot with Peacemaker headshot, 2-shot with body shots...

I just got an email that is saying that I'm one of the best players in my country and I could represent at the World cup rofl.

It seems kind of cool as an experience tbh but I imagine that the requirements will prevent a lot of players. You have to available to go to the states for 10 days and qualifiers are 14 days long. But you get free public speaking training which is cool.

 

Oh for sure. If the opposing McCree goes on a tear, you can easily get chased off Pharah.

It really comes down to whether or not the McCree can land the headshots vs. whether or not Pharah can land the directs.

Basically, if you decide to invest in Pharah, you're gambling on your Pharah being better than the opposing McCree.

Not worth the risk in most cases unless you're supremely confident in your Pharah play or you know the opponent won't be running a McCree and/or isn't better than you.
