Due to unforeseen circumstances, I've found myself living at my parents for the last week. I've borrowed my father's computer, which happens to be much much better than my current (read I get 8 to 12 FPS on my laptop in intense fight and he gets 70).

I literally made my way from 1800 to 2250 in four days, mostly solo queue, but also some duo with my brother. My stats were through the roof (i.e. I averaged 12 killed with any kind of DPS on my laptop, now my averaged went up to 26+) and I even managed to play a couple of games as Widowmaker on attack and be actually relevant (read Gold on kills, and easy first point capture because of said kills).

All in all, I've come to the conclusion that I am not as bad as I thought...but I do need a new computer. Christmas is going to be expensive! :'(

 

Enjoying the new arcade modes; been playing 1v1 in particular. Wish that there was a bit more incentive to play less passively and instead actually have to engage the other person. Most of the fights boil down to whoever is more patient with their positioning. Maybe some kind of BR-esque shrinking ring?

Also wish there was matchmaking in the smaller arcade modes as well (though queue times can sometimes already be bad...). Finished 4144 S2, and I keep getting matched against 2500-3500s and feeling bad about it. Pretty unfair for them!

 

The new map is on the PTR now. Have to still download the PTR and probably get through the queue but new content!

 

I'm really waiting for the 1v1 to come to custom mode. I can't bealive that wasn't in there at the start. The ability to give my buddies rage inducing zenatta charges around a corner is to good to wait for

Epic: Pharrah, Reaper, Sombra (could have not been WW. I've nothing from her. Think it was though), and an awesome Widow POTG, lol...

I think that's just about everything? I didn't have time to check. Got some other things like Mei emote and such too. Is there maybe a McCree one? Saw him on the loading screen.

 

McCree has a Scrooge skin, although I've not seen it in game yet. Winston has a great looking skin as a yeti that I really want, same with Zen and Roadhog. I'm not a fan of the Mei skin, but I don't hate it. Imgur album HERE of all the skins.

New snowball fight mode is quite good, although it's nowhere near as good as Junkenstein was. I do like the narrator, really want something like that across game modes.

Symmetra rework is REALLY good. She's still not the best on attack, but the moving shield, faster turrets, and shield generator are good kit. Doesn't change the fact she shouldn't be support.

Auto-grouping at the end of matches is pretty cool. And apparently 1v1 and 3v3 are in custom game mode now.

 

Bought the Zen skin with credits. Got POTG. Was suitably horrifying. Worth.

 

I got the Mei skin in the first bonus pack, and I've since gotten the Blucio skin in another. Two mates I've been playing with have gotten jack shit. Praise RNGesus.

 

I got the legendary Zarya emote I didn't know was in the game ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

 

I've got Blucio and a few sprays, going to keep on going till I get me that Yeti Winston skin.

 

New Overwatch comic is out, showing some Christmas goodness. Pretty good all around. Tracer and her girlfriend are cute, that photo of Reinhardt is just heartwarming and it was interesting to see where everyone is at this time of the year, like Reaper and Widowmaker seeking out the loved ones of their old lives.

 

Is that Genji writing a letter to Mercy I see? rip Pharmercy.

 

How did you get that he was writing Mercy?

edit: ah, because he was writing a letter and Mercy receiving one? Dunno, could be. Thought those snippets were roughly at the same time, would be weird if Genji and Zenyatta were shown like 2 weeks before the rest. Could be writing Mercy, may or may not be romantic, might have written a family member, a friend, a loved one that isn't an active Overwatch member.

Main reason I think they are writing to each other is writing with a feather on his panel and Mercy has a feather on her panel.

Also apparently the guy behind all the stories ships Genji/Mercy so Pharmercy never had a chance ;_;

These holiday comics are kind of a let down. The other comics told us a lot more about the characters and their motivations, these seem to just be fluff. I suppose they are better than nothing but i'd prefer another comic where we get more insight into how the world of Overwatch works instead of goofy character beats.
