The laughter is too loud, and too deep to be coming from a normal person. You can tell that it's coming from something very, very large.

 

"Enough!" I whisper sharply. "Clearly rage will get us nowhere. No one will be waiting for the axe to drop; at least, I certainly won't. But rage and impulsive actions will get us beaten, and I would quite prefer to avoid that. Let's take an inventory of our abilities, and work from there."

I hadn't thought the gag would fall out, and what I had still thought of as the gag was simply my own swollen mouth. What a fool!

Working my mouth to relieve the pain, I say "Perhaps I was hasty in my plan, allow me a moment to commune with greater beings and I will surely find a way out of this!"

I close my eyes, and search my mind for a spell that might help us. Despite my words, I know of no way to contact any god.
