A hummingbird.

Her fallback- the one thing that always makes her feel loved, was the absolute admiration of her little sister- not for her beauty, although Gaby would acknowledge it at times. Mostly Fleur felt admiration from her sister for her surety and skill.

Her darkest moment was when she realized she wouldn't be able to save Gabrielle during the second task, even if she knew the girl wasn't really at risk. Gabrielle was saved by Harry and afterwards her sister didn't hate her for failing, instead reminding her that she was Gabrielle's hero, too.

So when she summons the Patronus, it's Gabrielle's undiminished love that fuels her defense. Her little bird.

Not canon, of course. Just a notion.

 

What kind of stupid, sappy crap is . . . ah damn, I actually like it. In fact, playing out different scenes in my head, it actually looks like it'd work quite well. Not only do you have what's written above, but also the delicacy of the bird mimicking the delicacy of Fleur, yet both of which being more hearty than first meets the eye.

 

Am I a terrible person for having just written this? Wondering where/whether to post it.
