I've moved and renamed tons of crap, so pay attention to where things are going, as I'm going to come down hard on folks who disregard the newer cats I made.

We'll be watching to see what works better and tweaking. You now have an AU section, eventually things will get sorted out.

Additionally the number of sub forums we had was overwhelming, I've sliced that down quite a bit, and it may go down even further shortly as I work on it. We'll see.

I'd appreciate someone taking the time to list all the way AU fics on the site for me so we don't have to sort through each one, just the bit I've done tonight has taken me quite awhile.

I like the new layout... Please keep the poetry section around though, it adds some flavor to the forum.

The new amount of sub-cats looks good to me. I mean you could bring it down further... But that would increase the thread volume per sub-cat to a fairly high level. And there is nothing more annoying than sorting through 20 pages of threads.

New Layout: 8.5/10 (Will probably go higher once I see how the AU Section works out)

Previous layout: 8.0 (There were quite a few sub-forums... Some of which needed to go/get merged)

I definitely appreciate the new AU section. As that is my favorite category this will definitely help me find fics I like more efficiently.

make sure to take a minute and list the Au ones, I've spent quite awhile now browsing fics and moving them around, any help is appreciated.

Poetry will be left seperate, merging it into Life outside would just cause them all to get lost in the shuffle.

I may merge another one or two, but I like the way it's looking atm. Not as much scrolling, but still keeping a managable amount of pages per sub-cat.

I think the last one I'll do is Relationships with General, there's posts in there that get bumped once every other month, from early 2005, and always by newbies, heh

New layout seems very good at first sight, better than the old one.

The only thing that could be problematic is "Heir of" part in AU section. Since many Independant and Dark stories have Harry becoming the heir of at least Black and usually several founders and/or famous wizards on top of it, there could be overlapping when deciding where to put stories like that. I suggest removing that part from description, or specifying that the Harry in these stories is supposed to be young (0-13 years) and/or adopted by said family (thus creating AU) - compared to being 14-15 and learning about this from Goblins (like in standard Dark/Independant stories).

Other than that, new layout seems great. Good job on reorganizing the site!

EDIT: Just for curiosity's sake - what spurred that warning about Plagiarism? I don't remember there being some conflict on DLP regarding that (at least to my recollection).

Aye, but if it's a minor part of the story, "Heir of" generally fits in another section.

If it's a huge part of the story, it'll belong in there, unless he's one of the other classifications. It's just a case of picking the best cat for it to go. Eventually I'll reclass everything in General if possible and abolish that as well.

    I’m also curious bout that…

The way I took the ‘Heir of…’ part was that if he became the heir at a young age, thus changing the canon significantly then it goes there, if not then it doesn’t. I’m trying to think of a nice short way to reword that to make it clearer but I can’t seem to think of any at the moment. Hopefully it won’t become too much of a problem…(famous last words if I’ve ever heard them)

Tobang, that explanation is applicable as well.

The plagerism stuff was always there, it's a direct copy/paste from something Zev tossed when he and Raven did the other rules, I just deleted the single post it was contained in and combined them all.

To give a better idea of the shrinkage, we used to have 37 subforums, I've dropped it to 24 with minimal crowding and next to no deletions other then very old large threads that were due to go anyway, maybe dropped to 23.

    comparison http://darklordpotter.net/vBnew/index.php
    vs

    I'm very happy =)
