Seriously NBM. This rocks. I'd be so down to play prob through PbP. Timezone and all would make thing difficult through skype since you live in Europe I believe?

And I'm definitely going to try and get someone to play that with me. I'll let you know how it works out.

    Well thanks, appreciated.

Yeah, PbP would be the most sensible option I think. I'll see if there's any other interest and then maybe try to put a game together.

Do let me know if you play it though. Feedback would be really appreciated.

    Not entirely surprising, but...

In our current Pathfinder campaign, we recently got stuck in a 'Bermuda Triangle'-esque event on our appropriated pirate ship. We were surrounded by a fog, and the water over the side was displaying perfect reflections. Our Construct in a baffling move, tied a rope securely to the ship and himself and swung into the water with the Vanaran(Monkey person) holding onto him, then fell 50 feet from the ski to break through the main deck into the hold(he weighed around 400 pounds). He got lucky, and rolled multiple 1's for his damage, and only took 15. The Vanaran that was on his back, rolled a 20 for Acrobatics, and jumped off him to grab some rigging as the other guy fell.

Then, we proceeded to attempt multiple methods of discerning the phenomena. Our Inquisitor used his Orison to summon water over the side, but that never fell back. Dropping an apple over the edge, had it fall from the sky like the other people did. Our Half-Orc tried to lean over the edge, and throw an apple straight up... and it shot out of the water and beaned him in the back of the head(for negligible damage roll of 1). The Vanaran decided to jump off the crows nest, for some ungodly reason... multiple times. Kept getting lucky rolls to grab the rigging as he fell back onto the ship, but he did see something while he was out there.

The mist only extended a modest ways out from our boat, and there was another, smaller boat, just outside of the fog in front of us, with a lantern shining a bright candle hanging over the edge. On another jump, he can visibly see that it is a female, that is trying to speak to us and get our attention. The Vanaran and Construct decide to do a Fastball Special kind of maneuver, and throw the Vanaran towards where the boat is. It turns out poorly.

At high speed, the Vanaran proceeds to fly into the back of our ship, then fall into the water, and drop from above to land by the wheel(Myself and the Oracle both fail checks to try and catch him >_>). He is able to diminish his damage taken by a little bit, but otherwise loses most of his life.

In another stroke of thought, the Construct attaches a rope to his crossbow and fires it toward the direction of the other ship(we can't see it)... and it thunks home! Now this is where things get a little dicey for the state of our party. The Vanaran has +11 Acrobatics, and rolls two 9+11's, and manages to cross the rope. Not wanting him to either twist things to only his own gain, or flub diplomacy(I know he might do something like that intentionally), and since I have a +12, and roll a 20+12, and 14+12, getting over myself. Although apparently it wasn't entirely my rolls, as I find out later after our Half-Orc a little bit later rolls a 13+7 and 18+7, but apparently fails to cross.(ignoring the fact that both the Vanaran and I weigh significantly less than he does)

Okay, so here, the GM makes a separate skype call, having someone else host the old one, and for good reason. Unfortunately, the other people apparently get anxious about things, and 'not having contact with the GM', even though not a single one of them tried to skype message him. Either way, the Half-Orc apparently ended up trying to cross the rope(as mentioned earlier) because the Construct convinced him to bring a make-shift explosive over to it since we were missing for a little while(~10 minutes).

Anyway, other call. As it turns out, the female on the boat is a manifestation(?) of Besmara, Goddess/Queen of the Pirates, or something like that. Of which the Vanaran has her as his deity as well. Me, I just got some excellent rolls, and I'm wearing the fairly awesome Pirate Hat that was worn by the now-late Captain of the ship we are using. Long story short, she questions how a local sailor, and one of her followers, such as himself would be stymied by the 'Silent Fog', when our ship already has the tools to let us pass(special candles in a chest in the Captain's cabin). Then she tosses him a coin and recommends we stop over at the light house not far ahead of us in our journey around the peninsula. After which, she says that she will be watching us, gives a throaty laugh/cackle and walks away from us as we rematerialized back on the deck of our ship.

When immediately questioned, we say that it is not our place to reveal what occurred, but that we know how to escape this fog. Most of the people are not entirely pleased with that response, but willing to accept it to get out of the fog(it has been several hours!), except the Construct. He threatens to shoot the cannon at where the other ship is if we don't tell him. Of course, everyone points out that, chances are, the cannon shot might just fly into our own ship, and if things go really poorly, he'll just end up sinking and killing himself since he can't handle water. In the end, despite an extremely bad intimidation check match-up by our Inquisitor versus the Construct(14 to 30), he decides it's not in his interests to be suicidal at the very least. Well, and we would have stopped him by force, if necessary, but it didn't get brought up.

So, we set up some candles, light them, and clear the fog. The Construct immediately says that he shoots the other ship, to which the GM just replies: "What ship?"
    "The ship ahead of us."
    "I repeat. What ship?"
He grumbles a bit, but accepts it, except now he's more curious about what we encountered, although nobody is as curious as the Half-Orc. Who keeps sending me skype messages to tell him about it. "I won't say anything, I just really want to know!"
    Psh...

Apparently everyone wants to go in the light house when we get there, so we all row over in a few trips on a row boat, with my lovely Camel left behind to guard the ship(thankfully, it doesn't become an issue). The Half-Orc and Construct can't seem to open the door of the lighthouse, but the Vanaran just reaches over and opens it without any visible effort. Presumably related to the coin he received. Nobody notices anything special on the first level, so the Half-Orc, Construct and I go to the second level where the light itself is. For some reason, like with the statue from the temple, the Construct decides he wants to take the fog light from the light house and bring it back to our ship. Not sure why, but I decide to help them detach it and lower it to the main level via ropes.

That's about where we stopped for the time being, due to some people needing to stop.

    -----

So, ignoring the fact that none of them actually tried to contact the GM, so their fuss was at least partially unwarranted, what are other peoples' thoughts on separating the conversation when things are more like an 'around the table' experience, like a Skype call is? With everyone normally listening in on one call. In this circumstance, two characters were explicitly separated from the party, and the GM wanted to speak for the NPC in a conversation with out characters, rather than merely type it out for the two of us only in a separate chat.

Spots are available to anyone who is willing to source their own copy of the book. It was $19.99 for the PDF on RPGNow when I bought it, and trust me it's a fucking steal. The Cortex system is awesome and the book is similarly awesome for anyone who likes Firefly, there's a bunch of fun semi-canon trivia.

I'm still making my first read-through of the core rules, but the moment I'm done I'll make a thread.

I'd like to do that, but I'm not sure I'd have the time nor the inclination to post regularly (big problem I have with the PbP). Good luck with your game guys and let us know how it cool it is!

I started GMing my first campaign about a week ago with some friends. It's a superhero campaign using Savage Worlds, with a custom setting that has a lot of the elements of Worm that I liked, though with some stuff taken from other sources here and there mixed with some original content. We've only done one and a half sessions (had to cut the last one early for reasons) and we've mostly been getting used to the system and making adjustments and stuff, but it's been fun so far.

It's kind of cool to actually do something with things I write for once.

I'm crossposting this from The Witcher thread:

I have a key to the closed multiplayer beta of The Witcher: Adventure Game!

    Who wants? PM me.

Note: This is an online tabletop boardgame; not the typical Witcher you're all used to.

    edit: The key's been claimed.

I'm very excited to soon be getting my copy of the new 5e D&D PHB. I just wish the other books would arrive faster, and won't be spaced apart.
