Hm... Call me strange, but I just can't seem to get into the writing. The first arc, People Lie, was quite good, but much like Syaoran, I was inexplicably turned off by the writing thereafter. I'm disappointed, because I was actually enjoying this, but it just felt to me as though it ceased being a Naruto story. Random supernatural being attacks them, and throws everyone wildly OC!, while Naruto discovers that he can make his friends Kyuubi!Vassals, giving them power. It just stopped being a Naruto fic in my opinion. There was nothing recognizable about any of the characters, and as far as I can remember, no real reason for Naruto to change so much.

The author has freely admitted, both on forums and his ANs, that the second arc was a lower quality than the previous one.

The third arc makes up for this quite a bit, I still lol every time Sakura comes up in this fic.

It updated again, though it was mostly a filler chapter. It's going interesting to see what the ANBU have been training Naruto and co. for, especially since I think they're heading to Water Country to stage an 'invasion'.

Still, just think of the possibilities an army made entirely of chakra could do when wielded by a man with unlimited chakra? Fucking epic. Also, humourless ANBU are unintentionally hilarious.

Also also, I still laugh at the line on his Author's Profile every time I see it:

Army of Chakra has been done before, in various fics that I can probably list off the top of my head, but can he do it in a way that has never been done before? That will be the real test, so far he hasn't failed in his originality but I wonder how long he can keep this up.

I actually read pretty much this whole chapter on the Hawk's Fanfiction forum, I am too damned impatient to wait for a formal update.

Still its all Fun and Games until someone Loses a Soul, have you seen the poster he has for it? With Naruko? I am not making fun of whoever drew that but, seriously? There is something messed up with Naruko's lips, but I probably can't do any better.

Anyway awesome update as usual, Ino is a bitch as ever, but at least they got to poke fun of her this whole chapter, and Naruto hasn't marked anyone yet, that made me sad.

It's not the lips that get me, just that the whole head is off to one side by half an inch, making it look like her spine goes up to her ear >_>. Still, the Elder Sign Seal is awesome.

True, though overall she looked like a hooker. I mean there is a difference between looking hot, and looking like a prostitute. Would have been better to leave her cute than what I had to see, it ruined my whole mental image of her.

I couldn't get into this either, I really couldn't. To me, it sort of started branching out slowly toward the realm of "Second Chances"- although not to that extent...yet. Plus, I just didn't like the way Naruto was written.

    Eh.

I am starting to loose interest, which is sad because I was one of his biggest supporters.

I really like this fic, it takes all characters and basically turns them into (somewhat) more realistic and more interesting people. realistic because they are people who are trained to fight and to kill and spend a really long time doing just that and as such it seemed plausible that everyone would develop some quirks in order to deal with this kind of lifestyle.

Also Nugar managed to write the most badass Chouji and that by making eating potato chips, if that isn'T great writing I don't know what is.

The only problem I had with this story was the fact that Sakura got marked too and that it will probably boil down to Sasuke Sakura, which I had hoped would be absent in this story, but who knows, the author has a way of writing the unexpected.

I lost interest of this piece quite a bit ago. Now it seems like Nugar is writing just to write. Not to finish the story. I don't really see anything going anywhere.

I still like it, and will definitely follow it, but about the time of the Secret ANBU army training thing, I sort of feel like the story changed. It doesn't read the same after that point. /:

It still retains that epic feeling that so many other stories lack.

People Lie was discontinued earlier this month. Nugar lost interest. lol

He's 'restarted' the story in a 'sequel' where Team Lie goes back into the past inexplicably:

I don't care for it, it's of lower quality than people lie, but some others may enjoy it.

I truly enjoyed all of People Lie, and I was readily looking forward to more. To say I am disappointed is an understatement.

Edit: I went ahead and read the new thing. It was amusing but will probably run out of steam soon. A damn shame, since Nugar is one of my favorite authors.

Actually, they go into an alternate* universe where there's no, y'know, shoggoths or anything, which is pretty much because he lost track of the plot in People Lie and just kept on trucking with character alchemy.

    I'm still enjoying it immensely.

    *Actually the canon Naruto universe.

As am I. It's pretty funny how Kakashi is exactly the same in the two worlds.

I suspect this one will run out of gas before it hits the chuunin exams, though. The shock of sending them back and having them freak-out/pwn everyone is going to get old without something fresh presenting itself.

The biggest problem I see with this damn thing is that he tries to hard to be ninja.

EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE AND EVERYWORLD HAS HIDDEN MEANNING!!!! DID YOU FIND MEANING? DID youuu!?!?! NO? YOUR DOING IT WRONG.

"“You see,” Naruto interjected once more as their presentation wound towards a conclusion, “you told us that this test was no complicated, and all we had to do was display good teamwork as we fought you. Even if we had managed to wear you down enough to grab the bells, you would have failed us, and rightfully so. There is no such thing as a ‘simple’ mission. Never allow the enemy to dictate the rules. Never follow any rules for longer than it is an advantage to do so. Always look underneath the underneath.” He paced back and forth, gesturing expansively and enjoying the attention on himself. “You’re too good of a ninja for us to have a real handle on you. We know you would sacrifice your porn in a heartbeat if it was worth it, because you are an intelligent person. But we are prepared to make it more troublesome for you to fail us than it is to pass us and take us as your team. Because you are an intelligent person, and you can see that.”"

That made me rage with the stupid.

I think you missed the point there. It's pointed out by other characters that he tries too hard to be a ninja. He's been trained to think that everything has a hidden meaning, and that's a major point for most of the series.

That said, I don't see anything wrong that paragraph. Aside from the assumption that this Kakashi would be the same as the other (reasonable, seeing as how he's acting similar), the logic fits.
