RAGE. SO MUCH OF IT. NOT EVEN CONTAINED. JUST OUT THERE. And it's turquoise.

    EDIT: I really don't like Phoenix!Hedwig.

I think it's probably because people want to both make Harry cooler and to make it so that, in their story, Hedwig would have lived through to see Harry's 17th birthday.

Or they just want to make him seem like Dumbledore.

The thing that annoys me most about Hedwig the Phoenix is that, somehow, either Hedwig turns telepathic and can speak English, or Harry randomly gains the ability to talk to birds, just so that Hedwig plays an actual part after becoming a phoenix. Usually by revealing crucial information/ forgotten spells that means Harry can WTFPWN everybody he meets.

Forget phoenix Hedwig, one that understands everything Harry says is bad enough. It's a bloody bird, not an animagus like a few authors have portrayed.

Maybe magical birds are slightly smarter than regular ones. But there's a huge difference between slightly smart bird and understanding everything a guy says and acting like a woman on her time of the month.

Unless a familiar bond creates a magic connection with some feedback subconsciously. Something Dumbledore+Fawkes or the known Squibs+their Kneazels seem to have had.

Is that even canon? I always thought that was purely fanon...

There is no such thing as a familiar bond in canon. There isn't even a mention of the word "familiar" in that context.

Canon is that there is some kind of communication between the Squibs and their Kneazels and how do you explain Fawkes taking the AK in the ministry just at the right moment? Divination?

    MAGIC!

It's the same sort of thing as Fawkes appearing in the Chamber of Secrets to help Harry. Maybe it's a phoenix thing, or maybe Fawkes is just special like that. Either way, the familiar bit is tenuous at best in canon.

    Where?

But anything that has Harry talking to any animal other than snakes is pretty much instant fail. Doubly so if it uses the words familiar bond.

Your only evidence is that Filch has some sort of understanding with his cat? I wouldn't exactly call that canon evidence for communication between squibs and kneazles, I thought you meant it had been word of god'ed somewhere. I always thought that was just down to him having the cat, which isn't a kneazle anyway, for a long time.

How about reviewers who rage at you for their own failing as a reader?

    That's always annoying.

More evidence for squibs who talks to cats lies within book five if I remember things right. Arabella Figg uses her cats to keep an eye on Harry when Mundugus leaves to pick up cauldrons.

Fics that have Omakes, they're not necessary in fanfic. Ever!
