Obviously the green-eyed fan art is an attempt to make her look more like Lily, which is just wrong.

When in doubt, always, always blame the movies.

McGonagall having red hair instead of black? Blame the movies.

Exceedingly Evil and Manipulative Dumbledore? Blame the movies.

Terrible Harry/Snape slash? Blame the movies.

ALWAYS blame the movies. Even when it doesn't make sense.

    Except not really.

    FUCK EVERYTHING

I mean, I know that Radcliffe didn't wear contacts because apparently he had some bad reaction to them, but couldn't they CGI those? I mean, they used CGI to take out Fleur's cameltoe in GoF, but not giving the main character the eyes that he's rather notable for? It baffles the mind.

God, I hated the films, because after Chamber of Secrets, it just seemed to turn into muggles with wands, rather than witches and wizards. Look at all these colours.

Whoever was in charge of costumes/clothes for the films should have been shot, hanged and drowned, preferably all three at once.

At least Jason Isaacs made them dress up Lucius Malfoy in a fitting manner, considering they initially wanted to have him wear muggle business suits.

I still can't quite understand what made them think this was a good idea.

And would anyone honestly think that and this was at Hogwarts? I could understand the muggleborns and some halfbloods wearing muggle stuff outside of the classes, but not everyone else along with it.

I hated the clothing in movies as well.

Wizards in movies apparently all dress like Muggles. What the fuck, even Draco Malfoy has a muggle suit. There's no way he would wear one in the books.

In my personal head-canon, this is how real Wizard Robes look like:

The movies ruined everything. I want to see wizards and witches and magic, not muggle businessmen dipshits.

    Wizard wearing ties, fucking bullshit.

It was quite annoying to see Dumbledore dressed in rather plain colours, even at the Yule Ball.

And whatever happened to "We're nearing Hogwarts, students, please change into your school robes"? Because this most certainly ain't it.

Then again, that image is from OotP, where Apparation was made to look like white and black mist trailing through the air, almost giving someone an impression it was more of a flying ability, something extraordinarily rare, rather than instant teleportation.

I shouldn't click on any summary that uses the phrase, "A certain..." It never ends well.

    "A certain Savior..."

"The Cullens are surprised when a strange man comes and asks them to join a certain Order, enroll in a certain school and help protect a certain boy!"

"Set after the death of Sirius Black, Harry Potter begins to notice more and more that certain things, certain people aren't who he believes, as the cracks begin to show."

What about a certain bushy-haired witch? Or a certain redheaded jealous prat? Or a certain lonely, beautiful (redundancy ahoy!) Veela? In the end, it all comes down to a certain raven-haired, green-eyed wizard.

Those who write summaries like that deserve summary execution.

I was really disappointed by the eye colors too and also wondered why they couldn't CGI it. Also, as to his mum's eyes not being green in the movie, I like to pretend that she turned them green via Transfiguration later, just so that I don't go into fits.

I was annoyed by the abundance Muggle clothing too, especially during the Yule Ball. The only robes I liked then were Ron's because they were actually halfway credible! I mean, I could come up with excuses as to why Muggle fashion was the rage (Harry Potter is the popular kid and he wears Muggle clothing), but this wouldn't explain why his arch-nemesis was wearing Muggle clohting. Argh.

Didn't Harry pretty much wear Dudley's castoffs throughout much of his Hogwarts years? In the films, aside from the first and second film, he's pretty much dressed in regular stuff that's brand new and actually fits him.

Ah, well, I wonder what the films might have been like had Del Toro accepted to direct PoA and HBP. Sadly, they conflicted, at their respective times, with his work on Hellboy 1 and 2.

Yet another two examples of muggle clothing:

Snake-slit eyes are hawt. I'm not even kidding.
Minor peeve: Over-powering spells, it annoys me.
It basically renders advanced education useless; why bother learning any more spells when you could just "over-power" the ones you know.
I'd like to think spells either work perfectly or they fail, but I'm sure there's canon evidence that contradicts this.

Because not everybody has a magical core as big as Harrys, duh.

After he removed Dumbledores blocks, I mean.

A peeve I've apparently had for a long time, but realized only recently: drawn-out, slow-paced magic duels. Spells fly fast. There is no time to perform grand feats of magic. You use quick hard-hitters. You move/block, or you lose. If someone like Dumbledore duels your average Auror, the duel won't last several minutes, it will last 30 seconds tops.

Only if he spends the first 28 seconds reminiscing about how he knew the auror at school.

I blame RPGs for that. People are too used to the idea of turns in duels.

Maybe not so much turns as the fact that in video games when a character takes an arrow to the knee, they lose 20hp and keep going, unlike in real life/writing, where you'd collapse screaming and take a subsequent curse to the face.

I assumed you were taking about video games. Were you? I've never done tabletop stuff.

It's both. In tabletop games, it literally has to be turn-based, otherwise the entire system falls apart. In vidya games, there are systems that are both real time and turn-based, and the weird ones that fall somewhere in the middle.

But I digress. The point being made was that combat is not a turn-based thing, everyone is trying to kill/incapacitate everyone else in the most efficient manner possible with the least amount of effort.

However, I would like to point out that a duel between equals could very well move into lasting several minutes - which is a fucking eternity when you're both trying very hard to kill/incapacitate each other. For example, Dumbledore's duel with Voldemort in the Atrium. If Voldemort hadn't had to leave because Ministry people arriving, I think the duel would have gone on for much longer, even if Dumbledore had to split his focus between defending himself and defending Harry.

I was talking about both tabletop and video games.

There's a very real sense of 'turns' in a fight, where one person acts and another person reacts. Martial artists use the term rhythm to describe this give and take of action and reaction, and controlling that rhythm has positive effects on your chances to win the fight. People are too set into the idea of 'turns' I agree, but if your idea of a fight is two guys throwing everything they have at eachother as quickly as they can, you haven't been in many fights with trained combatants. Many times a fighter can and will choose to block or parry a block instead of launch their own attack (like shielding a spell). To most martial arts this is an integral part of their particular strategy to win.

I can't think of any martial arts that don't teach some kind of evasion or defense mechanism. Most try to teach you to do both at the same time (attack and defend) but if you are controlling the rhythm of the fight you can take one of those options away from your opponent, which will always put you in a better position than your enemy.

    Pet Peeve:

People (authors) who don't do the research but expect readers not to call them on it.

Also authors who project political views on characters who really have never seemed to give a damn about politics, or have little or no reason to care about mundane politics. Like if Harry commented how much he hated the labor party or the torries in a story.

    Wrong.

Real combat isn't like in the movies, trained people don't fall over and give up when they get injured. In real life, people get shot multiple times and keep going - sometimes not even noticing it until later thanks to adrenaline. Very few injuries will instantly stop someone. If your heart blew up you'd still have almost ten seconds to get a spell off.

    Sometimes, maybe.

Adrenaline won't do anything to make a pulverized knee function correctly. You might crawl to get to me, but you won't be walking.
