Not related exclusively to Harry Potter, but I absolutely hate it when someone writes a merging crossover and doesn't even bother to reconcile the differences between the worlds. Just reading a Torchwood/Stargate crossover for example and the author just hand waved away Torchwood not noticing the Goa'uld and the SGC not noticing Daleks with some comment about it 'not being their area.'

 

All it says is a cursed half life, which is really vague, it's not helped by the fact that neither Quirrel nor Voldemort seem to have any noticeable signs of a curse on them from it.

A peeve of mine that seems to come alot recently is Harry's height. Jesus christ, the amount of people that make him out to be a bloody scrawny midget are at an all time high for me. I mean at like 5th year+.

I think is height was inconsistent in canon. I think someone posted about him being mentioned as "unusually small" as well as "about James' height during 6th year" - mentioned during the pensieve trip? - a while back. Can't remember exactly what was said.

And even then. Later on, the mentions of him being scrawny disappear. I think most of it comes from him wearing Dudley's cast-offs though. But that guy is fat as hell man.

 

It also doesn't help that Daniel Radcliffe is short as shit. Looked him up just to make sure, says he's 5'5
